Yeeahhhh.... nice music, good hat... but incomplete thinking. If someone watches the video, are they presumed to be the "average" hand-washer, with that ridiculous figure? How about using that moment to say "don't leave the water running because, if you do, the machines will replace you!!"
Yep, dishwashers are the efficiency king. But have you ever tried making love efficiently? If you love Mother Earth, you'd have absolutely zero interest in showing it 'efficiently'. Unreasonable corporations misuse 'efficiency' to confuse, control and enslave truly loving souls into their profiteering schemes.
Mother Nature only understands, knows, and encourages EFFECTIVE love making. Consuming the Earth to spit out "labor saving" machines is hardly an effective way to clean a dish!!!

You would only use five gallons per minute handwashing if you left the water on all the time. I have never met anyone who used that much water before in my life. Mostly we wash them with very little water and then rinse them in a tub of water, which would be way less than 15 gallons of water, don't you think? Plus what about the electricity? The only electricity I use when washing dishes is the water heater for my possible 2 gallons of water and the light bulb in the evening.
@DavesMx6: Yup, elbow grease vs electricity. Forgot that one in my list.
Man I get angry when I see this video.
I could 'understand' seeing that shit on Fox Tele but not on Current - Eco channel.
Basically, tell the world: Its ok to consume and be lazy as long as you do it in an ecofriendly way.
@umbrah: please do your homework and repost a video taking all this other parameters from comments below in account. (please include the BUYING OF A PLUG for the sink!)
Fill one sink with soapy water and one sink with rinse water. 4 gallons tops! And, hand washing uses no electricity. Plus, nothing is used in the manufacture of a dishwasher because there is none. This stupid ignoramus has no idea how to wash dishes. Who the heck were her parents that she doesn't know how to do such a simple task? Unbelievable!
have you seen the viral video film school about online tutorials, he has a clip from a woman trying to show people how to wash spoons... it's rediculously stupid. And also, this woman is crazy. who poors out all of their water constantly
No. The answer is wash by hand, using less water. 2-3 gallons in total is sufficient. Also, manufacturing a dishwasher has a huge environmental impact!!
I'd wager the energy savings would make up for the energy cost of building the dishwasher, especially since a good, quality dishwasher can last for decades.
Five gallons per minute? Are you guys insane? Here in Europe we don't leave the water running while we do the dishes. So thats max 3 gallons of water to fill up the sink.
Also, how ecofriendly is the production and disposal of your washer? And how much soap do you put in the dishwasher compared to handwash? Which one is more toxic do you think?
I think Umbra never did any dishes in her life.
ANSWER: Just learn to do the dishes by hand the proper way if you want to be ecofriendly.
I totally agree, this bitch doesn't know how to wash dishes for the life of her. She also doesn't factor in the electricity that is being used when you use a dishwasher. Hand washing doesn't require anything but some elbow grease. Some people are just lazy or ignorant these days.

I believe this is an urban legend. One uses less water and energy by hand washing dishes ptrovided you don`t let the water run the entire time.

I guess they are not using a stopper. Just let the water run the whole time? o.0
stingstungme 2 years ago 2
If you use a stopper and a squirt or two of dish washing liquid...you save water and dish liquid.

5 gallons per minute? whaaaaa? who? People who don't own plugs? People who don't know how to turn taps off?
buddyholly28 2 years ago 5
What if you got your own well and water isn't a factor? It's better to handwash.

And making a dishwasher takes how many gallons of water?
Oh, oh, I know - nobody cares, because we are all too brainwashed to look into the details.

drmkkk, compared to how much water it saves a year? negligable.
archivesbc 2 years ago
ok, the details: sooner or later it would surpass that amount.

@douglasdeleu : Excellent comment. I thought the same thing. I think Umbra is sponsored by a dishwasher manufacturer.
