  • If it's so faithful to a Fender Custom Shop, why the price? Is it the wood choice or bolt on neck or what? I know he said pickups but those are easily replaced, so I don't think Fender would want to lose a lot of money over such a small change

  • price?

  • To people bitching about fingerprints, you clean it like you do any other guitar.

    With a fucking cloth.

Everything gets fucking fingerprints. Phones, guitars, consoles, incriminating evidence. Just shows that they have been used, and could maybe use the odd clean. Like everything does.

  • @BigJohnDeere100

Agree 100%. I was skeptical of the Squires so I joined the TPRI forum (only Teles) to get their opinions. I read post after post about how great the Classic Vibe Teles were. Glowing reviews from people that owned multiple high priced Teles - even to the point where people were saying their Classic Vibes played and sounded as good as their higher priced Am made Teles! I got one and can say they were right! Fit, finish great, stays in tune for years!

  • @Porchduck Yepper, and they keep coming out with more and more cool guitarz, like the J Mascis JazzMaster..pure heaven for less than 300 bucks CAD. Again, just like the Classic Vibe Series, they are keeping up with Fender.....great quality and tone right out of the box. Now if they would only make a Malmsteen Signature Strat for Squier...and kick off a new metal series of strats (malmsteen, Blackmore, Dave Murray, Jim Root...they would sell out, and I would have my malmsteen strat!

    BJD

    \M/

  • We have come along way from the cheapy overseas stuff we used to get even 20 yrs ago. Have you played a better model Squier recently...think classic vibe, Avril Lavigne, and John 5.

    Squier is becoming so metal

    \m/

  • @BigJohnDeere100 I agree :)

  • i want it !

  • this looks like a really good guitar (... obviously talking lookswise), but what would you use to wash the fingerprints off? water? o.o lol

  • I'm thinking about buying this guitar just for the way it looks. I know. I'm ridiculous. LOL

  • It's a Metalcaster ^^

  • I dont like the look of Telecasters, I think Les Paul guitars look a lot better.

  • @ANOTHERHOLEINYOHEAD i didn't like the look of them that much either, but they FEEL amazing in my hands and they're fairly versatile and durable. After a while the look just grows on you.

  • Don't wanna read negative comms, cuz the guitar is good, no, it's amazing! And who don't like it may go and buy their Gibsons SG

  • obviously the bullet and affinity series are not great guitars.... because they are designed for begginers. But the vintage modified series, classic vibe nd deluxe series.... and THE TELE CUSTOM II WITH P90´S are great guitars at ridiculous prizes. The tele custom II it´s amazing. really.

  • I own many squiers. But my squier tele custom II, the one with P90´s.... it´s amazing. I love that guitar. One of my favourites. And my deluxe strat in daphne blue its awesome too. So, come on people.... it´s how you play.... you dont have to play a custom shop heavy relic 1966 RI, etc...

  • Marilyn Manson disliked this video 3 times for John leaving his ass behind

  • @DrIntrebec actually marilyn kicked john from the band ...and he later apologized ..so its marilyn's fault ...he probavly wishes john would return but its his fault really not john's ..

  • marilyn manson is

  • My name is Kee Yung i'm a young Guitarist and Bassist.. And i think that Squier makes awesome guitars and basses. My first Bass was actually a squier jazzbass and i still love it.. even thought it's been a while.. I tell you, the neck of a squier guitar/bass is unbeliveable.. it's soo much guitar.. for such low price :P

If i someday could get a signature bass i would pick squier.. Oh man great guitars....

  • who the hell is this guy

  • @v4lkyr he used to be Marilyn Manson's guitarist for a couple of years and now he's playing with Rob Zombie and he's got like 5 solo albums but he's really under the radar

  • @ergs2b A couple years? More like 6 years :)

  • @v4lkyr Your nightmare.

  • so you get a telecaster that sounds absolutely nothing like a telecaster.

  • @brainstormer9 Hahahaha that's right

  • @brainstormer9

iron maiden uses strat style guitars. it doesnt matter what its history is, just where you take it.

  • What is the music at the beginning of the video?

