Anybody know of any games like this? I loved spartan total warrior and viking, but they seem to be two of a kind. Dynasty warriors kinda sucks. Mount and blade is awesome, love that one, but i'm looking for a console game. any recommendations? you know for RPG games with massive battles.

this game was shit. i love the vikings and the whole norse pantheon its practically my religion but this game butchered it. cutscenes were 2D! really? like they couldnt of done at least better art work. gameplay blows and the game is short. i hate to diss it but it really was not a good game. the only gods they even show are Hel and Freya. my hope is they create a sequel that is a LOT more complete. theres a lot they could have done with the game.

ty rey for backing my statement up. yes the cutscenes were 2D Hell. 2D is when its not 3 dimensional. as in its Flat. a 3 dimensional cutscene is when the characters are moving and talking and you have a 360 view around them like in final fantasy. the newer ones. and im sure i could use a lot of other games as examples. 2D is on one plane 3D is on multiple planes.

If your looking for a straight up slaughter fest with little story.. This is game for you..the battles are great.. Tho a bit repetitive its still fun..Encountered a few minor glitches..the only one that annoyed me tho was when your fighting a enemy on a hill.. Its impossible to hit them if your fighting downhill.. Your attacks miss almost every time... other then that.. This game is great.. IMO its not worth buying because its very short...
I rented this one and had it beat within 2 1/2 days.. its not really liner so much as it is just easy...All the quests are straight forward and simple.. the best ones are the infiltration quests...Another reason you shouldn't buy this game.. is once you beat it.. there is no extra content.. I figured once you beat it there would at least be a "battle replay" option.. or just anything to extend the gameplay.. but there isn't.. Once you beat it...Thats it.. Its over.. lol
Another thing that was sorta lame was you never get upgrades, You look the same throughout the entire game..Even when your sword gets upgraded it does not change its appearance..to me it seems just lazy not to add in at least a few better weapons, I would have liked to see some ornate swords/axes Spoiler- its just stupid to imbue your weapon with god-slaying capabilities and its appearance doesn't change in the least..If anything it should have glowed or something...
my only real complaint with this game is that its way to linear. I would have like to seen some more openness. and maybe make the sieges more strategic, with the ability to direct the legions so they dont stand around like idiots. And maybe a defensive siege instead of offensive. Regardless its still a fun game.
I played it 2 times, its a great game, the only thing that bugs me is that when your goddes appears in the middle of the game, her mouth doesn't move when she talks.
by the way, I don't understand the ending, hel sais something and then BOOM the game is done, so is there a second game coming or what?

Ah yes the Vikings, the best warriors since the Spartans and only succeeded by the German Wehrmacht of WW2. But the inaccuracy of this game is overwhelming, its depiction of Viking society/culture is completely wrong. But then again it is Asians making it, and it's only a game so no big deal, looks cool though!!

They are the same ethnically they just have different cultures and languages, although when I speak with Swedes and i speak German we can understand eachother, and Germany is a Nordic nation just like Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark the reason it's not often counted as one is because it is not geographically in Scandinavia, but culturally and ethnically Germany is as Norse as the rest. I know the history of my own people (Vikings and Saxons)

That's not necessarily true. Sutr, Loki, and Fenrir will all die, as well as all giants. Some of the gods will survive, and the world will be reborn anew. I'm not sure that can be called 'losing'.

Why don't you just keep on wishing that that happened. After the vikings lost control over England, many vikings had settled there and were partly blooded saxons. Plus, after the vikings' rule was over, the normans came, who where decendants of the vikings. And even if you're theory would've been correct, you coulden't have captured many warriors, since most of the vikings were subordnaties to the warlords Egil Skallgrimmarson, Ivar the boneless and Erik Bloodaxe, who all left before that.
Look you have to remember that Vikings and Saxons are both ethnically Germans, as Germans, Dutch, Belgians, Norse, Swedish, Danish and Icelandic people are all the same race (Nordic Race), and therefore they is no good reason for why they fought. Few people now could tell the difference between an armed Saxon and Viking if they were standing together but Saxon doesn't equal English, as Saxony is a state of Germany today. Saxons are Germans and Vikings are very similar
how many hours does this game take to finish? im juggling games by length, if it tackles atleast 15-20 ill buy it in a few days.. im so pissed alone in the dark got moved a few months, not that gta4 wont be enough for me on tuesday just that i gota put that alone in the dark money somewhere :P

