gays are done... keep standing outside waving your signs around like you have nothing to contribute.... you're not getting married in my state, get the fuck out of here faggots, we don't want you
You don't get it, do you? You've already lost. My generation doesn't care, and you will lose.
And I will marry my husband and receive the rights that are of right ought to be given to be, from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Green Mountains to the Chicago River to the Rio Grande and all over that great bulge of land from Atlantic to Pacific.
Amen. One things gays need to know, its not about religion, we simply don't like you fags simply because you are faggots, a disgrace to humanity with your anal sex, spread of HIV/AIDS and the brainwashing of our children.
Keep crying gays, you have no rights in MY country nor do you deserve any. You are not even Americans!
The day the gays get their right is the day the world will be screwed up. The future generation of children will see men holding other mens hands and what are they suppose think about that? I wouldn't even count this discriminatory. Is their something wrong with your mind to even allow the idea of "gay marriage" being right? Look at it, how can you even imagine gay marriage right? There is a reason why there are guys and girls.
When children see men holding hands, they might just not be filled with disgust. I look forward to that day, when people can show their love without fearing what others will think of them.
The fact that you can't see this as discriminatory shows the deeper problem here. You obviously think that homosexuality is an unnatural immoral choice. But you are so wrong. Homosexuality is natural, as moral as heterosexuality, and not a choice.
You know what this entire argument is stupid. I have my belief set and you have yours. What more can hate breed but more hate. I'm sorry and I will stop.
get off your computer and quit being an angsty rude little man here, prop 8 won already soo what are YOU crying about ? oh, no your just being discriminative and rude. thats surprising.
You are a moron (better yet, I think I am being kind there)...studies show heterosexuals are more likely to spread HIV/AIDS than homosexuals. Do some research before making hateful and stupid comments.
LOL you are talking to the wrong person, stupid...I am not gay so that comment should not be directed at me. But I do stand up for gay rights...and look at your last comment (the one before this). You got two negative votes. It is clear others think you are very closed minded and an idiot.
And this is NOT your country...this country belongs to all of us: blacks, women, gays, jews, hispanics, men, children, etc.
You're just a closet gay. Just admit it. Name one thing that gays have done to earn our respect? Spreading HIV/AIDS, teaching kids to have sex at a young age, act like a moron at gay parades, flashing your parts no one wants to see.
Please Mr. White-liberal-guilt moron, tell me what the gay community has done to earn our respect.
You're just a closet gay. >>> LOL nice try, dipshit, but wrong.
Name one thing that gays have done to earn our respect?>>> Umm, perhaps not put up with the hatred and bigotry that idiots, like you, have thrown their way for years.
Spreading HIV/AIDS>>> Which happens more amongst heterosexuals...
teaching kids to have sex at a young age>>> LOL you are in the twilight zone
flashing your parts no one wants to see>>> LOL I have never seen this happen. Are you high right now?
Still did not answer my question, which you are trying to avoid on purpose. What's wrong, I thought you stood up for gay rights. Which they already have, they're not being slaughtered or anything. What have gays shown to earn respect from people like me, and mainstream America?
Get over yourself, Mr. liberal-white-guilt nimrod. I bet you voted for Obama as well.
I answered your question on why they should get respect and I made more points to show I support gay rights. And, no, gays do not have full rights and equality, such as the right to a lifelong commitment, the right to not face discrimination (since they still do to this day), the right to not see people hate on them for no reason. Just because they are not being killed does not negate the fact there is no full equality.
It is sad that, in the 21st century, there is still this much homophobia out there. I read reports that said many who voted yes on Prop 8 did so since they thought it meant yes to gay marriage...since the vote was close, I think a re vote is necessary
Exactly....this crap should have never come down to a vote since it already violated the equal protection clause (which the Supreme Court ruled in May/2008....all this bill did was make Prop 22 into an amendment, not a state law. It's the same thing as Prop 22 but now as an amendment)

We didn't hurt anybody. My church got behind the proposition in order to protect personal liberty, mainly religious freedom. I am a supporter of civil unions, which is slightly contrary to most members of my church (the LDS church).
You did hurt a lot of people. More than all the gays in California. More than all the children of all the gays in California. You hurt this country.
You did not protect anything but your own selfishness. Gay marriage does not attack your religious freedoms.
Your church hurt a lot of people with Prop 8. Some of my Mormon friends almost left the church over that - and you should realize what a huge deal that is.

