  • I went from being a student and living off of about 10k/year to working and making 70k a year. Thanks to Dave, I'll have my 70k student loan paid off in about 3 years. Oh, and my husband and I will only have our house payment left after that and our cars will be paid off well before then. Without this financial guidance, I would have a lovely new car and the government would be enjoying my additional few thousand dollars in interest from my loans! Thanks Dave!

  • This is actually from John Maxwell's 360 degree leader conference, not Catalyst in 2007. Both held in Atlanta, and John is/was involved with Catalyst. Not really sure why it is mislabeled

  • Where should I invest my money?

  • @BJ219 physical gold and silver bullion. The whole economy is imploding and hopeless. Youre only safe investment is precious metals. period. apmex website. order silver and gold physical bullion.

ramsey never talks about the economy collapsing, even though signals are everywhere that it will. listen to peter schiff, he knows whats going on. dave ramsey is a tool

  • Dave Ramsey is no different than the others at the catalyst conference. They are just there to sell things and get rich while making you feel guilty by not giving them enough. It is one thing for Ramsey to do this but for people that call themselves evangelical Christisn 'pastors' is just shameful. You can get out of debt by stop wasting money on these conferences.

  • Have you people not figured out the 'Dave Ramsy' scheme? It is not so much as freeing you from financial debt but more to do with making him more of a multi-millionare.

  • @berean1129

So I take it that you are a debt-free millionaire?

  • Dave Ramsey is a phony. He is arrogant and wrong on many things. Everyone..please get smart!!

  • @Mr1954jvm examples?

  • Dave Ramsey ATL! 640 AM @ 3PM almost everyday!

  • the best Ramsey clip is the one in which he explains how to have "gazelle intensity" by showing the gazelle escape the cheetah... any links to that one?

  • its on Daves website, act like you are going to register for FPU and it is the 'free' lesson... RUN, RUN, RUN

  • Search "ultimate Dave Ramsey" for a plasectomy video you'll never forget!

  • Nomyaw I think Nico is right, it's about getting excited by quickly pay off small amounts. But Nico where your wrong is he was disiplined he wouldn't have debt in the first place, so do it faces way , I works!

  • My husband and I took this guys course, FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY" It is an amazing course that will free you from the enslavement of debt. At first it may seem a little difficult, but once you get rolling, there will be no stopping you!! My husband and I are now debt-free at 47 years old and it is LIBERATING!!!

  • Congratulations!

Ill get there once I get some income again!!! XD

  • Are you a pastor who wants a free book on money management? Google: Yes I Can Set My House in Order by Keith Carter.

  • you have drank the koolaid, sorry to let you in on that... "good debt" cost you way to much money in interest...

  • Debt is debt. It doesn't matter if it's good or bad. That "good" debt as you call it is usually the really high interest debt

  • Actually, i have never ever herd

Dave say that you have take on some debt to gain welth, you should check your statement, because i have never herd that out of his mouth.

  • Debt may have a very low interest rate, but it's money that's not making you interest.

  • No such thing as good debt. Debt is debt which means you owe someone money and thats never good.

  • Before your income comes home, it already has the IRS stealing from it. High taxes are driving us into debt and keeping us there.

  • Comment removed

  • Pay attention to this Denise.

  • dave ramsey would be a good presedent

  • i agree he has a great plan

  • I think I will name the dog "Ebay"

  • haha thats funny!!

  • I have started my 3 - read THREE - year old daughter on his Financial Peace JR. program (20 bucks) - (My parents and my wife's parents had NO CLUE what they were doing with money.)

My daughter loves it. She already knows what goal setting is. Amazing!

She picks up her toys every night to get those smiley faces on the refrigerator. Its great. Dave Rocks!

    Ron Paul/Dave Ramsey in 2012!!!

  • The purpose of insurance is not giving, unless you are an insurance salesman. Insurance is for shifting risk. Life insurance is for replacing ones income when they die. Dave does not have insurance "theories" he explains it's purpose and place in a total financial plan. In his Financial Peace University course 1 of the 13 lessons in on insurance, and one is on giving. Because he does not sale insurance, he does not confuse the two.