  • Nice one fender now everyone's going to buy the squier instead of the fender

  • John 5 is the only reason I picked up a Tele, and I swear these guitars are gonna stick with me for life.

  • AND THE EXACT SAME SMUDGES!!!!!! JOHN I WILL FIND YOU AND CLEAN EACH AND EVERY ONES OF YOUR GUITARS UNTIL THEY ARE SPOTLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i think its awesome to have a bridge humbucker with coil tapping :p just sharing my thoughts

  • Does it come with the fingerprints, too?

  • @Broyale26 Nice one dude ! xD

  • Ohhhhh wht the pickup included

  • Jim root's tele is way better

  • @HeheShutUp121 please i beg to differ

  • @HeheShutUp121 They're two very different guitars. This video has nothing to do with James Root, so why open your mouth?

  • I like how none if his guitars are clean :)

  • @Hazpon Me too. Shows that he actually spends a lot of time with them all. They are not mantle pieces.

  • @Hazpon why...are urs?

  • Why does he have yakuza tattoos?

  • I absolutely agree that the player makes the tone. The only issue that I ever have with fender or squier imports is getting the action and intonation setup. Its really a bitch on some of them.

  • Import production lines can have quality control issues run to run. If you purchase an

instrument , make sure it's one you've actually played in a store, through a variety of

amps&effects. There are solid good quality imports that are excellent deals . It's an

single instrument to instrument thing. If all Mexican , Indian or Chinese models suck

    , which they don't , then there woud'nt be such a huge under $500.00 domestic market .

  • I have never played a Fender guitar made in Mexico that was not crap. *ABSOLUTELY NOTHING* against the people of Mexico or the workers at the factory. When you have low wages, low quality lumber/materials, and the production line moves as fast as possible...the guitars are just not going to sound, play, feel, and last.

  • I like my Squire strat it's not too bad and I even made some cool sounding recordings with it . I tried this guitar and it was not my cup of tea. I think it needs better pick ups or some foam under the pickguard, it made some unpleasant noise at high volume.

  • how heavy is this guitar?

  • @ComfortablyNumbAgain VERY, heavier than my Les Pauls!

  • Where can I buy this beauty?! Post a link or something, please

  • John ROCKS !

  • stay in tune fine if you dont go adding a cheap ass tremlo system. you really get what you pay for on those, personally i like FLOYD, but expiriment a little, you'll find on that works for your style... rock on, and have fun !!!

  • Does anyone no how well these stay in tune?

  • lmao this toddcage douche goes from video to video trying to start shit and everybody just makes him look like a jackass.

  • squier are fucken awsome

  • It's such a great guitar!! well i made a few upgrades.. like changing hole electronics i put also new humbackers, d activators. and it sounds exactly like johns tele. For me its the best guitar i have ever playin. standard tuning, drop d or drop c also is a home for this guitar, u can play any kind of music on it, just change your strings and rule the guitar world!

  • @TODDCAGE

LOL at you thinking it's anything but the electronics that's causing that squeal.

You really think duncans are magic pickups that won't squeal?

It's not the name of the axe but the construction of the pickup that determines whether it will squeal.

  • @TODDCAGE

So you're saying the resonant frequency of the bridge is as high as the resonant frequency of a hair thin wire.

I seriously doubt any parts of the bridge can sympathetically vibrate high enough to be considered a squeal.

Try a potted pickup and the noise will go away.

Having a big collection doesn't mean you know squat about guitar construction but building them for the last 30 years and custom winding pickups myself surely does.

You won't win this pissing match.

  • @Icepacalapse You need to learn how to read, I have had several POTTED pickups installed. We are not even talking about pickups you POS. Are you from foreign country because your grammar is horrible. You should be praticing HOOKED on PHONICS for the past 30 years.

  • @TODDCAGE, well there are some other knobs than gain in your amp. You say this guitar buzzes, but it is the same with Fender J5. It is because all this steel stuff on it. It is pickguard that is microphonic not the bridge itself. Another question: you say, you have a big collection of expensive guitars, so for what F*** have you bought Squier?

