@JPoirot127 well the games was meant to look exactly like this till square decided to let microsoft get there hands on it which caused the game to graphically slip to how the game looks now. because microsoft has a agreement with 3rd party companys that if you want to release the same game on there console the other version has to look the exact same as the xbox version not to mention all the shit that was cut because they filled the damn with cutscene after cutscene -_-
Loved the story reminded me off X a bit, over all XIII was sweet, good intro-ending etc. just linear that's all so if you don't like it don't play it just don't bag on what developers took years of hard work to bring to us gamers :)
This goes up there with the love/hate relationships of Final Fantasy VIII, X, & X-2....you either you like these games or you don't...if you don't like them, don't play them. I personally don't like Final Fantasy II all that much...so I don't play it, even though I own it. (Final Fantasy Origins)....so if you don't like the game, then don't bother with it. You either love it or you dislike it. But it's not going away....XIII-2 will be out shortly.

I stopped caring for FF games when Square-enix started to really show how they deal with customer service in 2009-2010 with FFXI, then FF13 was over hyped and FF14 really showed that SE does not listen to their fans. So I am sure this one will release and just like FF10-2 everyone will buy it and then everyone will complain about how bad it is. SE will go on to make another game and suck at it cause they only look at the financial figures and not fan comments.
@Leepehoppe Uh, Final Fantasy XIII-2? The entire game is focused on fixing the problems that fans had. But yeah, FF14 was a complete failure on SE's part. I've looked everywhere on Tube for a complete walkthrough, but no one's finished it yet...bad sign. I liked the first 10 minute cutscene, and that was it for me. And I don't think FF13 was overhyped, but that's your own opinion, and I'm not one to start flamewars on Tube.
Everyone is stuck on VII. Yes, it was great for its time and it was the game that popularized RPG's throughout the west, but that was then, this is now. Every single FF has its own style and unique taste to it. Choose your title, love it and move on from it. If i had to play with the grindy materia system for 6 more titles, FF woulda died ages ago.

@kasbersky now see, I can agree with some parts of this. Characters are pretty bad. You know characters are lacking when SE has to release a sequel so they can do character development on the main character. you do that during the first game SE. Plus whoever thought Vanille was a good idea should be pushed into a ditch. And the story leaves a lot to be desired. But the gameplay. I gotta say that keeps it okay. once you get into it, its a lot more than just pressing X, and can be really fun
@kasbersky for me, the only best thing about XIII was probably this trailer. cuz i recall that hyped feeling and getting this adrenaline whenever I watch this. But then playing the actual game I would feel that something's missing. Cuz watching Lightning take on the horde of soldiers in this trailer by herself is cool. but then they added other characters to cramp her style. sometimes i wonder how much cooler it would be just to play as Lightning alone cuz she was the only reason I got this game

this is one heck of a beautiful game......lovely absolutely lovely. the graphics are like a cross between crysis and killzone2. crysis makes great use of light and killzone 2 of shade and such this game does both and the character models are the best in anygame i have ever seen 'enough said. beautiful game.
Man i was anticiapting where it's 1 soldier shooting off an army battle (controlling flips and fancy acrobatic moves would of been pretty awesome) If i remember correctly, that didn't quite happen in the final product.
People are gonna hate me for this but I enjoy the 360 version more. Yup. I said it. One of the main reasons is changing discs. I loved FFVII and when I completed a disc it felt like I accomplished something. The same goes for XIII.
@AsterBarnivere well that's just it, SE was on the verge of creating something great They had the tools and people to do it, but in the end it's like they hit a writer's block or some sort of dead end and decide to slopily half ass the rest of development. and you know what they say "time = $" so as they were reaching the 4 year mark even THEY were noticing that they're taking an incredibly long time developing this so they did a quick port to the 360 hoping to get more $ and make up lost time

Gee I don't know people, everyone said that the final battle system was too on rails and automated, but to be honest I felt the exact same way about this cinematic representation of it long before the final system was released. Somehow it just feels like I would just be inputing commands and the whole battle would play out like an interactive movie or something, which doesn't sound fun to me. I want to be able to move around AND input commands.

