  • To Americanised, but good bands though.

  • @cha00halo is that because this is Americas top 30? Because im from the U.S. and im pretty sure my top 30 is way different. I dont think "To Americanised" is the proper description...

  • remeber this is your top 30 noone elses. i used to bouce for alot of punk and ska bands knumbskull productions all over from santa cruz to ventura county.

    D, ,

  • Ore Ska Band, BEST SKA BAND.

    Their best son ever: Pinocchio

    Listen to it.

  • Shaggydog , the best Ska Band from Indonesia.

  • Link 80 is tight as crud!!

  • my favorite ska band is Arrogant Sons of Bitches

  • uh wat about Streetlight Manifesto!? I mean they may be a bit more mainstream than the rest of these if that's ur problem but theyre still fucking amazing

  • Union Jack Ftw

  • i knew iv heard this kind of music before and by song 20. i instantly remembered tony hawks pro skater for nintendo 64 :D

  • Goldfinger!!

  • just getting into ska and thanks for posting this up, defs checking all them out more in depth, cheers.

  • they were lll amazing but streetlight manifesto is my favorite if you dont know who they are look them up there amazing too.

  • Ska? Think your thinking of more Punk Ska it looks like to me. To not have Fishbone or The Skatalites where all Ska came from is a shame.

  • Best Ska band ever= BAMF!

  • holy fuck!!! i didn't even know there WAS 138 ska bands lol

  • if you like our British ska check out madness and the specials dude you should really like them

  • nice list man personally i woulda made room for reel big fish, less than jake and save ferris but thats just me

  • @202joeortiz

Less Than Jake was on this list.

  • Why no streetlight....?

  • Two words: The Aggrolites. Operation Ivy did something original and had a good sound, and could even hold a steady, soulful rhythm. Yet the flood of ska-punk bands after them sucked horribly. As a native San Diegan, I have seen plenty of white reggae and ska artists, and I've gotta say, I'm not impressed. It's getting old.

  • my favs are the flatliners stop drop and skank illscarlett and the johnstones

  • Alot of these bands don't really seem like Ska... it kinda sounds more like Punk... like NOFX and all that use trumpets and stuff but they're not Ska... Ska seems to be just some cool word someone wanted to rename punk with... dunno just my opinion

  • WHERE THA FUCK IS >>>>STREETLIGHT MANIFESTO<<<< Best Ska band ever!

  • Check out Ska-P. Pretty good from Spain.

  • Nice list tho you tend towards the ska punk side a little too much for me. If you live in socal check out Starpool in case you haven't seen them. They are my all time favorite ska band

  • Why do people keep saying you shudda added streetlight manifesto? That band blows asshole

  • BTMI good number three choice. but who doesnt like reel big fish? nobody that's who.

  • Peeeeoople dnt u listen???? Its HIS top k so jst enjoy

  • Um...why isn't Operation Ivy first?

  • Great job on the video. You picked a bunch of good bands (:

  • @keymaster2,sorry if you misunderstood, what i ment was american ska is shit

  • Comment removed

  • i thank you for taking the time to do this, but american ska is not right, look at your no1,american ska is not ska

  • @MrSka67

American ska is not true ska? What a ridiculous comment. Ska is found from all over the world, and if you knew these bands you would know that I featured MANY bands from the UK, a couple from Mexico, France, and even Korea. It just so happens that the US and UK are the hotpot of ska music, especially where I live, Southern California, which gave birth to the Third Wave Ska movement influencing thousands of bands that form later worldwide

  • @keymaster2 The Guy has a piont dude some of this stuff is borderline punk, I was shocked bands like the beat and the specials werent even there

  • Fuck Yeah man Stupid Stupid Hencmen

  • WHY ISN"T STREETLIGHT MANIFESTO ON THERE ?!?!?!?! NOOOO

  • You should check out Blag and Sonic Boom Six if no one said it yet. Yea they're UK but they're great.

  • @roccorock997 sonic boom six are shite

  • @eddyheal What're you on about SB6 are fucking great.

  • wazup? where did real big fish go? ohhhh you in the beginning.... ohhhhh

  • the flatliners arent ska punk anymore,

  • Lots of comments have said this but.... No Streetlight Manifesto?

  • great list, introduced me to some new bands, but reel big fish, streetlight manifesto, and madness aren't even mentioned I know reel big fish might be a little more mainstream but you had the most mainstream of them all on here (Less Than Jake)

  • No We Are The Union :(

  • LTJ at 14 wth dude!

  • hey key, check out the mighty mighty bosstones, you would like them

  • Goldfinger<3

  • I agree with @12COLLINS12 you introduced me to like 15 new bands that I am really eager to check out and have my mp3.

  • YEA mustard plug!!!!!! saw them four times in one year!!! they are my favorite!! good list btw and where did you find some of these guys?

