when he's playing the solo and he's sliding something up and down the frets, what's he using? also, what's that technique called? ive been trying to figure out what it is and how its played for months, but come up empty handed haha
@jorgetheleader It's just a chrome slide, but you can use a smooth coin. I am not sure what the technique is called, but you need a pretty high gain pedal or you won't get much sound out of it.
It's two DD-6's in sequence, first one on fast delay time, high repeats, into a second one on Med Delay time, low repeats. I just hold the pedal down on warp mode. Hope that helps.
There is a synth bass programmed along with the drum track, you prob just can't hear it as the mic on the camera we used can't really pick up those frequencies.
@MELADORABAND Ah, I see that now. I posted that comment a while ago, before I knew anything about synthesis or mastering, and I can appreciate this cover even more now. Still a good show.
Wow, I really like this video, probably the best cover (technically and vocal) on Youtube, the second guitarist really did an amazing job trying to recreate all of Jonny's antics.
Very awesome guys. It helps make it work that their is a girl singing cus most guys cant emulate Thom's voice and I also like how the lead guitarist also emulated the effects well which is really impressive/awesome especially with a song like this.
'89 Fender Tele Plus -> Boss SD-1 -> Digitech Whammy -> Boss DD-6 (Fast Delay, High Repeats) -> Boss DD-6 (Med Delay, low repeats) -> Boss RE-20 Space Echo -> Vox AC-30 Amp.
For the verses, just the DD-6 pedals are used. For the solo, the SD-1 and Whammy are added. For the end, the RE-20 is added and fiddled with. Hope that helps. I use a lot more pedals, but not on this song.
@MELADORABAND was the tele of bridge mid or neck pick up? and also i see you've made modifications mind sharing your thought on how they changed your guitar?
I used the humbucker on the bridge, tone all the way up. I have not modified the guitar, it is a Tele Plus (you might already know that). What looks like a pickup in the middle is actually a sticker that a friend of mine stuck on.

What kind of pedal is he using to get that massive delay (or echo) sound used throughout the song?

@jorgetheleader Hi there,
I am using 2 Boss DD-6's in sequence. At the end I am using a Boss RE20 Space Echo. Hope that helps!

What kind if equipment (pedals and whatnot) is the second guitarist (on the right) using?
hitek86 2 years ago
Hi hitek86,
It all goes like this:
'89 Fender Tele Plus -> Boss SD-1 -> Digitech Whammy -> Boss DD-6 (Fast Delay, High Repeats) -> Boss DD-6 (Med Delay, low repeats) -> Boss RE-20 Space Echo -> Vox AC-30 Amp.
For the verses, just the DD-6 pedals are used. For the solo, the SD-1 and Whammy are added. For the end, the RE-20 is added and fiddled with. Hope that helps. I use a lot more pedals, but not on this song.

Quite the setup! I'm really impressed by the ondes-esque sound you got (im guessing you used the whammy+sd1 for that).
Beautiful guitar too.
