I am so sick of people saying Neil Peart is the greatest drummer of all time. Neil is a great drummer without question and definitely one of the best. However without Buddy Rich, Keith Moon, and John Bonham, there is no Neil Peart. Plus Neil has had decades more time to develop his craft than Moon or Bonham did. Plus Bonham was more empassioned and used a much smaller set. While Neil is one of my favorites, Bonham was the best in my opinion, with Moon and Peart a close 2nd and 3rd respectively.
I prefer Mitch Mitchell over Moon, mainly because moon was more of a preformer because of his antics on and off the stage rather than his technical playing.
I can respect that. Moon was an animal...so much so that Jim Henson modeled the muppet drummer Animal after him...LOL! However Moon still managed to stay under control even though he seemed so out of it...a sort of controlled frenzy, if you will.
I have tons of respect for Mitch Mitchell, too. I was saddened to hear he passed recently, being I never got to see him play live. Mitch was one of the greatest. He will definitely be missed.
Hey,dont forget Bill Ward of Black Sabbath.Hi sdrumming was extremely influential as well in shaping the heavy metal genre.Look at War Pigs,Paranoid,N.I.B,Children of the Grave(which could be considered the earliest example of groove metal). At the same,Bonzo was a superb drummer as well and highly influential among millions of drummers.
That was really nice. It's kinda sad to see people getting older, and RP will always be at the top of my list of best singers. Thanks for posting this, and thank you Robert Plant for the great years!

John Bonham pretty much influenced 90% of rock drumming today, in one way or another.