My church didn't hurt anyone. Prop 8 didn't take away any rights. Gays were getting married based on rights they never had. I don't support a federal ban on same-sex marriage, however I do believe that marriage is between a man and a woman as does 80% of the country. I also favor reciprocal benefits.
My position is not based on selfishness. I am trying to protect the sanctity of marriage and preserve the traditional family. You know full well the implications gay marriage could have.
Your church hurt millions of people - disregarded families as legitimate.
You are not protecting marriage. You think you are protecting marriage by locking it away in a cold dark place. And you only let people who are like you in to see it, touch it, love it. Marriage is now lonlier because of your "protection." Like the father who never lets his little girl outside to play in the garden, your actions cause infinitely more harm than good.
Our fore fathers did not fight for a country of gay people. I bet they are crying in their graves that such stupid conflicts are arising in United States. You gay people can fight all you want for your rights. you will never get it. Know one wants you. The people have spoken.
Interesting that you bring up our fore fathers. There is a good deal of evidence that Abraham Lincoln was gay. And "America the Beautiful"? Written by a lesbian.
This country stands for individual rights, regardless of who you are. Gay rights are here for a good part, and on the horizon for the rest. It is only a matter of time.
Your old days of hatred are short. Enjoy them while you can.
Oh - and I happen to be a girl who likes men. Not gay. Just part of a vast social movement.
to you it may be insignificant but isn't your country about equal rights and freedom? regardles on how importanat you think this subject is it doesn't justify that this issue isn't important to many. obviously it is or you wouldn't of had a voting on it duh.
I'm against both extremes. Gays deserve respect & to not have insults hurled at them. But marriage has a definition of a man & a woman. If u say that marriage that excludes gays is discriminatory, then the word 'hetero' is discriminatory. Holding to the definition of words is NOT bigotry. Marriage = man + woman. It's simple. We r losing the value of words if we can't describe things as they r. Language itself is at threat. If u r looking for affirmation in ur life, this isn't the way to go.
I can see what your saying but now in time marriage has no real definition anymore because of all the changes that the people have made. Marriage to me is when you want to spend the rest of your life together with someone you love and they shouldn't take it away.
Definitions are definitions; however it is the implications of those definitions that are harmful. Marriage has another definition. You can say on the Martha Stwart Show "the marriage of Belgium Chocolate Ice Cream with Irish Cream is a marriage of delectable taste." Different definition but it does not take away the other more common definition. Same sex marriage is differentiated by by the genders involved; however it does not take away from the more common traditional definition.

Most of the states dont even allow this gay marriage. I love how now california is acting like it is its rights to have gay marriage. WELL GUESS WHAT, It passed faggots. Gay marriage does nothing for the country, just imagine if everyone in america was gay... it would be a short future of America and apdoted africans would be running the street.
I'm tired of people saying Prop. 8 is right just because the majority of voters voted yes. A long time ago, the majority of some states would've voted for slavery, or not so long ago, to keep schools for different races seperate. Just because the majority says so doesn't mean it's right. I think people will look back on this in 40 years and be glad Prop. 8 was overturned, which it will be in 10 years or less.
It's America. If it were defeated, we wouldn't be rioting in front of liberal-populated areas and acting like asses or demanding recounts. Liberals are children in adult bodies with the reason to match.
Arnold is more a Pontius Pilate than a governor. I can't be Republican or Democrat anymore, but the Republicans respond to adults more often in what does not get in the way of the CFR's plans.
How about if we vote next time to have the gay's who can't deal with democracy move to Sweden. The only reason it's an issue now is because of activist judges. (THE LIVING BREATHING CONSTITUTION) yA know what I mean?
These are peoples lives we're talking about. Their right for happiness being taken away. That's not staying true to "All men are equal". That's not something that gay couples in love can "fucking deal with". I hope your kids are homosexual, then you see their pain.
you are an ignorant, not to mention the BIGGEST idiot I have ever run into.
The disease AIDS is not just contracted by homosexuals, Men have passed AIDS to women just as easily and swiftly.
However I laugh at you, we've never given prostitution such attention or opposition yet that is an immoral practice of love, but let me guess its justified because at least its between a man and a woman right?
I live in Germany, and here we have numerous gay politicians, in EACH party. There is even a CHRISTIAN democratic mayor in Hamburg, Ole von Beust, who has been re-elected twice. Klaus Wowereit, social democratic mayor of Berlin, who was mentioned in Obama's Berlin speech, will be likely to become the world's first gay head of government ever in 2013. Also, we will maybe have a gay foreign minister and vice chancellor next year: Guido Westerwelle. (However, I despise this person.)

