If you've got a higher VR then you're supposedly more likely play other people with high VR, but having 3 stars won't have any effect on that.

Yeah, I think if there were more people online these days then you'd generally get matched up with people around your skill level.

For the medium characters, the bests are Mach Bike and Dolphin Dasher. For the large characters, the best is the Bowser Bike.

Start off by using vehicles with good handling, and good mini turbo. That's all I can really suggest, I started off with Manual personally, so it's hard to suggest something as it came pretty naturally.

Manual is definitely not for the wii wheel. I find it way too hard. The gamecube controller is great for manual, though.

Waluigi Stadium was my favorite course for Mario Kart Double Dash. Oh and the racing Luigi sucks. Not the Fabian luigi, but that luigi in the tree race. He was in last place by like a 15 mile.

Yeah, I use a Gamecube controller, you can also use a Classic Controller and a Wiimote + Nunchuck combination

Best thing to do is just to drive fast, don't fall off the side of the course, don't drive off road etc. Best things to do if you want to get a high ranking.

To add to that, use manual drifting, use the turbo boost as much as you can around corners (the point of manual drifting), knowing how to avoid the POW block will certainly help you alot too i think.

Looks like that Nathan guy panicked and fell off the course in Maple Treeway.

I also ran into that Gatchapin guy (the one with the longer Japanese name). I didn't know he was a two-star player. Of course, it doesn't concern me too much, since it was when I was purposely lowering my score.

Good golly, being in 4th place out of 10 lowers your score? Looks like moving on up will be a lot harder once you reach 8500.

I've had matches where I've come 2nd and it's lowered my score and that's with 8 or so people =/ Currently I'm stuck between 8500-8800 points.

Yikes. I guess it is dependent on the rankings of the people above you after all. If you were beaten by anybody below 5000, I'd bet it'll lower your score. I'd reckon that you didn't lose more than you have because everyone in these races were pretty competent, with scores of at least 5600.

Yeah, if I lose to higher ranked people then I don't lose as many points. The problem which arises when it comes to ranking is obviously those stages like Luigi Circuit where one bit of bad luck can put you in 7th and you lose a bucketload of points, but I suppose that's how the game's played.

And the races ion those courses are always pretty close, since everybod playing would be able to follow the course without messing up too bad.

My main on this was Luigi, then Baby Luigi, both on Regular Bike, but then I've tried Dry Bones on Magikruiser for the hell with it, and ended up beating my Luigi Circuit record by 3 seconds :/

Not really, getting a star ranking is pretty much dependent only on time, so drive well and win each race as quickly as possible.

How do u unlock an expert ghost? someone said u have to beat the regular ghost by 7 seconds or more is that true? It sounds almost impossible ive only managed to beat the regular ghosts by a couple seconds. :/

Gotta beat em by 3-10 seconds depending on the track. You'll know when you've unlocked them because you'll see a message saying you have.
