@starquant Look up Julius Wechter (or Baja Marimba Band) on wikipedia you stupid moron. He was known as one of the greatest percussionist of all time. Here's a clue for you...if you have no knowledge of a subject don't attempt to give an opinion about it, you just make a fool of yourself.
@starquant When people in the industry disagree with you on a subject you know nothing about you only sound like a fool. It would be like saying that Thomas Edison was a terrible inventor because you didn't know who he was. That's the comparison that works here.
@MalubaySyecado funny how you nominate Thomas Edison in your argument. It was actually Nikola Tesla that was responsible for most of the inventions attributed to Edison. Don't patronize me and check your own facts prior before making a "huge" meataxe of yourself on youtube. Get off your high horse and come down a notch. Take a breath and stop exhaling B.S:
@starquant You are sadly mistaken if you think Tesla invented the light bulb. Though his research was used by inventors, nothing Tesla ever made actually worked. His was pathetic in that regard and that will always be his downfall. Also, look up Julius Wechter, like Edison, he's a legend. Something you never you will be. So you probably shouldn't put down successes, because when a failure does that he (you) look ever more like a failure.
@Gnillob802 firstly I did NOT say that Tesla invented the light bulb. Secondly, I will say that after working with Edison for so many years, he became disillusioned at having His ideas stolen by Edison and eventually was funded by Westinghouse for his invention of Alternating current. We all use it today. so much for your inaccurate synopsis of this great person. Go and do your homework, you look like a FOOL.
@Gnillob802 I NEVER said he did you twat. Tesla invented alternating current. Edison invented direct current. Edison was so incensed about Tesla's invention, he actually went around electrocuting Elephants to try and show people how dangerous he thought it was. Thus, the next step from this display, was the invention of the electric chair. Do you research first before proclaiming your ignorance in a public forum.
@starquant First this is a video about Liz Montgomery at the Hollywood Palace so not really the "forum" for this subject. Second, I know more about this subject than you shall ever want to know and I don't need to argue the points on a You Tube video. I think its great you're now just delving into this subject but I suggest if you go to a site more appropriate.
@starquant Um, that guy is Julius Wechter. He played with Herb Alpert, Martin Denny, The Beach Boys and was part of the Wall of Sound. He's a legend. You really need to learn more about music of at least look people up first.
I would not have know that but I and a Bewitched nut and in love with Elizabeth, I was born in 1960 so i don't remember that much about HP, but grew up on her show, along with the other greats of the time. Lucy, Mary Tyler Moore, Barabra Eden, I could go on and on
"THE HOLLYWOOD PALACE" always had "participating sponsorship" (usually four to six sponsors for every telecast)- on October 1, 1966 {at 2:04} they included Sherwin-Williams, for "Super Kem-Tone" [Norman Rose is the announcer]. Jackie Mason made several appearances at the "Palace", while Ed Sullivan refused to allow him to appear on his Sunday night show at the time because of an infamous "finger" incident...
Judging from what I see of the picture quality, ABC's Palace Theatre (where the show was based) must've replaced their RCA TK-41C's by this point with the Norelco PC-70's.
ClassicShowbiz, you really are saying a lot when you speak of the Baja Marimba Band. They played GREAT music! My personal favorite is their rendition of "Ghost Riders In The Sky" but it has never been posted on Youtube...
Seeing Jackie Mason comparing a president to a plumber reminded me about the recent McCain/Obama debate when they kept mentioning "Joe the Plumber". And his mentioning how Nixon is suddenly in demand for the presidency because of his constant losing also reminded me of McCain's reemergence in this year's primary after HIS previous losses...
@tvmonte Yes...YouTube has an ABC News special (in color) airing a month after this, just before the mid-term elections, analyzing the major races. They said that should Ronald Reagan win the the governorship of California, he would immediately be on the list of possible GOP candidates for 1968. alongside Nixon and Michigan governor George Romney (Mitt's dad).

My guess would be 1967. "Portuguese Washerwomen" was a chart single in the fall of 1966.

She hosted this in Dec of 1966, I enjoyed the music and the lovely Elizabeth Montgomery.

The Baha Marimba band should have played some of their better music. Those two number did not do them justice

They should have just had Liz walk around the stage. Thats all they needed for this show.