Vaimaru... Read Leviticus, Chapters 18 and 20... all types of sexual immorality are condemned(homosexuality, incest, indecent exposure, adultery, and bestiality). God sets rules for humanity for our, and your, own good.
Isn't that from the old testament the same book that says an eye for an eye (which was later retracted I guess), that condones slavery oh and that you should be put to death for working on the sabbath? oh right that book, here's a thought, maybe its not such a good idea to base modern day legislation on a book from the broze age!
All I can say, Vaimaru... homosexuality is unnatural and abnormal. Just because there are those who want to put it on par with normal intercourse, doesn't make it so.
Read the Bible. Every time homosexuality is mentioned, it is in the negative. God hates it, and makes no bones about it, brother.
Religious hardliners only have little power here in Europe. (except for Italy and Poland.) That's why our societies are much more progressive than yours.
You block me?! That is some hilarious horseshit, lol. You made the first comment towards me, and now that you cant keep up,with my reply you run and hide(figures). Your quote,"I happen to know for a fact that there are lots of people who fit your demographic", hahaha!! And, what demographic would that be? The demographic that actually challenges, your absurdity. Wow, nice try however, you have already been exposed as a very confused individual. You are owned, now have a wonderful day. ;)
. Furthermore, I am sure white segregationists, and the others, you named, did consider Tubman intolerant. My point was how Tubman, and the other you named, view the segregationists, and other like them. Tubman and others, like her had tolerance toward the segregationist (was the point) again, you are confused.
And once you are married, the government does give certain privileges such as visitation rights in the Emergency Room, inheritance rights, and power of attorney when no Will is present, pension benefits and judicial protections and evidentiary immunity etc. However, marriage has also been used to punish people as well such by altering how much in taxes you must pay by lowering deductions. That is why it is a contract, not a right
OMG!! My statement was "YOU can't be that thick." Wow..... You are truly, confused. Marriage has also been co-opted by governments around the world as a legally binding contract. That gives people certain privileges (and in some instances punishments) once they enter into the bonds of matrimony. That why you get the "extras privileges.
7 out of 10 Black voters & 53% of Hispanic voters voted YES. It NEVER ceases to amaze me that people who ALWAYS complain about discrimination are ALWAYS the first to discriminate against others. Don't forget, in the US, people of colour couldn't marry each other, & certainly not Whites, especially. Many people would still vote to make the latter illegal in America, too, no doubt, for many of the same reasons they voted "yes" on November 4th. STUPID knows no colour.
Democracy spoke not once (2000) prop 22 but twice (prop 8). Do not redefine what has and always will be, husband and wife. Stay domestic partnership and civil union. Call it gayrriage, call it what ever you want, just do not call it marriage cause it is not!!!
Obama believes that marriage is between man and woman BUT he also believes that same sex couples that wish to devote themselves to each other(civil union?)should have the same rights given to those that are married.
People force their religion down your throats because "GOD SAID IT IS WRONG" It's a fight for the rights that married couples have, not a fight to be recognized by the church as married. You can have your religion, I just want the rights and securities that married couples enjoy.
The GC are the lairs, stating,"We want equal rights".You have equal rights, now .....The equal right to marry the opposite gender(just like everyone else). You really want special rights!!!!I am not not judging ,just stating the facts. Eqaul means: Having the same privileges, status, or rights. That is what you now have .You want "special" rights inforced under the law, based on your "lifestyle" choice. Preposterous!!!
Just like the Jews and Muslims in Spain had equal rights of freedom of religion with Catholics....they had were all free to be Catholic. You believe that "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" are special rights, don't you? I guess the Jews and Muslims of Spain were demanding special rights based on their own lifestyle choices to be Jews and Muslims. Your arguments make no sense, because you keep painting yourself into corners with circular arguments that get nowhere.
Marriage is not a right. Marriage is a responsibility and a legally-binding contract intended to stabilize families with children. And, your quote,"By your logic, black people in the antebellum South had the equal right to live in slave states, just like everyone else.",First off, everyone else was not a slave.Futhermore,I take it, you meant the "free" blacks that lived in the atebellum South .
If marriage is not a right, then how is it that married people in this country are afforded an elevated status above unmarried people? How is it that married people get preferential treatment over unmarried people when it comes to employment, housing, education, insurance, taxation? And the list goes on and on...
You mention "to stabilize families with children." Has it occurred to you that not all families with children are headed by opposite-sex couples? What about those children?
Before I block you, I want you to know that my impression of you is only of you. You do not represent any group of people. I will not hold your lack of reasoning skills against anybody else, because I happen to know for a fact that there are lots of people who fit your demographic who actually do know something about logic and reason.
