  • this was a classic when it came out. It's nice seeing it live now.

  • This is great! An underrated track.

  • Pat Metheny Group, one of the hardest working, most active touring groups in jazz history, and most successful, deservedly so!

  • The best track from American Garage!!!

  • Pat Metheny is a big fan of the Beatles, but when he became a musician he went to a totally different kind of music from pop music, I guess you can say that the Pat Metheny Group is the Beatles of jazz fusion, very innovative in the music they create and every piece of work that they come out with is just about superb.

  • PMG has been one of the best bands ever !!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is new to me, its brilliant!!! this man makes the guitar talk and sing. it fascinates me. and yes i also have long hair

  • WOW Waht an amazing story rkelly wish I had been there for that epic show at

tha Ravina in Chicago. I've been a loyal fan since 1978 and feel blessed

each and every day for being a fan of PMG.

  • @seabobinsd Awesome. I've known metheny's music only some years now, and i play totally different style of music. Yet, Pat's music is unquestionably something that defined whole word music to me in new way and have had the most impact on me personally. It's just unbeliavable good, and all the players he uses are phenomenal.

  • IS IT JUST ME OR DOES EVERYONE IN THIS BAND AT THAT TIMEHAVE LONG HAIR XD

    huge metheny fan btw!!

  • I've vinyl version of "American garage", but I discovered it on a my brother's tape...many songs in one! My father could say "rhapsodic", but he flees "fusion", saying that is about to die (he only listens to classicals).

  • how old is he in this video??he seems to be in his 20's. so young and such an amazing musician...it was only the start of his brilliant career!

  • My favorite Pat Metheny song. So deep emotions in there...

  • Gracias por subir esta magnífica versión.

  • The Epic...First Circle. Que difìcil elegir. GRACIAS POR POSTEARLO.

  • When I was 17 I bought American Garage and listened to The Epic about 100 times in three days. The next day I was driving somewhere and heard PMG was at Ravinia in Chicago that night. I turned the car around, headed to the theatre and bought a lawn seat. I was able to get a spot close to the stage. To say I was blown away is an understatement. I will never forget that night for the rest of my life. The Epic remains one of my fav music pieces of all time. Thanks Pat!

  • @rkelly62 Wow lucky you. I would have done the same thing dude.

  • one of the greatest -EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is a truly epic composition!

  • Hi youtubers im totally new to this group but i really like them

is there an album of that year or 1977

i would love to buy it

  • go buy "american garage", 1980

Ecm is now remastering most of metheny's old works and selling them in small cd packaging for just 10€

sorry for my poor english i'm italian

  • they not being remastered, just repackaged and thank god, in print again. The only group albums that have been remastered were originally on the Geffin label and are being re-released on Nonesuch. I would start wit the 1st 'white' album, on ECM and work my way up chronologically.

  • or if your lucky you can buy them in any CD Depot

  • ohhh yesss more of this gig, this is all amazing and awsome thanks u soo much!!!!!

  • This Song still is one of or even THE favorite one of the PMG. I love the studio version and played drums to it with the earphones on, I guess more than 200 times:)...They put so much energy inside...it's simply awesome. love it

  • Eine parallele Welt, komplex genug, um es mit der Wirklichkeit aufzunehmen, und so klar, dass sie zeitlos präsent ist.

    Top

(Lyle Mays Solo wird hoffentlich noch folgen!)

  • Love the intro to this song so much, just friggin insane

  • Great - a really solid record of the group at this amazing, formative time. Priceless.

  • Unbelievable. These old PMG vids are my favorite, just imagining how people's minds were being blown by this sound. You can hear how they were on this mission to change music and be unlike anything else. Thanks for posting!

  • You're right. And they played (still do) MUSIC, not just some supposedly innovative noise.

  • YESSSS!!!!!!! This tune is awesome!
