  • I would travel an place in the world just to be on a concert like this. :(

  • Absolutely amazing!!!

  • 4 orcs didn't liked this, Legolas will take care of them.

  • doing this in February - can't wait :D

  • @hildigunnurr How? Where?

  • @vanzeller0 can't seem to paste a link but see the Iceland Symphony Orchestra's home page sinfonia.is/en/concerts/2012/2/16/nr/1679

  • @vanzeller0 Harpa Concert Hall, Reykjavik, Iceland

  • lo q' mas megusta de ESDLA es todo todo es icreible ynico y le parte la cara a + de una saga como harry potter, narnia y crepusculo(q' no me agrada en nada)

  • everything about lotr is just amazing,wonderfull,magical...^^

  • the chorus adds a haungtingly beautiful touch to this already perfect work of art

  • 3 were given to the elves, immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings. Seven to the dwarf lords, great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls. and nine... nine were given to the race of men... who above all else, desire power.

  • I wish this and Sinatra, billy joel etc. were still in style cuz im 13 and obsessed with all of it the sound of big bands and symphonic orchestras= best things god ever made

  • @ahop999 classical (like Mozart and Bach) is the best music ever made, imho. It's been over 200 (more like 250) years since they were alive and we still listen to and play their music. Let me tell you, the crap people listen to today (Katy Perry, Lady GaGa, etc.) won't even be remembered at all in 200 years.

  • the high strings at 2:00-2:30 are simply amazing

  • It's just... epic. I really love the music from this trilogy >.<

  • The symphonic sound has lasted more than 2 centuries. Hip hop, rap, obnoxious punk-rock will wither and pass in the wind. Brahms, Beethoven will outlive all that stuff.

  • 0:27 GOOSEBUMP CLIMAX !!!!

  • "For the time will soon come ... when hobbits will shape the fortunes of all."

    I hear you Galadriel.

  • this soundtrack goes along better with the books than with the movie :P

  • is 2:01 in bioshock? lol

  • THE BEST BOOK EVER READ =)

  • how is 2:01 called on the soundtrack?

  • Comment removed

  • @hotdamienhendrix prologe :B el primer tema del primer disco

  • @hotdamienhendrix That's the motif for the ring. Every time they talk in the movie about the ring, this theme is played with minor changes

  • 2:01 my heart shakes

  • I love 1:13

  • three rings for the elven kings under the sky.

seven for the dwarf lords in their halls of stone.

nine for mortal men doomed to die.

one for the dark lord on his dark throne.

in the land of mordor where the shadows lie.

one ring to rule them all, one ring to find them.

one ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

in the land of mordor where the shadows lie.

  • I'm a let you finish but Star Wars had the greatest music of all time.

  • @CommanderZerg you're right, star wars HAD the greatest music of all time, until lotr came out.

  • @GangstaBroker i say StarWars and LOTR is the best Trilogy's ever made !

  • @azzim94 Star wars isn't a trilogy seeing as though there are 6 of them. It would be a hexilogy.

  • I love 2:01 - 2:30...that part... .is my favorite of the whole LOTR soundtrack....

  • 'prologue'

  • @b3n890, YAY! That's the first time someone has ever insulted me on youtube!

  • @daddy7860, don't speak of Star Wars in a Lord of the rings video, Star Wars sucks.

  • @MrShnoxdog kindly die before you disgrace sci/fi fantasy as a genre again

  • 1:12 - 2:00 kinda reminds me of star wars

  • don't worry, think about all of the greatest movies of all time, nearly all have a full orchestra as most if not all of their soundtrack...this type of music still has respect and won't die, not yet anyway, its still too cool lol

  • The world is changing...xDDD

  • Where is this? I was at the North American premiere in Montreal, Feb. 23, 2004.

  • Howard Shore= GENIUS

  • this deserves a gazillion views!

  • 3 people have no appreciation for amazing music or cinema

  • @vasanthipillay Prologue One Ring to Rule Them All

  • <3 the music and the movies, but makes me wonder... how long did it take him to write all that music?! Simply amazing!