Martin Luther, Thomas Jefferson, Harriet Tubman, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King were not "intolerant",as a matter of a fact, they were quite tolerant. So, don't try to imply that any of those great leaders would be behide the "homosexual" cause. If, anything, they would be on the religious rights side, LOL!!!! None demanded "special right",just equal rights,no more,no less.
I would warrant that the Papacy, the King of Great Britain, and white segregationists would consider these people intolerant, and they would regard the rights they demanded as "special rights". Gay people are not demanding special rights. Just equal rights, no more, no less. Just like you said.
And, it is laughable for you to compare you "cause", to slavery and the right of someone NOT to be owned, bought and sold as property. However, numerous laws exist that restrict the ability of certain people to enter into a marriage contract.
Two consenting adults who do not already have a legally recognized relationship should not be denied the rights that married couples take for granted.
Kinda hurts when someone makes it personal for you, doesn't it?
Its apparent that it does hurt ..you.I am happly married. And, convicts do have the RIGHT to vote.Again, marriage is not a right. All of you comparison are absurd ,because they deal with equal rights.Marriage is not a right. You are confused.
By your logic, black people in the antebellum South had the equal right to live in slave states, just like everyone else. Those who demanded the "special" right of freedom were unbearably intolerant and judgmental towards their owners.
Talk about preposterous...
Imagine the world we would live in if it weren't for intolerant bigots like Martin Luther, Thomas Jefferson, Harriet Tubman, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King and anybody else who dared to demand "special rights".
A petition to put a proposition on the ballot in 2009 to repeal the amendment will be circulated just as easily as the one that put Prop 8 on the 2008 ballot. Only half the people of California voted for Prop 8; when they realize that they have been lied to, they'll be much less sympathetic to the Religious Right. A group that has to lie to win elections has no moral authority. None. Especially when they claim to be America's moral guardian.
Wake up!!The majority of Americans don't agree with gay"marriage". The homosexual community would like to force the "lifestyle" down peoples throats. Then call others bigots, if they disagree.Well guess what? That make them a bigots, as well. The definition of a bigot: One who is strongly partial to one's own GROUP, religion, race, or POLITICS and is intolerant of those who differ. Seems like you are just as intolerant and judgmental, towards the religious right, as they are of you.
Kinda like the Jews were intolerant of Nazis, eh? How dare those Jews stand up for themselves! How DARE that intolerant thug Martin Luther stand up for himself against the Catholic Church! How DARE those intolerant Republicans stand up for themselves against the King of Great Britain! How DARE those intolerant protestors stand up for themselves against totalitarian regimes in Eastern Europe and against apartheid in South Africa!
It is absurd how the homosexual community trys to use other, true oppression as a stepping for them.Your ,qoute"Just like the Jews and Muslims in Spain had equal rights of freedom of religion with Catholics....they had were all free to be Catholic." You can't be that thick.
Are you calling yourself stupid? I'm agreeing with what you said, that your argument is thick. Insult me all you want, but it's kinda strange that you would insult yourself by continuing to point out just how completely without logic your arguments are.
Yes, and they have said "We believe the lies that the Religious Right tells us."
Actually, it's only about half the people who have spoken....and it speaks volumes that the fundamentalists had to resort to taking God's name in vain and bearing false witness against their neighbors to get the amendment passed. They may have won this battle, but they have lost their souls, and the war is FAR from over.
First, marriage is only allowed between adults, not minors. Second, marriage is only allowed between two individuals. Multiple partner marriages (polygamy and polyandry) are not legal. Third, marriage is not allowed between closely related individuals (brothers, sisters, and first cousins). These laws apply to me just like they apply to you,no more,no less.
Like it or not Prop 8 looks like its going to pass...Yes!!! You cant approve Gay Marriage and discriminate against other extreme forms of marriage. Good job Cali!
umm its legal in california already and ive not been taught once about it in school. so say why these people believe it will be taught in school? saying yes to prop 8 is taking a group of people, and taking away one of their rights. its discrimination. its like saying you cant marry because of your race. you cant change your race right? well homosexuals cannot change their orientation, it is the way they were born.
Dude, I can't help but wonder what exactly they mean by 'being taught in schools'.
Are they saying that gay people are TEACHING kids to be gay?
Is it an implication that kids just... shouldn't ever know about homosexuality? (As if anybody over the age of seven doesn't fucking know about it...)
and not teaching in schools will lead for kids to hate a certain group of people who haven't done anything wrong. We teach our kids to be tolerant don't we?
