Look, idiots; McCarthy had nothing to do with the House UnAmerican Activities Committee. Joseph McCarthy was a member of the United States Senate (you know, der Bundesrat die Vereinigten Staaten). The HUAC was a committee of the U.S. House of Representatives --our Bundestag. McCarthy never investigated Communists working in Hollywood. In the early '50s he led a Senate committee investigating Communist infiltration of government departments. And he was proven correct by Venona.
