A prosthetic is hardly anything that can be compared to a transplant. It looks great, but what doctors are trying to do with transplantation is try their best to restore a functioning face. That includes being able to, i dunno, move one's nose or blink one's eyes.

I'm sure it's been said a thousand times on here, but you're comparing apples with oranges. This is NOT a face transplant, it's a prosthetic. That's to say it's a more complex equivalent of a glass eye, or even a set of dentures, not the transplant of the tissue from one individual's face to another's - a medical technique very much in its infancy and a thousand times more complicated, both in terms of medical ethics and plain old practicability. Good grief - embarrassingly naive reporting.

The insurance company didn't want to pay for it because they say it's cosmetic. And.... it IS cosmetic. Are they supposed to pay for any thing you want? They have a contract. She chose the coverage she wanted and paid for that specific coverage. A tragic accident doesn't mean that contract should be thrown out. Liberals are so naive and greedy.

If she did it to herself, she should pay her own bills or even her family, friends, church, or other charitable institution. Why not ask her local convenience store to pay for it? They are as responsible for her cosmetic surgery as her health insurance company, which is, not at all.

I don’t think that just because you feel sympathy you can go in and force other people to pay. If you have insurance, do you want to pay a lot more so other people can get any procedure they? If there are no limits in place, that is exactly what you would have to do.

Other provinces are moving towards privatization because they are greedy and can't make it work. Funny how my province has it work fine. I choose my own doctor (NOT who my insurance company says I can go to), I can go to any hospital I want at any time and not have to worry if this hospital takes my insurance. My insurance is good everywhere.

As I said, both systems have their faults but I see mine as better than yours (for what I see as important, selfish people can deal with a system like yours). @BriansVideoHobby some things govt does better than private corps, like healthcare, schools, military, transportation system, etc. Single payer healthcare can still leave the providers privatized it is just the payer is the govt. It is half the cost and then w/savings, use that for dental, optometry, long term care, and to squash any rationing or long waits if any pop up.

What you neglect to point out is that our system provides most of the best advances in medicine that the socialist systems rely on because they don't have the profit motivation to advance medicine.
