Theres a lot of pirated softwares in the philippines. Most of those copies are running on an Internet Cafe. Here in our location alone 6 cafes are using illegal copies of MS Windows XP, MS Office, WarCraft 3 & Left 4 Dead. Each cafes has 12 PC units.

No wonder they can have it rented for 10 Pesos per hour (or 0.25c USD Per hour).

if your starting a broadband cafe and your capital is not enough to start a business like this, first, u have to use a pirate OS, because its expensive. the genuine one ^__^

Not Actually 90% I always visit different cyber cafes in the Philippines Specially in Marikina they always have original software and Operating systems probably in the Philippines its 70 percent and getting smaller. Usually they start in fake software and OS but they change it with genuine later on

I remember those old good times spent in internet cafe. We were playing games whole day and night. After raise of computer home usage many cyber cafes were canceled and all has gone.

PC was the 1st consumer friendly computer introduced to pinoys and pinoys have a tendency to favor products that are new and if the product is good pinoys can be loyal to certain products. Like before if you ask for a brand of toothpaste, most pinoys would say colgate. On appliances like tv, its usually sony, on celfones nokia...things like that..so for computers its PC. Mac would have a hard time selling in the Phillippines, and from what I hear, only rich people/above middle class use mac....

Stiff competition is one negative/positive factors for cybercafe business. If ur place is has too many competitors, chances are falling prices will make every owners chase other's level resulting in decreasing income for both or all

Security and better manageability is also a factor. medium to large computer needs a tool for convenient task.

We only use 19" LCD minimum .. largest we have is 22" WideScreen Viewsonic LCD ..

I guess theres that much competition. So people dont mind sitting in a plastic chairs. That's why theres no improvement on their Internet Cafe. If there would be a guy competing their Internet Cafes with a creativity and visualization. This would create a huge profit and recognization of many customers to use his Cafe everyday!
