The reason why there so sane right now. is because the guy who is interveiwing them wants to know not just some person thats been chosen due to there nice teeth and can read an autocue. thats when they play with the people.
Jerry makes an excellent point about sex, culture, and the mainstream. The "Whip It" scenario isn't particularly offensive, but it's a parody of what people hold sacred.
Imagine the Budweiser bikini girls. Most people wouldn't complain about them. But now imagine them cleaning toilets... the mainstream would be terribly offended! But why? Surely the Budweiser girls need to clean their toilets just like everybody else. It's a juxtoposition of images which people do not want to associate.
Check out the Weird TV interview on why Mark does commercials. Also, check out the first commercial mark did (for Hawaiian punch) where he embedded a hidden soundbyte.
Jerry is so well spoken, it's interesting to see that they can back up their concepts with actual interesting ideas that are not the run of the mill greed for wealth and fame. This is totally missing in music today. At least music that is popular.
Had Mark and Jerry paid their dues to the church they would not have had the $pace Banker$ dumping a cubic ass load of anti-slack on them. This is a stark fisted object lesson for all you bobbies out there!
I believe the interviewer is former LA Times music critic ROBERT HILBURN. He used to have a cool late-night music review show on cable (Spice Channel?) back in the 80s.
...GUys talking about a different kind of sex than the mainstream??? .Oh my.. this is the joy.
