  • This has always been one of my all time favorites1

I used to put this on, close my eyes and sway to the groove!

Thanks for posting this mrpower328, you're the best!

  • this could have been a nice single from 1977

  • This song is EVERYTHING...

    This groove is EVERYTHING...

They really do need to re-release their albums because just imagine how this song would sound remastered.

  • @Nina513 You are so right! This music deserves to be remastered! Star-fiyah!

  • I hope they re- release this classic album with extra tracks and demos of course.

  • Jamiroqui ate this sound and ran with it!!!!!!!

  • @orange1funky Brand New Heavies... Incogneto... all of 'em...

  • Maxwell should do a cover of this immediately...

  • This song is hard bop like Joe Sample and the Crusaders. Endless, infinite possibilities for this family collectively and as individuals had they been allowed to simply grow into their own and not what the industry wanted them to be. They should be up there with Will Downing, Jeffrey Osborne, Peabo, and other R&B/Soul artists who are still out there getting down.

  • The pecussion in this song goes so hard! Go 'head, Mr. Leon!

  • 1 person is singing Star Water.

  • If I ever ride through a big city again at night, I want THIS song on full blast!!!

  • Mannn!!! this is the jammm!

  • Now, I want to hear every track on this album!

  • Leon outdid himself on this album...A fine piece of work.

  • Nice track.

  • Can you upload the rest of the album?

  • This is probebly their best album. The way Leon intended.

  • I must find this album..this song is fire!

  • I LOVEEEEEE this song. Wewww.

  • Just saw the UNSUNG episode on TVOne, and this family is musically gifted...Leon Sylvers' writing, production talents...just phenomenal....WOW. I could listen to their harmonies all day...just beautiful..

  • @lovebeingamum40

I just finished seeing their story on, "Unsung" as well. I always liked them, and this song right here was one of my favorites by them.

  • Man, The Sylvers, I DIGGGSSS. I found this 8TRACK at the thrift store for 2 bucks, I CAME UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i remember this cut, a nice instrumental

  • Sorry for the double post.

  • I never thought I'd here this cut again. Thanks for posting it.I was 17 when I bought this joint, and the only reason I bought the whole album was for this one cut.WBLS use to play it in hometown(N.Y.C.)around the time I always seemed to be getting blunted,It sounded even better then!

  • I never thought I'd here this cut again. Thanks for posting it.I was 17 when I bought this joint, and the only reason I bought the whole album was for this one cut.WBLS use to play it back home(N.Y.C.)around the time I always seemed to be getting blunted,It sounded even better then!

  • Thanks mrpower328. Unique blend of jazz and soulful vocals.

One of my very favorite Sylvers' songs. Fantastic rhythm! Splendid group!

  • This takes me back to high school.....the best Sylvers album released and their last on Capitol before the family moved to Solar!

  • @tljones9 sfunny you mention that cos on my first listening to this tune i detected a kinda Shalamar sound on the bass and arranging.

  • Okay. WHY is it SO hard to find this song? :-(

  • @perri6. Hard to find is an understatement. This song is almost impossible to find. Lucky my big brother bought this album when it first came out and I kept it in good condition and converted it to mp3 format.

  • @mrpower328

Lucky you! :-) I couldn't find "Boogie Fever: The Best of the Sylvers" for years. I was able to snag it on amazon.com a year or so ago. Maybe "New Horizons" will be remastered on CD or something. :fingerscrossed:

  • Black soul music - first quality....

  • I wrote this jam and Leon stole it from me.... But that's OK cause I was hittin Angie!

  • @messagemon you'd better be telling the truth, she shows up around here at times, ya know...

  • @messagemon

    Snap! LOL

  • I have been sleeping on this group I did not realize how good they really were, thanks for putting these tracks on.

  • @gustea2008 Indeed, I discovered them 2 years ago and i'm now a major fan! They had great songs beyond 'Boogie Fever' and rivaled the Jacksons in quality output. Thanks to Mr. Power & all the fam on YT putting this material up.

  • Love you ... The Sylvers are smooooooth.

  • Sylvers, Jacksons, Debarges, what beautiful black families. Man we don't do them like that anymore. I wish we could produce talented families like this again.

  • @jesusneverexisted300 yeah, its crazy that we can`t find talented families like that again, and during the time that the families were out, we nevergave them a chance to be themselves, we always compaired them to the Jackson 5 so to the Media, and Us as Fans Shame On Us, Now were finally starting appreciate the Beauty of those talented family Groups , as indiviguals 30 yrs later.................Shame On Us!!!!!!!

  • @dpage67 i agree. and as an "old school lover", i was familiar with the song "Boogie Fever" but not the group. Shout out and much luv to TVONE and their great UNSUNG series.

  • this sounds good, thang ricky ricky ricky......

  • Damm this was the jam in 1977-78

  • @IDRIS1130 1977 and 1978 was a good year for music

  • @graydog788

    GRAYDOG 788

    ( I WISH I HAD A TIME MACHINE ! )

  • man this song. .I can just see myself at home on a friday night with the curtains wide open watching the city lights, with this track on.

  • @DigitalEdition Yeah that's it right there, evening classic!

  • Olympia was my crush....And I had a huge 'fro like the guys. I had to have one. All through high school. LOL

  • The sisters were so damn fine!!!!

  • Hell yeah, they was beauty queens. I wish I could of meet them back then.

  • I believe the incomparable Steve Gadd is playing drums on this song. Listen to the fills at the end. Similar to the drum break on Steely Dan's AJA.

  • bullshit

  • No it's not! That fucker Leon ripped me off! That's ok cause he got black balled.

  • Tell us more on this story, sounds real interesting

  • @messagemon Please explain...

  • Messagemon. Croon3.I gotta ask you do you know my Goduncles Gene Dozier and kenny St. Lewis? You said that Leon got blackballed. What happened? Hit me back with that info.

    Croon3

  • @messagemon wow you sound really bitter!!!

  • I agree Wayne. The Sylvers are the bomb. Very talented family. R.I.P Edmund you are sorely missed....

  • With Ricky on guitar, Leon on bass, James on keyboards, and the girls putting in some fine vocals, one can understand why the Sylvers were one of the best in the game back in the day. And the production values on this track are stellar. Within a year Dick Griffey and Don Cornelius would lure Leon away from the group to become the legendary producer for the SOLAR roster.

  • I used to love this song. been looking for it for years.

  • Damn this song is tight.

  • I love this song...it did not get the reconition as their other great hits...great song...great group!

    Rip Edumund Sylvers!