a game so heavily critisized for being more like a movie than a game, i'm sorry but look at this battle system! it looks completely like a movie, what with all the dynamic camera angles. personally i'm not all that good at RPG's so the linearity of FFXIII suited me down to the ground because i usually end up getting lost, give up halfway through the game, come back to it and forget where the hell i was. the story, awesome visuals, character development and fighting system kept me wanting more
@Usul573 how have you come to that conclusion? you do know they most likely edited parts of this time so there wasn't the waiting around parts...kinda like how in one of the older trailers of Versus XIII they slowed noctis down to show his battle style more clearer. if Square thought this would have worked they would of kept it in. this battle system here does look epic but what happens when you have you partners with you? you'd hardly see them due to the dynamic camera focused on your character
So I was under the impression that this game was terrible based on all the haters. I got the game last night and its amazing. Why should it have to apologize for being different? Thank god Square is evolving the franchise. Part of the reason I think it didn't go over well is that it was released for the 360 which has a completely different fan base than the PS3. I don't own a PS3 but then again I play my FPS games on the pc, and I leave my console games to my console. Play before you judge.

this is one heck of a beautiful game......lovely absolutely lovely. the graphics are like a cross between crysis and killzone2. crysis makes great use of light and killzone 2 of shade and such this game does both and the character models are the best in anygame i have ever seen 'enough said. beautiful game.

Man i was anticiapting where it's 1 soldier shooting off an army battle (controlling flips and fancy acrobatic moves would of been pretty awesome) If i remember correctly, that didn't quite happen in the final product.

People are gonna hate me for this but I enjoy the 360 version more. Yup. I said it. One of the main reasons is changing discs. I loved FFVII and when I completed a disc it felt like I accomplished something. The same goes for XIII.

@AsterBarnivere well that's just it, SE was on the verge of creating something great They had the tools and people to do it, but in the end it's like they hit a writer's block or some sort of dead end and decide to slopily half ass the rest of development. and you know what they say "time = $" so as they were reaching the 4 year mark even THEY were noticing that they're taking an incredibly long time developing this so they did a quick port to the 360 hoping to get more $ and make up lost time

Ok, that’s it guys. I have gotten rid of my xbox 360, and back with on board with PS3. I just missed all the great memories I’ve had playing FF games on my PS1, like MGS, FF, KH….I am back where I belong, Now Let’s go to work Lightning.
Also, check out my video on how to get a retail version of FF13. I hacked an offer for it, and got myself 3 copies, sold 2 and kept 1.

Gee I don't know people, everyone said that the final battle system was too on rails and automated, but to be honest I felt the exact same way about this cinematic representation of it long before the final system was released. Somehow it just feels like I would just be inputing commands and the whole battle would play out like an interactive movie or something, which doesn't sound fun to me. I want to be able to move around AND input commands.

this game was made for rgp nubs instead of like we see it here to get a new ff fanbase.it works kinda with the 360 release as well. i doubt they will make it so simple again. versus XIII will not be an easy game.

a game so heavily critisized for being more like a movie than a game, i'm sorry but look at this battle system! it looks completely like a movie, what with all the dynamic camera angles. personally i'm not all that good at RPG's so the linearity of FFXIII suited me down to the ground because i usually end up getting lost, give up halfway through the game, come back to it and forget where the hell i was. the story, awesome visuals, character development and fighting system kept me wanting more

@Usul573 how have you come to that conclusion? you do know they most likely edited parts of this time so there wasn't the waiting around parts...kinda like how in one of the older trailers of Versus XIII they slowed noctis down to show his battle style more clearer. if Square thought this would have worked they would of kept it in. this battle system here does look epic but what happens when you have you partners with you? you'd hardly see them due to the dynamic camera focused on your character

So I was under the impression that this game was terrible based on all the haters. I got the game last night and its amazing. Why should it have to apologize for being different? Thank god Square is evolving the franchise. Part of the reason I think it didn't go over well is that it was released for the 360 which has a completely different fan base than the PS3. I don't own a PS3 but then again I play my FPS games on the pc, and I leave my console games to my console. Play before you judge.

@BackdoorSub7 I'm more worried about Versus 13 and Agito. I really hope development won't go as slow as it was on 13 because graphics alone can't save a game. This isn't like Shadow of the Colossus where the atmosphere backs it up.

I understand that you may play this game and not enjoy elements of it, that's fine, the whole world doesn't share one opinion, but hating on it purely because it's different when you would have enjoyed it had it been any other series but Final Fantasy is idiotic. @mushroomshrub i rented the game for Xbox 360 and honestly i thought it was okay. but here's the thing. if you play it thinking more like a action/RPG then it will turn out good. but if you play it as a FINAL FANTASY GAME its Terrible! normally i'm okay with linear games. but when im playing this expecting it to be a Final Fantasy game then it is just god awful. it feels more like a interactive movie with numbers. this game is ok but its just not a final fantasy game. i recommend Versus XIII.