Yeah, Spartan: Total Warrior was a badass game, I got Viking: Battle for Asgard 3 days ago and in my opinion its not as good, its still a great game, I just like Spartan better ^_^
i love the norse mythology, does play a lil like god of war, but still pretty good, on the other hand the game does have its own story line, and that defeating hel daughter of loki god of mischief or odins adopted troll that he took as his son untell thor was born in the original myth
Sincerely, i prefer scandinavian than helenic mytholigy. So many of their gods are TRUE WARRIORS (thor, tyr and odin himself). They were people damned, and they know their sad future, the death in the hands of the Jotuns.
In the fantastic, and the inspiration for a "beat and kill and blood" game, i think scandinavian is the best choice! No more homo nude spartan, feel the rage of the people of the frozen north!
God of war fights for his Gods and wants to be freed froom his thoughts, and viking fights for his godess and fights for his freedom ive played both games and to me its like god fo war, both games are awsome

Ah yes the Vikings, the best warriors since the Spartans and only succeeded by the German Wehrmacht of WW2. But the inaccuracy of this game is overwhelming, its depiction of Viking society/culture is completely wrong. But then again it is Asians making it, and it's only a game so no big deal, looks cool though!!

Have you not read history? They are the same ethnically they just have different cultures and languages, although when I speak with Swedes and i speak German we can understand eachother, and Germany is a Nordic nation just like Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark the reason it's not often counted as one is because it is not geographically in Scandinavia, but culturally and ethnically Germany is as Norse as the rest. I know the history of my own people (Vikings and Saxons)

That's not necessarily true. Sutr, Loki, and Fenrir will all die, as well as all giants. Some of the gods will survive, and the world will be reborn anew. I'm not sure that can be called 'losing'.

Yeah, blood and body parts that immediately disappear. Also, the trailer doesn't show the large distracting button promts that show up over the kill animations.
But I'm still having fun playing it and making videos of it.

Why don't you just keep on wishing that that happened. After the vikings lost control over England, many vikings had settled there and were partly blooded saxons. Plus, after the vikings' rule was over, the normans came, who where decendants of the vikings. And even if you're theory would've been correct, you coulden't have captured many warriors, since most of the vikings were subordnaties to the warlords Egil Skallgrimmarson, Ivar the boneless and Erik Bloodaxe, who all left before that.

Look you have to remember that Vikings and Saxons are both ethnically Germans, as Germans, Dutch, Belgians, Norse, Swedish, Danish and Icelandic people are all the same race (Nordic Race), and therefore they is no good reason for why they fought. Few people now could tell the difference between an armed Saxon and Viking if they were standing together but Saxon doesn't equal English, as Saxony is a state of Germany today. Saxons are Germans and Vikings are very similar

how many hours does this game take to finish? im juggling games by length, if it tackles atleast 15-20 ill buy it in a few days.. im so pissed alone in the dark got moved a few months, not that gta4 wont be enough for me on tuesday just that i gota put that alone in the dark money somewhere :P

norse mythology = the "religion" in old scandinavia.. not only norway ;) so, this is based on norse mythology kind of.. but at the same time, it got pretty much nothing to do with this mythology cuz it's just bullcrap and entertaining and feels like lotr rip off! awesome game <3

Yeah, Spartan: Total Warrior was a badass game, I got Viking: Battle for Asgard 3 days ago and in my opinion its not as good, its still a great game, I just like Spartan better ^_^

i love the norse mythology, does play a lil like god of war, but still pretty good, on the other hand the game does have its own story line, and that defeating hel daughter of loki god of mischief or odins adopted troll that he took as his son untell thor was born in the original myth

Sincerely, i prefer scandinavian than helenic mytholigy. So many of their gods are TRUE WARRIORS (thor, tyr and odin himself). They were people damned, and they know their sad future, the death in the hands of the Jotuns.
In the fantastic, and the inspiration for a "beat and kill and blood" game, i think scandinavian is the best choice! No more homo nude spartan, feel the rage of the people of the frozen north!

you will have to fight your way on the bridge untill you get to the gate then you must go right their is a net climb it and then you must fight untill you reach the chest
