Hi, I made ten buckets of crushed charcoal in the fall, mixed it with forest soil, and soaked it over winter. The resulting soil texture is amazing!
I put my supply of this "terra preta" in the cinder-blocks lining my strawberry patch, and planted garlic in it. The mineral content of the new mix almost exactly matches that of the strawberries : )
