  • Fuck CGI, ILM and George Lucas. This is how you make special effects!

  • This is really sweet. Surprised by how much was puppetry/ animatronics, wth a physical aspect rather than a digital one.

Looks much better to have a physical element there, as I can imagine it was far more helpful to the actors to have something to physically work with.

  • See, animatronics DO still have a place, it just depends on a lot of factors...

  • Wow! Who directed and shot this amazing footage?

  • Bad. Ass.

  • AWESOME.

  • I was hoping to see if this showed up on your channel. You did amazing work with Dock Ock.

  • @infrafan damn. Doc Ock

  • I thought they were cgi in the film?

  • @killo90210 They were a mix of practical and cg, depending on what the scene required. Check out this blooper reel that doesn't have any visual effects added to see a few of the things they did practically with the tentacles...

    /watch?v=eO-v6VEOJTs

Doc Ock's scenes start about two and a half minutes in and are spread out through the rest of the video.

  • I wish you had made a motorized pair (set?), but now that I think of it it'd probably weight a ton and cost a fortune in servos!

  • Seriously, I seeing stuff like this. These are practical effects that work well. I'm hoping that one day soon, Hollywood will stop the overuse of CG and go back to using practical effects. Stuff like this works, because its real. No CG model can ever reach the quality of stuff like this.

  • The fuck, those arms were real?

Or is this another Ang Lee Hulk situation where you build this awesome animatronic which never sees the light of day?

  • @MrWarrenLO Nope they used a combo of animatronics and CG.

  • Very cool.

  • I think.

  • Awesome, i saw some of this exact same footage on the spiderman 2 2 disk dvd!

  • If these could be developed for injured people, that's what I'd call handicapable.
