  • He was bloody prettier than her- ha! Saw him in Sainsbury's Lakeside recently and introduced myself to him. Seemed terrified of me- but that might be 'cos I'm like a foot taller! He really is tiny bless him...

  • Always had a thing for Therese. Still hot, incidentally, to this day.

  • Dollar was okay...But I prefered LINX!!!

  • I see the producer of this song, and the three follow up's is on the bass - Trevor Horn.

  • There's something out of the water - both Trevor Horn and Howard Goodall were recently made CBEs on the 2011 New Year's Honours List!!! =D

  • Even on TOTP girls had their handbags on the floor...

  • A great song from a great time.

  • David Van Day is a CUNT !!

  • This song makes me happy :) ... Love it ! Love ! Love it !

  • When this was in the charts, I was on a caravan holiday with my friend Julie and I was just about to start my periods a month later, but I had some warning signs on that holiday, some vaginal discharge showed itself in the Caravan awning Port-a Loo Tent.

  • wanted to be him

    wanted to be with her

    and that was the point

    top pop

  • @rastafarievers Yep, you pretty much nailed it there. :)

  • Look at how fashion is recycling - those Military button coats are so 2010!!

  • The production on this song is 10/10

  • Trevor proving once more that the word 'producer' actually means something, Dave proving he was once slim and his head fitted through a normal width door ... and Teresa buying up the whole of L'Oreals production of hairspray for a year! Peter Powell dressed by the same wardrobe as Andy Pandy and Big Ted ... happy days

  • Brilliant!

  • This song and its' creation changed music production forever! Without it most of todays multi layer and electronic sounds would not exist.Trevor Horn is the father of modern music!

  • This is great. I love it that the TV director manages to totally miss the most important person on the stage throughout the entire performance. Horn barely manages an appearance in the background!

  • This is a great performance! I remember it well from september 1981,and this clip on TOTP too. This song sounded so fresh from thier earlier songs, thanks to the magic of Trevor Horn's talent.David and Thereza look so happy back then, its nice to see! Peter Powell's jumper looks so early eighties,i love it lol! Nice post! Benja :-)

  • Great tune. They sounded auto tuned before auto tuning existed.

  • this is such a good song...

  • this vid just screams 1980,s. wish i was back there.

  • got this 12" white vinyl, still love it. miss the 80's...

  • Dollar are brilliant this is their best song

  • I remeber this song laying on the radio whe was 5, weird how I can remember this song over the others being played.

My child minder must have been a Dollar lover.

  • Peter Powell on the Pops!!

  • just awesome i was 10 when this was out thought they were amazing still a fav song of mine glad i grew up listening to there music just awesome theresa was mega cute loved the clothes she wore

  • Who is that drummer he is amazing

  • Peter Powell Anthea's ex?

  • i think you will find out that it is not peter powell it was graham broad

  • Sorry who ever you are,but it was peter powell.

  • haha get back to me when you no what you are talking about. The drummer is Graham Broad

  • I'm told his name is Graham Broad......aka broadsters??? Yes, class drummer but dodgy scarf!

  • Theresa is so much more attractive then Nicola. Also David's girls are prettier.

  • got this on white vynal 12" very underated tune still sounds good now as back in 81

  • Ah, good old "vynal", I mean vinyl...

  • they were awesome the girl was really pretty sheer brilliance xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Dollar had some great tracks out in the early 80's especially the ones produced by Trevor Horn (who later went on to produce the Frankie Goes to Hollywood hits in 1984). This track had a sluggish climb up the UK charts but eventually peaked at no. 19 in late September 1981.

  • Do u think it should have been higher I thought it was higher than that?

  • Although it only crept into the Top 20, it did spend over 3 months in the charts, most probably as the track grew on people. Dollar soon made up their disappointment with their following two singles 'Mirror Mirror' and 'Give Me Back My Heart', both which peaked at no. 4 in January and April 1982 respectively. It was not until 1988 that they had their next and last top 10 bit with the Erasure song 'O L'Amour'. Thereze Bazar did work with Stock Aitken Waterman between these top 10 appearances.

  • thanks for your generous reply. It probably does well when a song stays in the charts for a long time despite only reaching lower part of the top 20.

  • it is nice but i never heard it before and they do not show trevor very well.