I know, I think that's ridiculous. You can't teach someone to be gay. If you could teach someone their sexual orientation...wouldn't homosexuals have learned from their heterosexual parents/teachers/society to be straight? And if they don't think they're going to teach them to be gay...what are they afraid they'll teach them? Tolerance? Acceptance? Respect for your fellow American? Is any of that bad?
Look, you idiots (The raving, malignantly stupid Christians in here) did not 'invent' marriage or romantic partnerships any more than Newton 'invented' gravity.
Like him, you simply got smacked in the face with a concept and worked out your own understanding of it.
Plenty of people enjoyed 'marriage' long before you morons showed up with your conniption fits about how Jesus immolates a thousand orphan children into charred crisps in hell every time two gay people so much as kiss each other.
How does NOT changing the constitution alter Christian marriage? Are Jews allowed to get married? Are athiests? Are Hindus? Muslims? Are these the next ballots we have to deal with?
Arnold Schwarzenegger: VOTE NO on PROP 8 Maria Shriver: VOTE NO on PROP 8 John Garamendi: VOTE NO on PROP 8 Dianne Fienstein: VOTE NO on PROP 8 Barbara Boxer: VOTE NO on PROP 8 Barack Obama: VOTE NO on PROP 8 Joe Biden: VOTE NO on PROP 8 Jerry Sanders: VOTE NO on PROP 8 Bill Clinton: VOTE NO on PROP 8 Hillary Clinton: VOTE NO on PROP 8 All agree.
You know, they say homophobia is a persons desire to cover up their own latent homosexual ideas and feelings...put that in your pipe and smoke it you Christian, conservative, narrow-minded jerk-offs.
Vote hate in '08! Yes on 8, just because conservative versions of Chrisianity were wrong about slavery and interracial couples doesn't mean we're wrong now! Vote hate, it's the MORAL choice.
If by unproductive you mean children...yeah, I guess they just adopt children that wouldn't have any parents. They don't help overpopulate the world like the rest of us. Darn them all to heck! I don't know why the anti-abortion crowd doesn't love them, lol.
Vote NO on 8 its a form of discrimination and a form of ignorance. I am straight happily married and have a 15 month old daughter. I am not afraid of my daughter turning gay because of same sex marriage laws, its the same as when blacks and whites couldn't get married but once people finally accepting it, that did not mean every couple would become interracial it just made it easy for the interracial couples that fell in love to have equal rights.
congradulations mormons and conservatives, your most outspoken spokesperson for prop 8 is a mentally retarded 15 year old who thinks gay people are gross. actually aside from the age i think this is every supporter of prop 8
also marriage isn't a christian thing you morons, do you think hindus and buddhists don't get married? are you so ignorant to think that athiests don't get married?
what a crock of shit, vote no on 8 or you're a reprehensible human being
woah i just said i hate niggers, why all the hate? liberals can say i'm a hateful racist for calling someone a nigger but the second i say "black people are all crooks" i'm the bad guy suddenly?
you're a piece of shit deathtoemo89, kill yourself
Those posting comments that traditional marraige supports "hate" others are misguided at best and simply trying to manipulate people at worst. Marraige is between a man and a woman. There is nothing hateful about that...we all started from a man and a woman...hopefully we all were raised by a mother and father. Traditional marraige is the beautiful beginning of a family unit. Nothing hateful about that. Other partnerships that don't meet the definition of marraige aren't marraige. VOTE YES.
What makes marriage strictly between a man and a woman? I'm assuming you mean procreation since you say "we all started from a man and a woman." What about heterosexual couples that choose to not have children? Or those that are sterile or barren? Or the elderly that get married past child-bearing age? Are these "other partnerships" less of a marriage too? Should we take away their title of marriage because children are not possible?
Dude read up on your history in about 1718 i dont know when we signed the decleration we decided to not have a government NOT ruled by religion. Also what happened to the persuit of hapiness? and last but not least man should be treated once born or sum shit i cant remember but its something with those roots
Honestly, I don't think that gays should be married. Marriage is a Christian thing, not legal. So if you were to vote No on Prop 8, you would be saying it was okay to have the government interfere with religion. That's wrong, because this country was founded on the belief that the government should have no influence on your religion and beliefs. It's called religious freedom, and no on prop 8 opposes it. Although, I do think gays should have a right to legally bond, but not marry.
This isn't about rights or equality. It's about the definition of marriage. Which is why the No on 8 ads don;t want you to think about marriage. A polygamist could use their same arguments. "Hey, we polygamists have rights to and regardless of what you think of marriage you can't discriminate against us and deny us the right to change the definition of marriage like the gays want!" Yes on 8. Everyone does not have the "equal right" to change the definition of marriage to suit them.
if i knew you in person i would hit you so hard you would run to your parents with your nose shoved up your brain. you are a hateful person and dont u ever use that word again and i hope you die a slow and painful death.
i love how fucking tolerant these "tolerant" people are of others who hold opinions not their own. we hateful conservatives should learn to tolerate gays and their rights, but if we express our own opinions to others we'll be running home with our nose in our brain.

