Yeeeah... the average mechanic would be able to rip out the fucking wire(s) or whatever connects the car with OnStar. Dilemma solved. Besides, why bother slowing down the vehicle? Cop cars' performance is tweaked in the factory so they can go faster than the original models we buy at dealerships. In short, they could accelerate and catch up with us no problem so having this OnStar disabler thing is almost unnecessary. Maybe it's to make up for the cops' sloppy driving skills. @_@

I hate the idea of this level of control, but in all honesty I have to admit that the pros outweigh the cons. Yes it's possible that onstar might cut power to the wrong car (unlikely) but that's just an inconvenience. This system could probably save many lives. If your vehicle was labled as having this feature fitted it's unlikely anyone would bother to steal it anyway.
Why not have fingerprint recognition to be able to start the car in the first place? Even iris scanning.

I removed onstar from my impala ss. I don't need some call center clerk with the ability to shut my car down. I used to provide onstar with temp employees & I wouldn't have trusted one of them with the ability to control my car.
Personally, I think it's a good idea. Something like this can and will help Law Enforcement in apprehension of fleeing felons and in the prevention of high speed collisions that result in injuries or even death. Personally, I wouldn't want this feature because 1) I am a proud owner of a Ford and 2) I want full-time function of my vehicle,.

Well what if you are aware of the system and you put it and Neutral and cut the power and open the door (that way everything shuts off) and you are kind of slowing down but then you start the car back up and keep going (I don't know if that is possible I am not really much of a transmission nut) then will the system still be on like when you make a phone call?

well as good as this is, it will only reduce the percent by 20% as police chases dont only involve GM vehicles, and this will only tell car thieves to stop stealing GM vehicles, so then they will just move to ford or dodge, it is good but wont do much to the percent of police pursuits

The decision to install this on a car, must be made only by its owner, and the owner must be the only one who can decide to disable his or her own car when it is stolen or used without his or her approval. I hate the idea of this level of control, but in all honesty I have to admit that the pros outweigh the cons. Yes it's possible that onstar might cut power to the wrong car (unlikely) but that's just an inconvenience. This system could probably save many lives. If your vehicle was labled as having this feature fitted it's unlikely anyone would bother to steal it anyway.
Why not have fingerprint recognition to be able to start the car in the first place? Even iris scanning.

I removed onstar from my impala ss. I don't need some call center clerk with the ability to shut my car down. I used to provide onstar with temp employees & I wouldn't have trusted one of them with the ability to control my car.

Personally, I think it's a good idea. Something like this can and will help Law Enforcement in apprehension of fleeing felons and in the prevention of high speed collisions that result in injuries or even death. Personally, I wouldn't want this feature because 1) I am a proud owner of a Ford and 2) I want full-time function of my vehicle,.
