Not really. T-34 to T-62 yes, but T-64 was as revolutionary design as Abrams was. Later it was T-72 (simplified T-64) to T-90 for conscript/export and T-64 to T-80 to Ob640 (cancelled) for "elite" units.

T-80s aren't upgraded anymore because Russia can't afford design and production of country-use-only tank, as foreign customers preffer cheaper and simplier T-72 derritives.

Small turrets are quite advantageous, as it enables the tank to have a lower silhouette and armour that protects better from artillery and other types of weapons designed to hit it from the top. Sweden had projects like that in the late 80's.

Don't under estimate the russians. While the M1 is technologically supperior to pretty much every tank in the world, the high maintenance and fuel consumtion make it unsuitable for anything but proxy wars.

AP rounds dont work the same way anymore so sloped armor isnt as effective as it used to be.

Most of the modern tanks use composite armor panels. For instance on M1 Abrams if updated armor comes out they cut open top front of turret, pull old panels out and drop new panels in and weld top shut.

Most Russia tanks have a void area cast into the front of the tank turrets filled with a quartz material that gives very similar effect to Chobam armor.

@ineverwinter Украинские танки стали - русскими,какая наглость,ну удивляться здесь нечему.Русские умеют присваивать,воровать всё чужое, обворовывать другие народы ,где они не появятся как чума сразу становится"исконно русским ",такой русский менталитет,унаследованный наверное при смешении с татаро-монголами , чурбаньём и другими азиатскими народами проживающими в России .И иностранцам своей пропагандой " - это русское ", засрали мозги . Это вы ерунду несёте .

@TheEudj хахаха.. все больше писать не буду , но просто откуда Вы взяли такую страну как Украина ? вот скажите , ну где в Европейских , Российских , Турецких, Персидских исторических документах она существовала ? Вы же сами прекрасно знаете что и названия такого не было до 19 -20 века .За сим откланиваюсь и больше не комментирую.

@ineverwinter не знаю когда оно там в россии созданно, но харьковский тракторный, танки ещё с тридцатых годов клепает и институт тогдаже принём создан. а у буржуев традиция такая, всё постсоветское называть русским.

@ineverwinter а хотя припоминаю, под питером вроде било танковое производство до войны тоже, КВ и ИСы там собирали, тяжёлые танки в основном.