Spreading HIV/AIDS>>> Which happens more amongst heterosexuals...
teaching kids to have sex at a young age>>> LOL you are in the twilight zone
flashing your parts no one wants to see>>> LOL I have never seen this happen. Are you high right now?
cajayson8301 2 years ago
Still did not answer my question, which you are trying to avoid on purpose. What's wrong, I thought you stood up for gay rights. Which they already have, they're not being slaughtered or anything. What have gays shown to earn respect from people like me, and mainstream America?
Get over yourself, Mr. liberal-white-guilt nimrod. I bet you voted for Obama as well.
MidNiteR32 2 years ago
I answered your question on why they should get respect and I made more points to show I support gay rights. And, no, gays do not have full rights and equality, such as the right to a lifelong commitment, the right to not face discrimination (since they still do to this day), the right to not see people hate on them for no reason. Just because they are not being killed does not negate the fact there is no full equality.
Yes, I voted for Obama and I am proud of my vote.
cajayson8301 2 years ago
I agree with you but sadly many homosexuals are being "slaughtered" at the hands of horrid people for simply being who they are!
dreamreality07 2 years ago
It is sad that, in the 21st century, there is still this much homophobia out there. I read reports that said many who voted yes on Prop 8 did so since they thought it meant yes to gay marriage...since the vote was close, I think a re vote is necessary
cajayson8301 2 years ago
I also think a re vote is necessary, but to be honest, I think it's all ridiculous - voting on human rights!
dreamreality07 2 years ago
Exactly....this crap should have never come down to a vote since it already violated the equal protection clause (which the Supreme Court ruled in May/2008....all this bill did was make Prop 22 into an amendment, not a state law. It's the same thing as Prop 22 but now as an amendment)
cajayson8301 2 years ago
What have you done to earn anyone's respect? You are acting like a bigot and you've not shown any reasons why homosexual relationships are "wrong".