  • Comment removed

  • @TODDCAGE

You were in the best luthier… Where do you live? It is Uzbekistan, am I right? Plug your amp to good earthed socket and that’s it. Do you have earthed sockets in Uzbekistan? You do not have any les pauls and you cannot even play guitar. But, yes, you are dumb as f@#k.

  • 0:48 shirley

  • 363 $ In Thailand

    Sound is KooL

  • OMG He kinda made me grab my money and almost jumped out the door to buy one of these.

  • Just bought this guitar yesterday. I'm so amazed, the guitar is AWESOME

  • im save'n up 8)

  • Who cares how John looks? It's about the music. His love of guitar is infectious and his dedication to his discipline is admirable to say the least. I wish I could be half the play he is.

  • what is the song at 2:14? I saw him talking about it in another vid but can't find that vid anymore.

  • @bane720 its the totally amazing "The Washing Away of Wrong"

  • @vainparasite Funny, I didn't hear any off/on switching in the versions of "The Washing Away of Wrong" that I heard him play. I think this is something different. Was looking for a song he plays with him switching.

  • @bane720 Sorry dude i didnt listen properly its Heretics fork, the on off switching starts around 2.20 on the track ;0) Both awesome tracks tho im sure you'll agree.

  • @vainparasite That's the one, thank you very much. I must have scanned over it and not listened long enough. And you are correct, he is a sadistic monster with a guitar. Very talented player and you can definitely hear the chaotic control in his playing.

  • @ererye lol..cause you cant play ur callin him a fag..lol..and ur the one who sucks the big cock every night huhh cocksucker

  • This dude is a flamer! He's crazy effeminate.

  • this guitar sounds way better than the more expensive jim root model

  • An AMAZING guitarist and an incredibly cool and sweet guy...one of my heroes!

  • John ROCKS !!

Loved his work with Diamond David Lee Roth ..

Really did well filling in for Eddie Van Halen

    John

  • i play hard rock/metal guitar and wanted to get this guitar but am holding back cuz people use this for like chicken picking and stuff? and idk, should i get it?

  • @eLeMeNtsKaTeRgUy96 You can play anything on a Tele, stupid kid.

  • Great looking guitar !

    John is the man

  • @Voldygirl89 259 quid

  • how much does it cost? anybody?

  • you need some dimarzios

  • here is what i want to do to this guitar is to take of the bridge and the knob thing that are shiny sand of the black paint paint it white and leave the mirror pickgaurd then put in seymour duncan blackouts then it would be amazing

  • Hey i wanna know what is the song that plays the whole ad? whats the name?

  • @BluesMan88 heretic's fork by john 5

  • One of most playable guitars in my collection is a squire strat, don't knock the name! This is getting some real good feedback from users, and most people agree that the squier looks better than the full fender. At £250.00 its a bargain, better than most guitars in this price range. Getting mine on monday, after trying one out last week, just got to have it!

  • sry but emgs and john5 is the complete opposite

  • @maxmock not sure if that 100% accurate, john uses dimarzio d-activator pickups, those pups were designed to sound like and active pup (emg) but have the dynamic response of a passive pup

  • put in some EMG 81/85's in it. Paint over the squier logo and put a fender logo on it and you got awesomeness :D

  • haha agreed

  • @uberandy666 There is nothing wrong with Squier, it's the player that makes the tone! A guitarist who's been playing for 50 years can make a 60 dollar guitar sound like GOLD! But a guitarist who's been playing for 4 months and if he has a 2,000 dollar guitar rig set up, and a 4,000 dollar guitar, he'll make it sound like total shit.

If you think Squiers suck, it may be you, 'cause a good guitarist can make any guitar sound amazing.

  • @NegativeCreepPro it was just a cosmetic delight for the guitar i was talking about :) i dont give a shit if its a squier. But real guitar geeks do and with a fender logo you can avoid allot of "you got a squier, jesus you suck" comments from people.

