A 9.825 for Miller's first vault was a joke, WAY too high. Not the maximum height and distance, a big step on the landing, and a deep pike in the air. Anyone else doing that vault would have scored a 9.600.
Her form was not exceptional. She piked it deeply, plus the big step on the landing. Under the 93-96 COP only a superbly executed vault usually with a stuck landing was worth a 9.825. This was not even close to that.
Ok scratch that. I goofed. She didn't pike in '96, but Shannon was one of the few gymnasts who didn't separate her legs while jumping off the springboard.
fine, thank you for finally understand what I was saying. The piking was incorrect on this vault as I said. You are right she had corrected this by 96 and done so with the round off round off entry which was even harder.
Yes, Shannon did eventually master this vault but here she and Milo tried to go cheap to get the 10 start value but both should have been deducted more severely as neither stay laid-out throughout.
I agree. Both Milo and Miller should not have scored anywhere near as high as they did. If they were 9.8+ then Lilia at the Goodwill Games should have been 10.1 for this same vault. Dina may have won the AA this year if vault was scored right! She did a 9.9 vault but atleast did it perfectly. You are right though Miller improved this vault a ton by 95 and 96. It was beautiful by then, unfortunately only a 9.9 value vault by then. Milo never improved it and always was ugly.
I agree that it was overscored, but this was still a really new vault at this point, and the Goodwill Games had not occurred yet, and Lilia didn't compete this vault at this Worlds. Like I said, I agree they were overscored, but they may have been judging nicely because it was a new vault that was perceived to be difficult, and it's likely no one had performed it properly yet, so with the two big names performing it in the same way, a 9.8 score isn't a huge shock--wrong as it is.
Sacramones performance was terrible during the olympics and was the reason why Team USA lost. With that kind of performance and still made it to the national team, I wonder how many coaches did she have to sleep with in order to get the spot. Her ass is so fat, I think her ass is at least 20 pounds extra compared to her teammates. That was why she brought down Team USA. Stupid bitch should go to Jenny Craig. Alicia will go down as the worst, and most disgraceful gymnast in Olympic history.
It really worths less than the full twist now? I didn't knew it! Wondered why there was so many full twisting now and not so many half turn... But the landing is more difficult in a half turn, no?
why was the yurchenko with half a twist the same tarif as a 1.5 yurchenko and a double twisting yurchenko???!! today, it's worth even less than a full twisting yurchenko.
that was SOOOOOO retarded. urgh thank god for the new code
i agree with you that the yurchenko half twist should NOT in the same start value as the 1.5 twist or double twist. But it's definitely harder than the full twist yurchenko because of the blind landing on the .5 yurchenko.
It is technically a yurchenko arabian layout off...not just a half twist. That is what made it more difficult than the full twisting yurchenko. It was a new vault at this time so it was given a 10.0 start value, but was quickly de-valued to a 9.9 (below the 1.5 and 2 twists).
The new code, I believe, has done away with counting when you twist in the flip...it's just a matter of how many twists and how many flips, which is why it is now a lower start value than the full twisting yurchenko.
that score should have been 9.662

I don't understand what was with the scoring on her vaults at these games, very inflated.

i'm not saying i was glad with the fall, but she really did not deserve a medal, which she would have won if it wasn't for the fall...

@twisterflip95 - Jaycie had the vault named after her at the 1994 Dortumund Worlds, held later this same year.
kubrickfan 1 year ago
Wait, so this vault was named after jaycie instead because she landed it. In which world meet did she land it for the first itme?

It was out of a 10, so 9.825 is actually very accurate. Plus her form was exceptional!

I didn't mean her landing with the form thing. There weren't any breaks but the landing.
12bmills 3 years ago
Yeah I realize that is what you meant but her form in the air wasnt great either. She was piked in the air. If you cant see it you must be blind.
raichmaneuvers 3 years ago
Well I think piking is part of this particular vault because she does it every time she performs this vault, even all the way to 1996 in Atlanta.

ITA-reputation certainly did help her here.

@raichmaneuvers: That was a joke. Look at Gogean's 1-1/2 twist, a MUCH better landing, and only a 9.812. Something is wrong with that!
