wow that's good to know about which way to crave cause I knew about cutting across the grain for like cornbeef and skirt steaks. That's funny how just the way you crave some meat can make it hard to eat or make it very stringy. This was a very informational video, thanks for sharing.
@nicestman77 Thanks for the compliment, but I don't need to be fitted for a chef's hat. I may help out with videos in the future, especially those dealing with equipment, but am now ready to resume my proper place behind the lens.
My mouth is watering. Poor dog that must bet torture for him to be in that kitchen at that time. Doggies have sensitive noses. I hope he at least got a little piece of turkey. I love each and everyone of your videos because they make me feel like a guest in your home.
Oh Man my mouth was watering watching this, lol. I now know how to carve a turkey the right way now. Thanks a lot for this video Rick and I love your recipes Betty you rock!!
November 25, 2010 Thanksgiving for me too. My turkey is still in the oven I couldn't wait I wish is ready and eat it curve the way you do. Is so simple to curve.
He's spot on about cutting across the grain, it really does the trick. Don't test your knife that way though, it'll ruin your manicure. LOL. Thanks for adding that gravy there at the end. Yum!
Great Turkey carving tips, Rick! Lovely presentation on the plate, too! I noticed your sous chef there on hand to give you carving advice, Rick, lol..I bet he was hoping for a slip of the knife and one for the ol' gipper!! hahahaha! Hope you all had a lovely thanksgiving. Angie
@kokonutbaby1 Hi Angie! I'm very late in answering your comment, but thanks for your sweet comment and nice wishes! I noticed you made a comment today--thanks for that! I hope you are well!
Hey Betty, wishin' Rick and you a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! Yeah, sure was helpful, so instead of havin' the big roasted bird there on the dining table, ya have the meat carved and ready for servings,.....AWESOME!! And leftover turkey,....hmm...it'll make some MIGHTY FINE turkey sandwiches! = )
Thanks for your comment on the carving! I will pass it on to Rick! Yes, when the turkey is carved properly, you get some nice leftover slices for turkey sandwiches! And for the leftover chunks of turkey, I will have a recipe for you tomorrow!
I love your videos Betty. They make me happy. Loves the ones of when you and your hubby go out. It's nice to see different places from the comfort of my sofa ;)
Thanx for the vid Rick and Betty. U did a great job Rick don't be such a stranger. Like the aginst the grain lesson. Have never thought about it that way. Gonna try that my self. Keep them comming. Have enjoyed all that I have seen.
Rick and I both grew up eating turkey that was just hacked from the bone, so we decided to do it a little more manageably! Thanks for your sweet comment!
Thank you. I am a 65-year old first time cook. This video was most helpful especially the part of cutting across the grain of the meat and the final presentation platter. Ignatius
It was so nice to see the Camera Man in the lime light. Just want to suggest to folks who have limited hand and arm strength that an electric knife can be used... follow Rick's instructions, of course!!! Thank you both... I truly look forward to seeing you each day or so. Happy holidays and please continue bringing us joy in 2010.
Hi Patsy! That's a good idea about using an electric knife! I will tell Rick that you liked his instructions! You have been a continual source of great information for me, Patsy! Happy Holidays to you!
Hi Linda! Thanks for your sweet comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and I hope it will help you with carving your turkey! I will pass your message along to Rick!

HI, this is Rick answering this particular comment. First, thank you (and everyone else) for your kind comments. Second, there's a reason why Betty is doing the cooking videos and not me. How wonderful, Betty...I enjoyed the videos and presentation...I wish you and your beautiful family a very very Happy Thanksgiving filled with love and peace..
Doggonit Betty, would you just try to make a less tender turkey next time! I think Rick was getting frustrated by the ease in which he was able to remove the meat from the bone (wahhhh). Just kidding! ; ) I love to carve in the kitchen and present like you did. Just thought I would give you a good ribbing! Thanks!
Yes, I could tell Rick was getting distressed that the turkey was more tender than he expected. However, it was very good! The carving and garnishing the food is part of the fun of Thanksgiving! Thanks for your lovely comment!
Remy, the "miniature" poodle knows better than to beg food from me while I'm cooking. Rick is the soft touch. I'm glad you find the video useful! I will pass it along to Rick!
Betty & Rick, you may want to place a disclaimer on this video about the dangers of using one's thumbnail as a sharpness tester! There are some people out there that....well, you know!
Thank you rick for teaching me a new word to use in my regular vocabulary; Troglodyte!