  • Man i used to fancy Thereza back when i was about 8 years old!!

  • David was a stunner back then. I actually think he has aged quite well - still looks very boyish. I would certainly look twice if I met him on the street! After all, nobody can retain their looks from their 20s forever. At least he's not full of botox and plastic like that bitch in the jungle. By the way,is Peter Powell about to grope himself at the very end - he gets all excited when he says "I thought he was gonna kiss her then" and it looks like he's about to have a quick grab of his crotch!!

  • Cheese pop at it's best. You wouldn't get away with it now. Aaah! The 80s was such a smiley place.

  • Dead right, toooooo much attitude these days in music

People take themselves way too seriously. Feel good music for a feel good era.

  • Davidds still lussshhh lol , shes way 2 skinnnyyy !!!!!!!

  • I see DVD has put on a bit of weight since this was made lol.

DVD should have won IACGMOOH! He's a legend!

  • It was so obviously a fix- George has been in the bottom two twice and was due to go next. DVD is the real winner!!!!!!!

  • David is the real winner- it would have been suicidally boring without him in there!

  • David is the king of the jungle without a doubt, and as far as I'm concerned he's the only one left with any dignity. That bimbo, bitch conived to deprive the poor sod of a slice of chocolate brownie AND guzzled poor ole little Timmy's beer! I'd hate to be in the desert, dying of thirst, with that zeppelin norked bimbo in charge of the last fresh water. She'd do well in the SS !

  • Bloody well said Glat ! Shes a psycho nasty piece of work bitch who hated DVD AND Timmy from the START.David is a true GENIUS ;A CLASS ACT & a LEGEND.I never knew just how much there was to him all those years ago watching Dollar i thought he was just some posing ponce then ! I just fancied Therez ! Nicola spiteful spoiled twisted grudge baring bitch ; David a great Dad laugh a minute hero ; hope we see more of him now !

  • I thought the same thing. It was a real eye opener to see what an interesting character David is. He also loves his daughters so much- they are the image of him!!!!

  • Quite agree that song, the first of four from the bass player Trevor Horn helped shaped lush produced hooky synth pop.

  • Yea she reminds me of the type of bitch that would get a guy killed in a night club by the bouncers just for the sake of it.

  • Quality comment!!!!

  • Let's not forget that Chucky doll face Nicola deliberately put a screw in David's meal. It might be the only screw he'll ever get from her, but please: GET HER OUT NOW!!!!

  • now i know who she reminded of thanks.

  • Just read that Chucky is trying to say that David touched her inappropriately! I suppose that means Joe was sexually harassing Martina when he patted her bottom and called it "peachy!"

Women, and I use the term loosely, like her are dangerous! No self respecting male would go near her or her botched implants!

  • Hes gonna be on im a celebrity, good times

  • Love the way David exposed Nicola to be a tart with no heart. Hope the bimbo gets voted out first- she aint no lady, and she isn't even a celebrity!!!!

  • totally agree with you; Nicola is a predictable bore. David is probably not the easiest person to live with, but he's a character and gets my vote

  • I agree at least david had some amount of fame back in the day. hes funny with timmy mallet. i love this song to that trever horn wrote. anyone can be a bitch with fake tits and that freind of hers that stressed over having too much money needs to face the next bush tucker trial

  • Yeah - I'm DEFINITELY with you on that one - can't believe she's still in!! Surely the public must be able to see what a vindictive old cow she is. She's so cruel to David....not nice.

  • Yes. I bet it was that malevolent old bint who set fire to David's undies. Did you see how disrespectful of Esther she was when Esther was putting out the fire that Brian caused. She was dancing around shouting 'put it out'- she's just an ugly, talentless chav!!!! Have you noticed how much she looks like Catherine Tate's granny character? Get the witch out.

  • She's trying so hard to be like Jordan. I reckon it must be blokes who are voting to keep her in because of her big tits!! I get so upset every night when Ant and Dec say "Nicola......the public have voted and tonight...it's NOT you"!! She was so feeble doing the controls on that wheel thing too. Wish she'd been in the top wheel like poor Joe!! I think the public are loving David though. Let's hope he stays to the end.

  • Yes- she is trying to be like Jordan, but failing miserably. I don't think Jordan was cruel to anyone except Peter- and I think that was just for the cameras! Jordan wasn't lazy like her either and is at least better looking!

