Awesome version - that run of albums in the late 90s is just incredible - Murder Ballads, Boatman's Call and into the new millennium with And No More Shall We Part...brilliant!
Thanks for sharing this clip. When I went to see "the boatman's call" tour, this was one song which was not performed. And yet it is the standout on the album.
wow this song really comes to life here. i haven't really enjoyed this on the album, but warren ellis makes everything fantastic. i wish the violin had been on the studio version
@ysfaljanabi No, it's just another way of saying that this song resonates to some deeply heart-felt emotion, probably concerning something unresolved. Such a statement is also indicative of a great deal of imagination on the part of the one who expresses it. That's simply human, nothing else. The fact that you need to degrade this sentiment is your problem alone, and no one elses, really.
Where and when did Mtv go wrong? These were great shows.

@hendrixius
Blixa hates the saxophone...no way he would have allowed it.

@kez1979
There is no sax, and I doubt Blixa would have allowed it as he hates the instrument.
Hirnlego999 4 months ago
@kez1979 Sounds less like a sax and more like a string instrument to me: maybe with some distortion added?

this is one of my favourite songs on The Boatman's Call. so much so that it doesn't play cleanly anymore. Honest! Thank god I put it on my MP3.
Nice live version.

This 'kills' me every time i hear. that is such a pretentious, gay, thom yorke like queerly over sentimental, emo, statement. YSF
