To be fair about this it is worth noting that catholics on a social level quite often are good responsible people. The problem lies with the massive amounts of reports of felony assaults by priests against underage children and the church doing it's best to cover it up. So until this issue is resolved the pressure will continue to increase against the catholic church. The children and their parents deserve justice for this unimaginable crime.
I am a Catholic,and i too am just finding out the truth about the Pope,and the Catholic Church. It does not seem right to me about one fundamental thing who gave the Pope the right to change the Sabbath Day to Sunday. @Biffo347 The "pope" (whichever historical figure you're speaking of) did not change the Jewish Sabbath day of rest to Sunday. Sunday is not considered the Sabbath in Catholic or any Christian worship. Acts 20:7 records how "the first day of the week" (i.e. Sunday) was the day that the early Christians came together for Holy Communion (i.e. the "breaking of the bread.") Really the only two groups of Christians I know who still do this are Roman Catholics and Greek Orthodox Christians.

If the problem was priests having sex with grown women, then allowing marriage might help the problem. However, the vast majority of cases involves homosexual pedophilia. I doubt people who are disposed to this kind of deviant behavior are the "marrying kind."

There are more cases of molestation among Protestant clergy then Catholic. That is a fact.
Celibacy or non marriage is not a cure. The lions share of molestation is committed by sexually active people.
In the USA, less than 1% of priests have been accused. I am not diminishing that it happened, but I also do not follow the media bias either. Even when I was Protestant, I knew the media frenzy was a main cause.
When I think of Roman Catholics I think of statue worship. I see Mary and the saints plastered all over the place. I see Pope having his ring kissed and worshiped. I see Christ on the back burner. Not saying it is true, that is just what to my mind when it think of Roman Catholics. I would think that the Father, Son and Holy spirit are the only ones that should held so high. Mary should have respect but no statue of her should be made.

Why did Mary get so much attention? Wasn't it her son that died for us? Why does the Pope let people kiss his ring like he is a king? God commands no graven images in Ex 20. Just five chapters later He commands graven images for His first Church--the portable sanctuary.

Very good. Now, those prayers are those of the saints on earth - US. Believers on earth are often referred as saints in scripture. Anyone in heaven can present their own prayers to the Lamb; they need no one else to do it for them.
2nd - The 24 elders are the Saints in heaven. How do we know that? Read vs 9 "For You were slain, And have REDEEMED US to God by Your blood." Who are redeemed by the death of Jesus? MEN & WOMEN.

Please read John 6:27-59 very carefully. This is where Jesus teaches the difficult doctrine of the Eucharist. He tells us over and over that we must eat His flesh to have eternal life. That's what's been missing.
The Scriptures themselves are part of the Catholic Tradition that has been handed down through the years. The Church teaches that scripture is only correctly understood we pay attention to the content and unity of the whole Scripture. Proof texting will not lead you to Truth. Remember that Jesus did not hand the Disciples a copy of the Bible. He gave them the Holy Spirit and the authority to teach in his name. This is the same authority that forms the basis of the Church's teaching now.
The pope is called Holy Father, this is blaspheme. They bow before statues, they are not to bow before them or even have them in the church. Bible says not to worship them OR bow before them. When we pray we ask GOD. Jesus did not say to ask Mary for what you need. Intercessory prayer is others praying to GOD for you! not praying to saints. Roman Catholism is paganism.

Though all of the Gospels support Catholic beliefs only, I think the Gospel of John is the one that Protestants must twist the most in order to support their heretical beliefs. For instance, the creative inventions of being "born again" in Jn 3 as meaning something other than baptism. Or the way they try to explain away Christ's command that we must eat his flesh and drink His blood in Jn 6.

When God led His chosen people out of Egypt, he gave them manna from heaven to nourish them on their journey. The manna tasted like wafers made of honey. They were foretastes of the Promised land.
In Jn 6 Jesus promises us the new manna, the Eucharist, to nourish us on our journey to the new promised land. The Eucharist is a foretaste of heaven, and--if you believe what Jesus said himself over and over--it is a requirement to get to heaven.

