I know this is controversial, but I never enjoyed her gymnastics.

Yes, I appreciate how incredibly explosive and talented she was, but lets face it, she's an acrobat, not a gymnast. BIG difference.

Hence she only did floor....

Huge power, huge explosion, but poor dance, hideous footwork and atrocious landings.

The crowd loves it cause they know it was an epic performance. Gives me goosebumps. And you know people didn't react like this for the winner in 2004...that was a bit of a let down.

I just learn't that dos santos began gymnastics when she was 11 years old!!! i don't know another elite gymnast who started gymnastics when over 10 years old what a talent!!

@liukin95 I think Kathy Johnson began gymnastics at 12. I think Olympic Champions Larissa Latynina and Vera Czaslavska began near their teens as well. But that was more common back in the day. Obviously their great gymnastics of their respective eras would be considered rather basic in modern times but then they did not have the advantage of today's training and equipment.

Like i said before, this is great, but I can not help recalling the 2007 Pan American Games, I can only hope that the people of Brazil will be able to remember about the welcome that all Americans gave this young lady, and to return the favor in the coming 2012 Olympics, when his country will host the games, because frankly, in the 2007 Pan American Games his behavior was so disgusting, I would not like to recall so much meanness on the part of viewers in the stands! It's really that awful!

I was also very upset with the behavior of the Brazilians.

I can only say that I hope that when the Rio de Janeiro hosted the Olympic Games 2016 is our best behavior especially with Americans in my opinion are the best in any sport.

Daiane dos Santos Acho que foi no Mundial de Anaheim, nos Estados Unidos, em 2003, quando fui campeã. Como eu falei, foi uma coisa em conjunto, porque a gente passou por muita dificuldade. Fui a primeira brasileira campeã mundial de ginástica. Foi muito bacana.

Gosto muito das ginastas brasileiras - têm muita força, mas falta um pouco de refino técnico e a frieza que uma Olimpíada exige.

Certamente, Jade e Daiane farão um boa Olimpíada, mas infelizmente não acredito no ouro. Jade é emocional demais. É preciso trabalhar a cabeça dela. Bronze já tá legal.

De todo modo, tenho muito orgulho das duas.
