If you need to 450cc 4 stroke to get the same Hp as a 250 2 stroke, Cc is increased, but the power delivery is different and better than 4 stroke that of a 2 stroke.

lots of trash talking about a 500 two stroke. They dont make em anymore because ALL but a small handful of Pro riders could actually ride these bikes competitvely. The few that could really ride a 500 two stroke would dominate any and all comers. It was not plausible to make such a powerfully nasty machine couple that with trying to stuff it into a 250 chassis designed for 40hp, bad handling bike. Had to make major changes to make it good, take the AF chassis mods, buy one and see

And to all the internet fast guys talking crap, I bet they would smoke most of you. Guys who talk fast usually are slow as shit. These guys have a nice smooth style and keep good corner speed. Corner speed it everything. There are riders who are deceptively fast, and there are the opposite.

Pinning it on the straits, and then coming to a dead stop with the clutch in and revving your motor may make it sound and look like your hauling ass, but your not.

But the bike was really forgiving: low in rpm: just open the throttle! a bit slow to clear a double: the clutch will help you out. Wanted the holeshot? Try to beat the other cr's! To put it simple: the cr500 has everything that a real man would want a real woman to have. Only a tiny bit less power and brutality maybe...

@joeshmoe12301230 I remember watching Motocross as a kid, there was this big tall Dutch guy, like six foot seven (can't recall his name) , his riding style was "Feet on the pegs and ride around the track like it was sunday & you're on a CB125" and the guy was whupping people all over the planet. Seriously smooth, sitting down with his feet on the pegs around corners basically taking the piss out of everybody (Actually seemed to be riding slower than this vid) . It's so true: Smooth is fast!

@GTAking01 in 2000, I bought a brand new KX500, it was only about 20 lbs heavier then the KX250 back at the time. It was about 220 lbs and a 250 was a shade over 200. You have to be very smooth on the trottle with big bore 2 strokes.

@fishanhunter you havnt seen much have you... look up cr500af. even the old steel frame cr500s are kicking the 4 smokes butt. ridablility is a whole different kettle of fish. the 450s are good armchair bikes. try taming a 2st 500. good luck. my 500af was keeping up with my mates brand new yamaha 450 and I had another gear...lol