  • Yay! Less Than Jake! The band that introduced me to ska :) This fucker at my school is always saying LTJ sucks whenever I wear one of their shirts (He listens to Five Iron Frenzy primarily) Man, I hate that bitch. Anyways, some bands I recommend you check out- The Exposed (Their from the UK but come to the US alot!) Tsunami Bombs and Whole Wheat Bread, oh! and The Supervillains. Really cool bands.

no offensce it sounds way better n we play it better

  • Sorry, But I Think That You Should Listen To Ska Bands From All The World, If Not I Think You're Missing The Point Of Ska, UNITY :D

Although Thanks For All The Bands :D

    I Didn't Knew Like 29 xD

Akoode Actually Is Kind Of Right, All Your Bands Are, Third Wave Ska Bands Or Ska Punk :D

    But They're Great Anyway :B

  • yes... just because you didn't post the groundbreaking 2-tone music, or top charting ska, doesn't make it a bad mix... just differen't ska. i learned some new great skacore bands. thanks for the killer list

  • who did cuban missile crisis and dogs dont do drugs and they had a song called talk laugh cry

  • YOU SOUND LIKE A FAGGOT

  • aint been on in a while but i fucking told u old ska is the best! skacore is shit! The Specials best ska band ever!

  • awesome, who cares what these other kids say. everyone has their own favourite music. and you just introduced me to alot of new bands. thanks dude!

  • streetlight manifesto? mighty mighty? supervillains? really?

  • Where is: Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, Madness, Mad Heads XL, Spitfire, Distemper, Leningrad, Ska-P, Karamelo Santo, Potshot, Kemuri, Mighty Mighty Bosstones just to name a few? :( Ska is around the world not just in US and UK... :(

  • @MrGreyDot

Union Jack are french just to name one

  • 7 bands out of 30, 23 are shit bands. Where is Fishbone, The Specials, The Selecter, Bad Manners, Buck-O-Nine,Madness, and many others. Mist if the bands on the list aren't even ska, but shit poser wanna be ska punk. Sorry, just my opinion!

  • @akoodee Yah man, you're so fucking original. You choose the biggest ska bands in the world. Just because you've never heard of my bands doesn't mean they're poser ska.

  • @akoodee this is how an idiot that nobody like comments on a "favorites" list

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for the upload man, great band choices!

    5/5

  • ok you gotta get you taste bud checked... go listen to "West Bound Train" " The Bottle Cap Bandits" "tokyo Ska Paridise Orchestra" " The Delegates"..... like for real dude. some of the bands are good but none of them are great by any means... less than jake and skankin pickle is about as good as your tastes get at the moment.... seriously go listen to those bands I listed EVERYONE do it. also if you want something that is quite ska go listen to "Rx Bandits" or "The Dear Hunter"

  • @laurelwilde

Thanks. I'll check them out. :D

  • @laurelwilde This is how a respectable person comments on a video. I am new to ska so thank you for the suggestions:)

  • [spunge] is a fucking beast

  • REEL BIG FISH SHOULD BE ON HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @gowhitesox12

    REEL BIG FISH IS OVERRATED!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @keymaster2 NO CHINKMASTER2 REEL BIG FISH IS AMAZING! U DONT KNOW WHAT UR DOING, I DONT SEE REEL BIG FISH EVEN ON THE LIST WTF? REEL BIG FISH IS AMAZING!, AND GOLDFINGER #30 WTF??? IT SHOULD BE 1.RBF 2.BIGD. 3. GOLDFINGER, 4. CHOKING VICTIM! WTF IS THE CHINKEES DOING ON HERE! THERE ASAIN, AND ASAIN PEOPLE FAIL!

  • This is mostly skacore it seems like. I didn't like most of these. I prefer stuff like the Toasters and (which I realize you included)

And of all the 2 Tone era bands you picked my least favorite hahah

  • @JamesIsMyNamo

I hate Madness with a passion. The Specials are great, but highly overrated. The Selector and The English Beat are the only ones who actually deserve a mention.

  • @keymaster2 I like the debut album of Madness, and I love the Specials. I also really like The Selecter's album that I have. The English Beat never stuck with me to be honest.

    But that's just me!

  • Lots of Ska bands I didn't catch. Thanks for those. Now I got more songs to add!

  • Yahaaaaa Against All Authority, capdown! not gonna lie rancid and specials would be on my list but this is still pretty bomb. -AAA- is one of the best skacore bands

  • What about old school? Whoever made this list SUCKS!

  • @StuckOnaNameBand

Old School? Do you know even the slightest thing about Old school ska? What are you going to say? Specials, Madness? Bad Manners? Get the fuck out of here, seriously.