  • i just started his class. Im on week 3. I think its great! The envelope system is great. Thanks dave!

  • To my mind, what you should really be doing is paying down the debts with the highest interest rate, regardless of balance. It just makes intuitive sense to pay off the most costly debts first. Once the debt with the highest interest rate is paid off, add those dollars to what you've been paying on the debt with the next highest interest rate, and so on

  • Good point. Financially, you are correct. The math works to your advantage if you do it as you describe.

    .

I think Ramsey's point is that as humans, we like to see progress so that we don't get discouraged with the process and that's why you start with the small amount first. So if you are disciplines and don't need encouragement, then I think it's OK to do it as you suggest.

    .

    just my $0.02

  • yep, Dave says that if you knew math you wouldn't be in such bad shape to start with. Interest rates don't make much diference when you pay something off in month instead of years.

  • Dave explains in his book why this is not the best idea. It has to do with what Nico3641 said, motivation.

It also has to do with the Debt Snow Ball. You need that little one paid off first and quickly, so you can add that much more to paying off the larger ones. It actually gets that higher interest rate paid off faster!

  • Live like no one else, so you can later live like no one else.

  • 13 Months ago I was 23k in debt. Read a book by Ramsey and decided to go for it. 4k left to go! I'll be debt free by the end of this year. There's no secret formula, all he did in his book was motivate. It's common sense, and discipline. Stop spending on stupid things, sell the stupid things you bought, and live off of the minimum so you can then live off of your savings. It's hard to get out of your habits and live a frugal life, but it's certainly more rewarding than paying off a damn loan.

  • Go, toro! Same for me. I'll be out in a couple months. I'm a Dave fanatic,

  • Great guy

  • LIKE HIM..ALWAYS HATED CREDIT CARDS..WISDOM SAYS MULTIPLE STREAMS OF INCOME..PRAYYY FOR THIS FIND GREAT IDEAS..CREATE YOUR WAY OUT..WE PERISH FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE, FOLLOWING FEELINGS, RATHER THAN GOOD REASONING, WE MUST BE CAREFUL, be prepared.

    anna i FLAT-LINED, DIED, & met JESUS!:)!

  • Saw Dave live in Salt Lake- man- he is amazing! I am changed for having seen him, he is unbelievable. Lovin the plan! Thanks Dave!

  • Thanks Dave for all the great advice and kicking our butts when we need it. A heart attack set us back, but we are on our way to being DEBT FREE! Thanks.

    Wendy

  • Dave Ramsey will kick your ass into the stratosphere.

  • rice and beans all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • better than i deserve.

  • Giving is my goal. Being debt-free is a by product of my goal. So many shoot for the lesser of two worthy goals. Yes, shoot for being debt-free. Aim higher and you'll be a giver to causes, charities, organizations, and foundations you believe in. And that, for me, is true financial freedom: helping those around me.

  • I like stuff! Thanks Dave for helping me deal with my "stuffitis".

  • This guy rocks!! And he's a fellow Southerner and has a very typical Southern sense of humor! I do love John Maxwell as well. Brian Tracey and Patrick Lencioni are also fantastic.

Also, read T. Harv Ecker's book, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. Great Stuff! Harv is a straight shooter and pulls no punches. He's the real deal and has made it.

  • He said "Name the dog Ebay", after going through his class we named our cat Ramsey!!

  • this is at John Maxwell's Maximum Impact Conference, not Catalyst.

  • I'm on my way to being debt free. Thanks Dave!!

  • We're Debt Free! Also in the latest edition of his book, as we were stupid to the tune of $123,000 and it's all gone baby!

  • I LOVE Dave's program... I've paid off 26K in 16 months. 12,500 to go..... there's a light at the end of the tunnel... and it's not a train! lol It's great to be able to sleep through the night. Everyone should follow this plan.

  • If you listen to this guy you will do well.

  • I'm debt free thanks to this man. I remember 2 years ago sitting with $23,000 in debt feeling hopeless. Fast forward 2 years and I am debt free with a loaded emergency fund. It wasn't easy, but it really changed my life for the better. Thanks Dave!!!!!

  • Dave Ramsey rules. I listen to him almost everyday. In Seattle it's AM 360 from 3-6pm