  • @NegativeCreepPro i hear ya man i love squiers ,,,,

  • @NegativeCreepPro nope, not true. Tone comes from your setup, skill comes from the player. An amazing player can sound shit on a shit guitar if they try and do the same things that they do on a quality guitar. The only thing is, an amazing guitarist can compromise for the shitness and can make it sound reasonable. Allot of a guitarists sound is determined by their rig, why do you think so much work goes into building instruments/amps/pedals?? It's not complicated

  • @NegativeCreepPro I agree, Squier makes pretty good instruments. I tried a VM Jazz Fretless with flats a while back, and it was awesome! I've also played a VM Jazz 70's, with the same outcome. There's definately nothing wrong with Squier!

  • @NegativeCreepPro ok, nice try mister positive, but not true. you need atleast a DECENT guitar inorder to get some sort of tone.

  • @NegativeCreepPro a good guitar though will make the 50 year guitarplayin veteran sounding better ;) but you are absolutely right and you i havent actually never though of it the way you put it...i was gonna save up for a real fender but you changed my mind imma gonna buy this! thanks man ;D!

  • @NegativeCreepPro i understand your point, but not all guitarist have been playing for 50 years. not everyone has enough talent or experience to turn shit to gold.

  • @NegativeCreepPro

    that is a true fact

  • @NegativeCreepPro ... well put dude, love when someone slams back at the assholes who dont know shit about what they're talkin about in the 1st place !!! a very good, lucid, slam !!!! rock on ..

  • @NegativeCreepPro a good set up is important though, and tone is definetly a big factor.

  • @NegativeCreepPro i beg to differ.

  • @NegativeCreepPro And the reason why a Fender Tele is more expensive is...

  • @NegativeCreepPro AMEN! check me out I play 300 dollar strat copies, and have been featured on tv, toured, etc. I'll just let whoever checks out my channel decide if Im talking BS or not! Its the player that matters most!

  • @NegativeCreepPro Absolutely! I have played so many guitars it is unreal. MIC, MIA, MIK, Customs , everything everywhere, but the truth is no matter is that the real tone comes from my fingers. Every guitar player has their own nuances that they have. Guitars are tools. I treat them as such. One of my favoritesd right now is my Washburn HB, Made in China, I play that more than my Heritage.

  • @NegativeCreepPro

Squires are a lot better than Epiphones. Personally I think there is a MUCH larger difference in the Most and least expensive strats than Les Pauls.

  • @NegativeCreepPro I agree with you but cmon even you know squiers are not that good

  • @NegativeCreepPro 4.000$ ? \o/. Remember, in the 70's they was sold for 300$. It's time for our generation to make our vintage guitars.

  • @NegativeCreepPro this is so true i used to think you needed the best gear to sound the best till i was in a pawn shop, saw some guy pick up some no names piece of shit with a warped neck, plug it in and

HO-LY-SHIT!!!! after that i see al guitars as amazing sounding instruments, its all the player, the gear just adds to the sound it doesn't create it

  • @uberandy666

haha then itll be like a john 5 meets jim root telecaster

  • @butterknucklez, ye i looked at the jim root one, its almost perfect but missing more volume and tone knobs

  • This is a beautiful guitar, i have an ESP LTD MH-400 with licenced floyd rose and EMG 81 / 85 combo and i am seriously looking at this guitar so i have a non-tremelo guiatar to play with.

pisses me off to have to change my spring tension everytime i tune from B standard to E standard (You have to use 13 gauge straings to get B-standard on the MH-400)..

  • @shoekstra1419 actualy i got the guitar for my birthday jan 31 and its actualy better then the fender to me bc the headstock is easier to use then fender one and i changed the pickups to dimarzios and it sounds just like his all i had to do was tighten up the jack for the cable but i had to do that on my 1,500$ jackson to

  • You'd think Fender would've at least wiped it down before hitting record.

  • its a real shiny guitar,if it was clean youd see lights an camera reflection very clearly

  • Why does that matter.......

  • what do you want him to be like one of those impressionable wannabe gangsters talking in deep voices because they think it makes them cool

  • i just got one for £80

  • I might try one out

If I like it I might get those D Activator pickups too

  • Sik, I'l get one afterafter basic and when I'm stationed. There's two things will be replaced the Bridge with Graphite saddles and pickups.

  • question: does johns tele on the video have a sort of different finish, or is that just the result of fingerprints?