We didn't hurt anybody. My church got behind the proposition in order to protect personal liberty, mainly religious freedom. I am a supporter of civil unions, which is slightly contrary to most members of my church (the LDS church).
JohnRhysMusician 2 years ago
You did hurt a lot of people. More than all the gays in California. More than all the children of all the gays in California. You hurt this country.
You did not protect anything but your own selfishness. Gay marriage does not attack your religious freedoms.
Your church hurt a lot of people with Prop 8. Some of my Mormon friends almost left the church over that - and you should realize what a huge deal that is.
SwingGirlBlues 2 years ago 5
This comment has received too many negative votes show
My church didn't hurt anyone.
JohnRhysMusician 2 years ago
Your church hurt millions of people - disregarded families as legitimate.
You are not protecting marriage. You think you are protecting marriage by locking it away in a cold dark place. And you only let people who are like you in to see it, touch it, love it. Marriage is now lonlier because of your "protection." Like the father who never lets his little girl outside to play in the garden, your actions cause infinitely more harm than good.
The implications of gay marriage are only good.
SwingGirlBlues 2 years ago 6
Our fore fathers did not fight for a country of gay people. I bet they are crying in their graves that such stupid conflicts are arising in United States. You gay people can fight all you want for your rights. you will never get it. Know one wants you. The people have spoken.
Chicken10843 2 years ago
Interesting that you bring up our fore fathers. There is a good deal of evidence that Abraham Lincoln was gay. And "America the Beautiful"? Written by a lesbian.
This country stands for individual rights, regardless of who you are. Gay rights are here for a good part, and on the horizon for the rest. It is only a matter of time.
Your old days of hatred are short. Enjoy them while you can.
Oh - and I happen to be a girl who likes men. Not gay. Just part of a vast social movement.
SwingGirlBlues 2 years ago
to you it may be insignificant but isn't your country about equal rights and freedom? regardles on how importanat you think this subject is it doesn't justify that this issue isn't important to many. obviously it is or you wouldn't of had a voting on it duh.
kyosinmyheart 2 years ago
I'm against both extremes. Gays deserve respect & to not have insults hurled at them. But marriage has a definition of a man & a woman. If u say that marriage that excludes gays is discriminatory, then the word 'hetero' is discriminatory. Holding to the definition of words is NOT bigotry. Marriage = man + woman. It's simple. We r losing the value of words if we can't describe things as they r. Language itself is at threat. If u r looking for affirmation in ur life, this isn't the way to go.
pauldallimore 3 years ago
I can see what your saying but now in time marriage has no real definition anymore because of all the changes that the people have made. Marriage to me is when you want to spend the rest of your life together with someone you love and they shouldn't take it away.
deidaracookie12 3 years ago
Why don't we just change the name of the LEGAL standing to domestic partnership for heterosexual and homosexual couples?
b12nd0n 2 years ago
Definitions are definitions; however it is the implications of those definitions that are harmful. Marriage has another definition. You can say on the Martha Stwart Show "the marriage of Belgium Chocolate Ice Cream with Irish Cream is a marriage of delectable taste." Different definition but it does not take away the other more common definition. Same sex marriage is differentiated by by the genders involved; however it does not take away from the more common traditional definition.

