@Bearswin8584 I saw this dude live in Boston. It was insane. The guy is just very creative. His ear for beats and samples is incredible. If anything else, I look for creativity as much as I look for a guy who can play a mean bass. So just give his creativity credit and leave it at that.

Haha accomplished composer. Look, composing music is hard. I do it, too. I play guitar, banjo, and keyboards. But let me tell you, knowing 11 strings, 88 keys, and a couple dozen chords is a hell of a lot easier than having thousands of songs in your head and mixing them on the spot. I can't believe he does this live. I could never do this. Meta-music is harder than original music, except for classical and metal.
DJs like Girl Talk and Dan Deacon inspire a new sound and genre. This is what musicians do. Elvis, the Beatles, and Hip-Hop in general have all had their credibility questioned. Mashing up, or cyber/musical composition, or whatever you want to call it, is experiencing the same criticism. It will pass.

and your point being? There are many artists out there that aren't musicians, yet somehow, manage to play beautiful music. Are you saying that in order to be able to play music, you have to be a classically trained musician? I think not. One of the great and many talents that God has bestowed upon man is the gift of creativity. Ok. So tell me this. Artists like Armin van Buuren, DJ Tiesto, and many of the other trance/techno lords...does this make them mashup artists? No. They blend 2 or more songs together in a long stream of artistically blended beats, moods, and vibes. I'm not contesting the fact that this guy does mashups. But to not call him a musician is like saying someone who tags a subway car as not an artist. These folks take a medium and use it to their best ability.

Tiesto, Justice, Daft Punk, these people when they perform live, sure they just mix their loops live, but at one point, they composed ORIGINAL material to be mixed, doesnt matter if they are classicaly trained or not, point is they created their own pieces of music to be mixed and blended, people who tag subway cars are artists to an extent, it depends what they tagged on the subway car...

yeah and robert rauschenberg simply rode the avante garde artist train in the 1950s. im not saying that GT will mean as much to music as Rauschenberg did to modern art, but what they are doing for their time is very similar. if you cant see any creativity what Girl Talk is doing you simply arent trying, or youre just too dumb to see it.

I would suggest checking out some Amon Tobin,
who until recently used only pre-recorded samples for all his music or Steve Reich's early tape loop stuff(1965-66): It's Gonna Rain and Come Out. Really John Cage was the first to use record players as instruments in Imaginary Landscape No. 1 (1939). Look these names up on Wikipedia. I wouldn't consider their work uncreative because they only used samples and I play multiple instruments. You seem to have a dated interpretation of creativity.