  • @StuckOnaNameBand Youre the one hwo sucks

  • YEAHHHHHH!!! Bomb The Music Industry is number 3!! haha, i'm the only one in my town who listens to them. same with Arrogant Sons Of Bitches, you forgot them!! haha!

  • @assortedfish

I didn't forget them. BTMI is just better.

  • HOW! are the Specials and Madness NOT in your top 30!! crazy bastard.

  • @TOW3L1E

Specials and Madness sold out big time.

  • @keymaster2 that shouldn't mean they don't deserve a place in the top 30, they're know pretty much as ska legends... the type of bands who introduced this music to tons of people............. BUT ............ fair enough, this is your top 30 and you have got a nice choice in bands.

  • WTF!!! how the fuck did u not put the skatalites!? they fucking made ska! how could u not put the specials or madness who taught u dum ass american about fucking ska! majorty of the bands just there wasnt fucking ska!!! listen to price buster, rico, the specials, madness, then ur know what ska is!

  • @2specials

what an ignorant shithead you are. The Skatalites invented ska, sure. The Madness sold their asses off. The Specials are a good band, don't get me wrong, but overrated as fuck. Most of the bands here are fairly underground. I know all those bands, and you are a fucking racist for calling Americans dumbass, therefore don't listen to ska, because ska = anti-racism.

  • @keymaster2 im not racist as i listen to ska and have multi-ethnic mates, its just american isnt ska!! there basically just rock with brass in them. so piss off

  • @2specials

Can you name some legit Uk ska bands? Well I can, do you even listen to Fandange? Dirty Revolution? Rasta4Eyes? probably not, I know your ska scene more than you do, how sad. Americans play skacore, it's their preferred choice of music. We like our ska fused with punk. That's our opinion. You guys can pay tribute to bands that formed 40 years ago if you want, but we are the new age of ska music, and are more successful, btw.

  • @keymaster2 only in shit america! i play in a REAL ska band so i know my fucking ska! punk is fine on its own; the clash, ect. and punk ska is good aslong as it still has the off beat of the rhythm guitar and keyboard but when it doesnt (american ska bands) its just punk so should not be classed as ska.

  • @2specials

once again, you're calling America a shit country. do you have any practical idea that third wave ska actually started in this country? Skankin Pickle, Mustard Plug, Sublime, would you not call those ska bands? The King Blues are classified as ska in your country, but they're are more like reggae folk if you ask me. The Clash sold their asses off, bands here play skacore, not ska-punk. Hardcore mixed with ska. If you don't like it, don't listen to it. Skacore is in the UK too.

  • @keymaster2 not america, as i have many american mates but american ska! i agree early ska is just like reggea thats why bands like the specials are fucking gods becuase they mixed punk and ska but "skacore" is shit and should be called punk with brass!

  • @2specials

Bands from the UK playing skacore: $up, The Propagumbhis, Mista Mushroom, Blame It On Edd, Man Down! Weapons of Brass Destruction. Skacore is not an American genre, it's an international genre. And it's actually growing faster in UK and Canada.

  • WTF!!! how the fuck did u not put the skatalites!? they fucking made ska! how could u not put the specials or madness who taught u dum ass american about fucking ska! majorty of the bands just there wasnt fucking ska!!! listen to price buster, rico, the specials, madness, then ur know what ska is!

  • i love how you put Big D, Operation Ivy, Choking Victim, the Toasters, Less than Jake and Against All Authority :)

    great vid.

  • How can you have BtMI! on there, and no Arrogant Sons of Bitches? Also, good job liking stuck lucky. you should listen to Fatter than Albert

  • @DurCall

BTMI is way better than ASOB can ever be

I have 2 Fatter Than Albert albums. Really good stuff

  • Nice Video :):)

Bands i would recommend if you haven't already heard of them

    Random Hand

    &

    The planet Smashers

    &

    The King Blues :)

    Deffo 5 stars :)

  • If I could remake this video, Random Hand would be there. The Planet Smashers are great, and I wouldn't consider The King Blues to be ska.

  • All three fair comments

a few of my mates say king blues are a few say aren't

i can see where you're coming from

they're probably more punky than ska tbqh

but nevertheless a great video :)

  • The King Blues is a great band who can fuse folk flavored acoustic to traditional reggae as well as have orchestral elements, all blended with a diy punk rock attitude. I would call them a reggae band as well as I would for bands like The Expendables and Sublime.

  • That's completely changed my view on them (Y)

still a great band though :)

    i love sublime

    they're definatley reggae

ive taken a lot of the names from these bands and am currently looking for CD's :)

  • i really feel Buck-O-Nine should have been in there. lol.

  • Buck-O-Nine is pretty good. Nothing that special. Sustain is a pretty good comeback album and was probably one of the first albums that got me hooked on ska music. Twenty-Eight Teeth is a great summer ska album, but overall, they're probably on my top 200, but not on my top 30

  • If you say so, I'd put them strictly due to the underrated status they have. I was pretty happy you didn't have RBF. Terribly overrated.