To be fair about this it is worth noting that catholics on a social level quite often are good responsible people. The problem lies with the massive amounts of reports of felony assaults by priests against underage children and the church doing it's best to cover it up. So until this issue is resolved the pressure will continue to increase against the catholic church. The children and their parents deserve justice for this unimaginable crime.

@Biffo347 The "pope" (whichever historical figure you're speaking of) did not change the Jewish Sabbath day of rest to Sunday. Sunday is not considered the Sabbath in Catholic or any Christian worship. Acts 20:7 records how "the first day of the week" (i.e. Sunday) was the day that the early Christians came together for Holy Communion (i.e. the "breaking of the bread.") Really the only two groups of Christians I know who still do this are Roman Catholics and Greek Orthodox Christians.

As Christians, we are people of the resurrection, not the sabbath.
Since the first century, Christians met on the first day of the week to celebrate the resurrection of Christ, and the Eucharist.

If the problem was priests having sex with grown women, then allowing marriage might help the problem. However, the vast majority of cases involves homosexual pedophilia. I doubt people who are disposed to this kind of deviant behavior are the "marrying kind."

Celibacy or non marriage is not a cure. The lions share of molestation is committed by sexually active people.

@stevesilvia I figured you were talking about the serpent on the pole. Did God tell the people to make statues of his mother or the saints? They were told by Moses by God. I am sure God would of been mad if they would of put up the pole in the tabernacle or in thier tents especially if he didn't ask them to. I don't even think Jesus would want a statue of him built. I don't know a lot about the Pope or the catholic church and am going on what I see and hear but I am going to do some research.

God commands no graven images in Ex 20. Just five chapters later He commands graven images for His first Church--the portable sanctuary.
If God wanted statues in His first Church, what makes you think He does not want them in the true Church that was established by Jesus and given the assurance that She would be led to all truth by the Holy Spirit?

I ask the Father to forgive me in the name of Jesus. Jesus is my middle man. I don't need Mary or the Saints, I just need the Father, Son and Holy Spririt. Very good. Now, those prayers are those of the saints on earth - US. Believers on earth are often referred as saints in scripture. Anyone in heaven can present their own prayers to the Lamb; they need no one else to do it for them.

The Scriptures themselves are part of the Catholic Tradition that has been handed down through the years. The Church teaches that scripture is only correctly understood we pay attention to the content and unity of the whole Scripture. Proof texting will not lead you to Truth. Remember that Jesus did not hand the Disciples a copy of the Bible. He gave them the Holy Spirit and the authority to teach in his name. It's funny how Protestants build their entire belief systems on misunderstanding a Catholic Book and then try to tell the earthly authors what it means.
I consider the phrase "Protestant Bible Scholar" to be an oxymoron. Any Protestant who really understood the Bible would immediately take steps to become Catholic.

Though all of the Gospels support Catholic beliefs only, I think the Gospel of John is the one that Protestants must twist the most in order to support their heretical beliefs. For instance, the creative inventions of being "born again" in Jn 3 as meaning something other than baptism. Or the way they try to explain away Christ's command that we must eat his flesh and drink His blood in Jn 6.

You and other Protestants seem to have no clue what "is in the Bible." They believe things that the Bible does not teach such as the heretical teaching that the Bible is the sole rule of faith. And then they completely ignore things that the Bible stresses such as Jesus commanding that we must eat His flesh to have eternal life.

When God led His chosen people out of Egypt, he gave them manna from heaven to nourish them on their journey. The manna tasted like wafers made of honey. They were foretastes of the Promised land.
In Jn 6 Jesus promises us the new manna, the Eucharist, to nourish us on our journey to the new promised land. The Eucharist is a foretaste of heaven, and--if you believe what Jesus said himself over and over--it is a requirement to get to heaven.

Hate to tell you, "bro", but not only have I read the gospel of John AND am Catholic, I read the Bible and CONVERTED to Catholicism because there is Truth, not personal interpretation to force God into one's own understanding.

Interesting you should say that since studying the whole Bible, and not just parts of it, is what led me out of the errors of Protestantism and into the Truth of Catholicism.
So, I would agree. It is necessary to read the whole Bible and in context.