  • 2:00 >> shivers on my spine

  • 2 dislike this? Wtf did they missed their button or soemthing. None in the wolrd can dislike this :s. Masterpieces, so glad i've all of the music on cd's

  • in christmas time, I rather listen to this than some opera based on a child's tale

  • 2:01-2:30 = :D Amazing

  • i've been trying to find 2:01-2:30 for a looong time online

  • @wafflecraft same very hard 2 track down but finally here

  • @wafflecraft So freaking true ! I've been wasting months just trying to hear this !

  • @wafflecraft me too.......

  • how could anyone dislike this beautiful peice thats just devistating

  • @hikaruandkitty It was probably a misclick.

  • since 2:01 until 2:30 is the most dramatic part. you can feel the deep drama flowing through the enviroment, somehow it makes you feel sad but with some bit of hope, just amazing

  • since 2:01 until 2:30 is the most dramatic part. you can feel the deep drama flowing through the enviroment, somehow it makes you feel sad but with some bit of hope, just amazing

  • I can see Tolkien sitting there listening..

  • "The world is changed.

I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air.

Much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it."

  • Illuvatar should love this music

  • Howard Shore dont write the music

    The music write Howard Shore!!

  • I'm drawing while listening to this, and i'm telling you, I have NEVER drawed soo good! This music is soo inspiring, soo powerful! It makes me shiver everytime I watch or listen to the soundtrack! lotr forever<3

  • Iluvatar bless Howard Shore!

  • One ring to rule them, and in the darkness bind them.......

  • I gotta watch these movies again now... ¬¬

  • @KristyxoxoAnime Me too.

  • Was this released on DVD?

  • 2:01 is exciting but, its not tricky to play. I can play this and im only 12!!!

  • @Kakarotavirus no one cares about age when it comes to music...

  • @Kakarotavirus

    good luck replace them

  • I cannot express how I feel about this music, I do not have the words. It exudes through my entire being.

  • What other movies has Howard Shore made music for?

  • this should play how to train your dragon live.

  • @libbyferrell1 no.... just no.

  • 2:01

    FTW!!!!

  • It saddens me to think that there are too many people who don't respect this style of music anymore, who would rather listen to some simple rap or hiphop song and not appreciate the grandeur of the symphonic sound.

  • @HaroldroughShin true plus rap nowadays sucks

  • @HaroldroughShin Don't get saddened by others wasting their time on rap, hiphop etc. Feel rather superior for being lucky enough to hear such a vaaaast masterpiece!

  • @HaroldroughShin Don't get saddened by others wasting their time on rap, hiphop etc. You should rather feel superior for being lucky enough to hear such a vaaaast masterpiece!

  • @HaroldroughShin

    whats wrong with Hip Hop?

  • @HaroldroughShin you are right people don't appreciate such music like the four who disliked

  • @HaroldroughShin because every one is different ? think man :)

  • @HaroldroughShin Actually I listen to hip hop and rap and still appreciate this music : )

  • @HaroldroughShin All i listen to is metal and hard rock, but i absolutely love the power and emotion of orchestra music too. Rap and hip hop is terrible.

  • The power resonating from those voices and instruments are truly incredible. Howard Shore will go down as one of the greatest composers that ever lived.

  • 1 person didn't make it into the choir.

  • In other words people who think Lord of the Rings isn't cool to them

  • The person who disliked this is probably some dumb person who would rather watch a movie with niggas killing each other and shit like that

  • @jediking12 I think who ever it was missed the like button..

  • This is a fantastic project

    Thank you for sharing

  • who the fuck DIDN'T like this????? He should be crusified naked and be whipped by a balrog while gollum licks his fase.

  • who rote this music o wanna kis his feet sooooooo gooooood!!!!

  • Howard shore, hans zimmer, danny elfman, john williams... are the mozart and beethoven guys of our time!

  • @kthebest14 all made possible, of course, by Bernard Hermann

  • Howard Shore, John Williams, Hans Zimmer = GODS OF CINEMATIC MUSIC

  • @CRISNCHIPS12398 Howard and john yes, hans zimmer isnt really that good imo what about danny elfman?