  • It's just the fingerprints

  • It's a good guitar for someone starting out. My first electric was a squire.

  • lol well... everythings pretty much kinda almost the same as my custom hand routed fender.

  • got it, amazin!!! considering fender are mainly used for rock n roll n jazz i just turn the gain on my armp and use my own settings, play it for death metal and its sounds great! great low sound and great high sound!

  • i have a Squier Showmaster and i really think Squier is getting better with every passing yeah since they are cheap i guess its good for the broke musicians like me ! ;) just change the pick ups and get some DiMarzio or some Seymour any brand you like i can say you would think its a more expensive guitar if you didn't know it was Squier im sure of it i would like to see a Squier with dimensions of a Ibanez or Jackson

  • The best Tele to get for the price.

  • Absolutely the best for the price! I bought one and it plays so well I retired my Gibson LP!

  • I'm planning to buy that.

  • anyone who bought it, where was this guitar made ???

  • made in china

  • I've been playing guitar for over 30 years... take my word for it...this Squier is one great sounding Tele.

  • I own both the Tele and the Squier of this model - both are fantastic - of course the more expensive model is better, it always will be, but in terms of a Squier this baby rocks.

  • I too own the USA made J5 Tele and this J5 Squire ...... I have been a long time Les Paul afficionado and this J5 Tele series has won me over big time. Even with the stock Squire pups it sounds/plays fantastic ...... though I did buy a pair of EMG 85s for the J5 Squire, so it will be my main guitar for some time!

  • I was thinking of buying the guitar and sanding down the headstock to a natural finish...or painting over the headstock and logo, then I would put a Fender decal on it. would this be difficult? is the logo raised?

  • Not sure why you would want to do that. It may be a Squier but it is a good guitar - it actually says Squier by Fender on it. And yes the logo is raised.

  • Remember Fender guitars have bolt on necks. Just look for a used fender neck on ebay or craig's list and put that on. I found a used Aerodyne Tele neck on craigs list and put that on my Squier. It looks and plays great.

  • why would you do that

  • @boxboy1111 because "Fender" looks better that "Squier" - simple as that.

  • What?, you to cheap to buy a real fender?

  • @haropro2 yeah

  • Thats REALLY really sad

  • Tell you what, I played a squier tele and an american standard, and liked the squire better, and for the price of a standard i just changed the stock pickups and I sounds a hell of a lot better for less than half the price.

  • get a gibson, you poon.

  • I wish his Fender Signature had the original Tele headtstock. I'd buy one if it did.

  • That makes two of us...

  • I think the J5 Sig Tele headstock is a good design, except it is far too big in size. If they shrank it down about 15-20% percent it would be perfect.

  • hey john it a great great guitar I have for a week and it rock

    you rock .peace

  • What pups are in this?

  • I guess I did goof on the spelling of Squier. It is still unbelievable for being so low cost. I've played it a minimum of once a day since gettting it. It inspires me to practice as much as I should

  • ಠ_ಠ

  • i mean squire :) must be the smoke

  • Comment removed

  • i don't understand why few people write squire, instead of squier ? i know the esquire has that anything to do with it ?

  • goddamn i got to lay off the peyote

  • I am one of them ...... I will remember to write Squier from now on.

  • All I can say is I got this guitar on Friday. I have an Epiphone LP with EMG 81 & 85 pupu, a Dean FBD Tribute ML, a japanese tele with Fender Custom Texas Special pups, and Epiphone SG with Toni Iommi SIgnature pups and after playing this beauty, it instantly ranked up there with my Dean and LP. If the headstock were covered I would be totally fooled that it's a Squire. To me, there is nothing about this guitar that is second rate. And it only cost a fraction of the others.

  • Guys, Squiers are great guitars. :]

but the general rule of thumb is, if you get better materials, you get a better sound. The downside is, you're gonna pay more.

If you just want to play in a few garage bands and such then theres no shame in having a squier, but if you want to do some serious studiowork or musical careers, I'd seriously recommend you step to something in the 450+ price range. There is a noticable change in quality and you'll notice it right away.

  • That is partly true, but the REAL reason pros and weekend warriors don't play them is image...just the name.