David is hilarious and has really livened things up. He and Timmy are a fantastic double act and people should keep them in!

  • theresa Bazarr is doing bizarre things to me!!!

  • Have to admit I was into Kraftwerk, Simple Minds etc, I thought at the time this was so cheesy! However now i'm older I realise it is actually a very well made song.

  • How the hell could he take the p*ss? This is liquid gold...not only great lyrics but great video and melody...80's at it's best....they don't make songs like this anymore....happy days!!

  • My husband took the p*** out of me for having this on my ipod. I told him to shut up and listen. It is PERFECT pop - Trevor Horn at his finest. By the end he was in total agreement.

  • got this on white picture disc 12" vynal.. classic!!

  • What a great life they've had.

  • David "The Legend" Van Day.Looking forward to seeing them on the new TV series for Living TV.

  • i love the eighties aryan look

  • What's happened to David's pink tea towel? Did he lose it since being on Razzamatazz and Summertime Special?

  • Reminds me how much of an idiot Peter Powell was/is.

  • The drummer looks familiar, any idea who he is?, Thanks. Oh and on another note, a gem of a pop song and Ms Bazaar looks hotter than July....ish, that is a July spent in the Med., not here where our Summer is very dodgy.

  • His name is John Graham. Very well known session drummer. Played with Dollar for years and Bucks Fizz plus loads of other bands. Also does the drums at the end of Eastenders!

  • Thanks for the drummers name KitNtigs. Did he do work with Trevor Horn as well?

  • actually his name is graham broad, (john graham is a sax player!!) sorry!! yes i think john has also worked with trevor horn.

  • Frank Farian and trevor horn have a lot in common! they are both gods of music using 'big hair' and 'image' fronts to foward their fantastic music, I have full admiration for trevor and alike frank for the wonderfull work and music they have given to all of us!

  • Theresa was so hot then. Lucky ol' David!

  • yip propaganda were brill whatever happened to them

  • god i used to dress like that in the 80s and i mean like her and im a man ?

  • what great music,i love it ,the 80,s group nobody likes to admit they like, but so what,if you enjoy it go for it

  • loved this band they were awesome brings back great memories of primary 7 at rockwell dundee sheer brilliance xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx brill brill brill

  • My favourite song eclipsed only by Propaganda,s Dr Mabuse. But the listening pleasure that Trevor Horn puts into his work is a gift. For me this ranks with Abba as perfect pop.

  • They've both gone a bit overboard with the cap highlights.

  • I'm not entirely sure but I reckon that David Van Day's outfit is the same as what he wore in the Mirror Mirror (Mon Amour) video, when they are standing in the toy shop window.

  • Great tune, Trevor Horn is brill. If was singer id love to work with him.

  • This makes me so happy!

  • I dig the keyboardist in the black t-shirt; (Howard Goodall -- YAY!) he's brilliant!!! :D

  • these kids are fu cin broill

  • in the 80s they were naff but secretley we all liked them and trevor horn is a genius remember buggles

  • yea, i would never have admitted to my mates that I liked them, now we don't care!

  • yeah me to the first song i ever taped on a PROPER tape recorder. classic

  • Dollar and Trevor Horn - perfect pop. A genius producer who has that special magic touch.

  • love it

  • I contacted Howard and he has confirmed that it is indeed him. He had the same agent as Dollar too !

  • @sodaspops Thanks! Nice to know I got that one right. I'm a big fan both of Dollar and Howard's Channel 4 programmes on music.

  • @ajs41 Yes thanks for that. Happy New Year x

  • Wait a minute - that looks like Howard Goodall - (the music programme TV presenter in the UK) playing the keyboards. Can anyone else confirm this?

  • This is September 3rd, 1981.

  • one word soina

  • kylie? uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

  • I can see kylie in her looks here. Trevor Horn is a great producer.

  • man oh man oh man....does this ever bring back MEMORIES!

  • I love the 1980s pop!

  • Pop perfection. Trevor Horn defined an era! So sad about his missus :-(

  • ...why do I remember, is being errrm 12ish and hoping that her skirt would blow up to reveal some white knicker....ah, those were the days

  • new Romantic puffy/pirate shirts