  • Oh man... the way the atmosphere of each piece fits what's going on in each movie (like Fellowship of the ring being more mysterious and subtle and Return of the King being more epic) is just genius. Howard Shore holds the art of music in the palm of his hand.

  • when i hear what is beggining at 2:00 (the opening theme) i always feel a cold wave

  • I'm crying!

  • i can just imagine sauron forging the ring on this song

  • 2:01 ¡¡¡¡¡wooooooooooooooowwwww¡¡¡¡

  • I actually got to see this live. It was really awesome.

  • i think begining of music was played in Moria when they reached Dwarven city.

    Amazing music!

  • i can't even fathom how difficult it must be to score an ensemble this diverse...that's just awe inspiring. Massive choir plus a full orchestra, not to mention some of the crazy percussion instruments he adds...wow

  • @Crash331x haha that made me laugh.

  • I cannot listen to this score without getting goosebumps. The cellos at the beginning, the haunting chorus, the shimmering strings - can't get enough of it.

  • anyone know where I can find the lyrics to this piece?

  • "3 were given to the elves, fairest and wise. 7 to the dwarves, great miners of the underground cities and 9. 9 were given to the men, who above all desire power."

  • @scorpin969 that's not the original one-.- you didn't read the book...

  • @Zwendal i did read the book. that ones just easier 2 remember. i messed it up anyway.

  • I truly think this is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever listened too! I wish I'll get a chance to see a Howard Shore symphony someday..

The Lord of the Rings is an extraordinary trilogy and the score only emphasized this fact!

This is, hands down, a masterpiece in my ears! Thank you for bringing me this :)

  • It's not music... It's a magic.

  • this is amazing. thanks for those amazing videos !

  • What is the name of the symphony that is playing?

All of their videos are awesome...

  • i wanna learn how to play the violine,so i can play this awsome GODLY music

  • I was fortunate to see this performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. Wonderful experience, Howard Shore is a very humble person on the podium; very simple and precise conducting, nothing extravagant. Artwork and lighting was a great addition to the performance and a real treat to see. They also performed some of the extended version scorework (Gift-giving in Lothlorien comes to mind.) Thanks for posting!

  • Where was this concert?

  • Muy bella melodia.

  • Goosebumps throughout the entire piece. Howard Shore has got to be one of my favorite composers.

  • I'd like to make a correction. You spelled prologue wrong. I'm not making any offense, I just wanted to let you know.

  • I was in the choir in a performance of the symphony in 2006 in Aachen/Germany. It was an open-air-concert on the Katschhof, a square in the center of Aachen between the medieval town hall and the cathedral (which is about 1200 years old), and it was a phantastic and impressing feeling to stand in such a scenery in front of 3000 people and perform such a music. With all these old buildings around you you felt like you were really in Minas Tirith.

  • @aixart Wow, thats amazing!

I wish i could have seen it...

I really would love to hear this music, live.

That must be a hell of an experience.

  • @valcard Well, it was. Even though it rained very much during the whole second half of the concert.

  • Minas Tirith is actually carolingian in style

  • @jewish1972 Indeed. The hall of the kings was very much inspired by the aachen cathedral. You can see that for example in the black and white marble of the colonnades.

  • @aixart

Wish I could have been there!

  • haha Howard Shore looks like a mad scientist up there. You can tell that the other musicians really feed off of his body language on this piece.

  • I love the bit at 2:00, so haunting and beautiful. Thanks for uploading :)

  • Absolutley Amazing.

  • I looooove the whole soundtrack, even the scary ones, but this one here sounds litle bit lower that in the soundtrack, in the soundtrack CD sounds better

  • lo mejor q hay en el mundo es increibles, hasta se me pone la piel de gallina!!! rajado lo exageradamente buenos q son!!!! :)

  • Raphael : Above all, there is an English horn (alto oboe in F), who takes the violins theme, and obviously, it's awesome.

  • i like 2:01 to the end, the violin and clarinet parts are awesome!!

  • OMG, It doesn't work anymore here!

  • Music by Howard Shore. Very nice, and, the magic them, (2' 02")... How to say, it's so deep, so distant, so strange...

  • When and where was this concert???