  • Buck-O-Nine underrated? Hell no, they're a pretty huge ska band in comparison to true underrated ska bands that cannot even play shows outside of their country.

  • There are bands of every genre that can't play out of their country. If you poll 10 people who know music on the average scale 8 would know Operation Ivy. Of those 8, MAYBE as much as 3 would know Buck-O-Nine. They are without a doubt less known. BTW I love music debates so don't get all offended. I loved your stance on ABACABB.

  • 1.If you poll 10 people who know Ska music, you'd get 10 people who know Op Ivy. If you poll them again with Buck-O-Nine, you'd probably get 8. You poll them with a local band on this list like One Cool Guy, only 1 will know them.

Thanks, I look forward to more bad music rants and good music praises.

  • Well no shit lol you're going to extremes from out of country bands to local bands. Impossible to argue because it's common sense.

  • Glad to see Assorted Jelly Beans, One Cool Guy, Slapstick, Link 80, Skankin' Pickle, Stupid Stupid Henchmen, and the Chinkees on here. They usually aren't on peoples "Top Ska Bands" lists. And you're right about everyone always raving about Reel Big Fish and The Bosstones. Reel Big Fish are really talented musically, but I just hate them for some reason. Slapstick is my favorite band ever though.

  • Slapstick was the band that got me into ska.

  • I was into ska for 2 years or so before I discovered Slapstick. I don't even remember how I came across them, but ever since the first time I heard "Almost Punk Enough", I haven't been able to stop listening to them. Their CD is probably the only one that I've ever kept in rotation for over two years. I get bored of bands fast.

  • When I bought their CD I thought they were the epitome of all ska music, lol. Slapstick is a great band, and it's awesome to see the band members progress into even more talented bands. The things I would give to see Slapstick play live back in their prime time...

  • Oh I know! I would kill to see a Slapstick show. I had their DVD, but I let my friend borrow it and his asshole dad threw it away. He said he's going to buy me a new one, but I don't think he is.

  • oye y street light manifesto? but any way you have very good taste he he, LONG LIVE TO SKA SKA SKA!!!!

  • Oye amigo.

    Gracias. VIVA SKA!!!!!!

  • b.lee band?

  • The Chinkees are technically a better Bruce Lee Band.

  • The bruce lee band is pretty much less than jake and mike park, so i don't know if i could decide who was a better band

  • Also members from Rx Bandits. The Chinkees have more material and in my opinion it's a bit better. Very very good stuff, while B.Lee band's EP is much better than their album.

  • Op Ivy :D

  • eeii no manches

    eskuchen a 8 kalacas

    rifan un putero!

SkA! SkA! kontra el razizmo SkA!!

  • Me encanta 8 kalacas.

  • SEKTA!!!!

  • the chinkees is the no 1 men

  • Nice pick man btw

  • sekta core <333333

  • what no the Untouchables???

  • THAT'S SOUL/MOD MUSIC!!!

I prefer the punk band The Untouchables more to the other one.

  • i can see where your coming from. But how about Madness especially One Step Beyond.

  • Madness is a pop band now.

  • back in the days they were not. I think most bands will end up being Pop band or just fade out.

  • No, only corporate ska bands with a mainstream sound would do such a thing.

  • Chinkeees!....they rule!

  • yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • well, fuck ya.

  • interesting list..

  • Okay I'm not huge on ska but seriously how:

    The toasters being 18th??

Evil Empire is great but they don't really have much at all and don't deserve to be 15th.

And yah the stupid stupid henchmen are alright but don't deserve to be in front of bands like, Against All Authority, Op. Ivy, and the Toasters.

LOL WHERE WAS THE ULTIMATE SKA BAND OF ALL TIME? VOODOO GLOW SKULLS!?!?!?

Sorry but this is total bullshit.

  • Yes, I agree Voodoo Glow Skulls are by far one of the most overrated ska bands. Your a beginner to ska so fuck off and don't tell me how to make my own opinion. Why don't you make a video and tell me what my list should be since your not in favor of free speech.

  • You're a fucking idiot, you it 'break it down' as op ivys song? I said i'm not huge on ska but i can tell you don't know much at all, and Capdown should be in the top 10, where's Farse?

  • Yes I did choose Break It Down as an Operation Ivy song. It's one of my favorites and I wish it was recorded. As I said before motherfucker, go upload your own fucking video if you don't like my choices. You think these 30 bands are the only ska bands I know. Capdown is fucking awesome, that's why they are so high in my choices. Your a pee brain when it comes to ska, and probably can't name up to 200 bands playing the genre.

  • white boy ska!!!! hahahahah lame