You believe that "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" are special rights, don't you? Your arguments make no sense, because you keep painting yourself into corners with circular arguments that get nowhere.

Marriage is not a right. Marriage is a responsibility and a legally-binding contract intended to stabilize families with children. And, your quote,"By your logic, black people in the antebellum South had the equal right to live in slave states, just like everyone else.",First off, everyone else was not a slave.Futhermore,I take it, you meant the "free" blacks that lived in the atebellum South .
obdiane 3 years ago
If marriage is not a right, then how is it that married people in this country are afforded an elevated status above unmarried people? How is it that married people get preferential treatment over unmarried people when it comes to employment, housing, education, insurance, taxation? And the list goes on and on...
You mention "to stabilize families with children." Has it occurred to you that not all families with children are headed by opposite-sex couples? What about those children?

A petition to put a proposition on the ballot in 2009 to repeal the amendment will be circulated just as easily as the one that put Prop 8 on the 2008 ballot. Only half the people of California voted for Prop 8; when they realize that they have been lied to, they'll be much less sympathetic to the Religious Right. A group that has to lie to win elections has no moral authority. None. Especially when they claim to be America's moral guardian.

So - why do you support it? I'm not being facetious, I'm curious, since... well, you know, you don't seem insane/sadistic/incredibly prejudiced.

What about intersex people? God didn't create just "man" and "woman". He created all sorts of people who were a mix of both.
I'm not speaking about transsexuals either.. I'm talking about people with intersex conditions commonly known by the offensive term "hermaphrodite".
I blur the line as a trans woman who is XXY (klinefelters). Who should I be able to marry?
Nobody chooses who they're attracted to. We're attracted to people in the same way you are..
Prop 8 makes me a 2nd class citizen.

Vote NO on 8 its a form of discrimination and a form of ignorance. I am straight happily married and have a 15 month old daughter. I am not afraid of my daughter turning gay because of same sex marriage laws, its the same as when blacks and whites couldn't get married but once people finally accepting it, that did not mean every couple would become interracial it just made it easy for the interracial couples that fell in love to have equal rights.
but I do not expect everyone to be as loving

congradulations mormons and conservatives, your most outspoken spokesperson for prop 8 is a mentally retarded 15 year old who thinks gay people are gross. actually aside from the age i think this is every supporter of prop 8

Hey man can you can divise a real argument or can you only call people names?
FatherTime89 3 years ago

KronicDemon442 3 years ago
Honestly, I don't think that gays should be married. Marriage is a Christian thing, not legal. So if you were to vote No on Prop 8, you would be saying it was okay to have the government interfere with religion. That's wrong, because this country was founded on the belief that the government should have no influence on your religion and beliefs. It's called religious freedom, and no on prop 8 opposes it. Although, I do think gays should have a right to legally bond, but not marry.
TheRealGreenshell1 3 years ago
Why does the government marry people at all if marriage is Christian? We are not a theocracy!
anseljh 3 years ago 4
This isn't about rights or equality. It's about the definition of marriage. Which is why the No on 8 ads don;t want you to think about marriage. A polygamist could use their same arguments. "Hey, we polygamists have rights to and regardless of what you think of marriage you can't discriminate against us and deny us the right to change the definition of marriage like the gays want!" Yes on 8. Everyone does not have the "equal right" to change the definition of marriage to suit them.

Orli1Keira 3 years ago
i love how fucking tolerant these "tolerant" people are of others who hold opinions not their own. we hateful conservatives should learn to tolerate gays and their rights, but if we express our own opinions to others we'll be running home with our nose in our brain.
lovely.
deathtoemo89 3 years ago
if gay couples already have all the legal rights of a married couple, why pick a fight with religion by making a fight for simply the word?
there is much to think about. think seriously before voting, please.
