I saw a used Makarov PM at a sporting g0ods/gun shop not to0 long ago for 250 $US. Didn't get. They sold it. Had Polish markings. Blued finish. Black plastic grip. They didn't have any 9x18mm Mak ammo, but I asked a clerk and he said they've carried it in the past. Went to another gun shop. They had 9x18 in stock. It was cheap to0. They also had 5.45 for cheap but no magazines for rifles of that caliber.
I am currently getting this build but my question is, Does the build contain a story or is it just so you can go around and play the old levels and what not. So their work wouldn't have gone to waste.
Nothing was taken out of the build. There might have been a mission, but I doubt it, I didn't play with it too much.
It's still fun to walk around and see all the things cut out of the retail game. And it really gives you a better understanding of how game development progresses.

I hope modders take this and make it into more of a game than a tech demo per sé.
I've downloaded it from the GSC site, but haven't played it yet. Is it just me, or does the fire propagate?! ShOC doesn't have that IIRC!

Is there a-life?
Can you travel between levels?
Is there a DX9 mode?
Can you get jobs, quests, etc?

Q1- Yes
Q2- Yes
Q3- In oryginal alpha no, but you can download 'patch' who adding bloom effect
Q4- No, this alpha isn't have any story

You can't travel between level like you do in the real game. there are commands you have to enter to go to other areas.
There might be some kind of A-life. No jobs or quests. No DX9 mode. It's just an alpha build, really rough.

Yeah, I've played the alpha and have come to discover these things.
This build won't be very good for regular players, but modders, on the other hand...

Old build is good, but they have a lot of bugs. And we don't have any story, "only" 17 levels with mutants and soldiers, nothing more.
