@MrSermon7 glad you like it. You're doing good work against hyperpreterism. Don't be fooled by Sam Frost or his protege "kingnebster" (aka Jason Bradfield), Frost is STILL within the movement, otherwise he wouldn't keep saying hyperprets are his "brothers".
Hyperprets try to dispute that Max King claimed to be the "founder" of their movement, however on the back of a biography book, written by his son Tim King, it says; “King created a field of theology that he termed ‘covenant eschatology..." - further it says: "Max R. King (born 1930) is the founder of the school of thought known as Transmillennialism..." -- So as you can see, Max King most certainly IS credited as the "founder" of the "full preterist" movement.
@thekingdomcomedotcom It's not a cult. I know what a cult is and this is not it. I am an honest Christian and I've studied it well for many years. I can't find any objection to full preterism, or hyper as you like to call it.
Mormons and JWs also think they are not a cult. They also think they are "honest Christians". The truth is, no matter how long you have "studied" hyperpreterism, it is still NOT CHRISTIAN anymore than Mormonism is Christian.
@thekingdomcomedotcom Both Mormons and JWs can easily be shown to be in error in their theology. It is not possible to do the same to the preterists. I tried and the undeniable proof is right under your nose.
Again, even Mormons and JWs think the "proof" for their cult is "undeniable". Chewie, you're forgetting I WAS a hyperpreterist, like you for 15 years. I already KNOW why and how people buy into this cult. I'm sorry you have fallen for it. I pray you get out of it. I know it won't be easy. Look at Sam Frost, he is STILL stuck in in though claiming he is out. Sad indeed.
@thekingdomcomedotcom Again, it is easy to disprove the Mormons and JW. They don't compare. I understand that you were one. It's not a cult however. The tell tales signs of a cult are not present. I can't comment on Sam. I'm not keeping up with his views. I'm surprised that for 15 years it made sense to you and now it doesn't. But then again I was dispensational for a long time too prior to becoming a preterist, like most people. It's not something to be afraid of.
The "tell-tale" signs are certainly present: 1) A disdain for the "traditional" or historical 2) Purposeful seclusion (many hyperprets only hang out on hyperpret sites) 3) Inordinate devotion to the system
And perhaps the one you are exhibiting the most, willfully unaware of events within the cult/movement -- such as not knowing what Frost is doing/saying. Frost is very important within the movement. P.S. No is is "afraid" of HP, rather we are disgusted with it.
1) according to this definition, you can also say that Martin Luther/John Calvin, and all of the reformers are cultists. This doesn't hold water. I don't have a "disdain" for a traditional view. Why can't a "traditional" view be wrong in some aspects, I'm not saying all aspects. Luther called out the church for their traditional false views. 2) What is wrong with preterists trying to hang out? It's called community, or "fellowship". 3) Preterists are always studying. nothing wrong there.
Luther and the reformers were AGAINST folks like you hyperprets, except in his day they called you "Enthusiasts" (look it up). Hyperpreterism is not a "reformation", it is a rebellion. Luther and the other reformers DIDN'T oppose "the Church" -- they opposed PAPALISM. This is the problem with Mormonism to Hyperpreterism -- you guys think you are the new Luthers. Luther would reject your views as much as I am. Hyperpreterism is a cult in the most plain sense.
Hyperpreterism is a cult that is perhaps more dangerous than any cult, because it flies under the radar of cultdom. It has no specific leader yet the effects of being in the hyperpreterist "movement" (and trying to leave) is the same as it is with any cult.
Another thing that's really sad and disturbing is that they come in for the kill... "Slyly" and scheming with words of "honesty" but are LIES. They sneak in and aim to CORRUPT those whose faith is not SOLID in the WORD of the Lord. Thier 'words" are worthless and dirty, and thier entire purpose is to lead the faithful into the firey pit where they walk towards.... BEWARE of the false teaching of Preterism. Trust in the prophesies that are CLEARLY BEING fulfilled right now. In God's HOLY name.
OK.. Pretty interesting. Sounds (and looks) like an occult to me. I had constantly heard "but none of the Bible was actually written TO any of us" and I have seen distinct words being corrupted like "this generation" and "shortly" come to pass" and they say that "This is a most critical issue with which serious and honest Bible students have to deal because the integrity of Christ and His Word is really what is at stake here". Notice how the word "honest" was thrown in there?
It implies that if you DON'T believe in this, then you must be deceiving. My problem is that it's argumentative, and those who do not wish to participate in the belief are a target for boastful statements that they are "right" and you are wrong. The Bible has been twisted to meet the need. The statement about the Bible NOT meant for ANY of us is quite contradictory to thier constant use of it to prove points. If it was not meant for ANY of us in THIS generation, then why use it at all?
I'm just sad because I lost a really good friend over this and he's not the only one. There was another friend that I used to be very close to. We had been friends for many years and we don't talk at all now because of this belief. Because I wouldn't "go" for it then, and I'm not going for it now. I felt an evil when I read writings from Charles Martin "The crucial missing link" It was completely bogus to me.
I think the final thing I want to say is that my (our) belief in the Christ coming doesn't even hurt anyone at all. False teachings come and go, but the "word" stands true doesn't it. My problem is the my friend is being deceived. He can't "see" because he's TOO far gone in this lie. There are OBVIOUS signs of prophesy being fulfilled, but he still can't see them. He's blinded. God told us that we would have understanding, when we see truth, and he can't see. It's right here and he can't see :(
There is a guy out here by the name William bell and his ministry is called all things fulfilled. Guys watch out, if you can don't pay him mind especially if you are not very grounded. the secret to their heresy is not seeing the "now" and "not yet" character of the kingdom. That the coming of the kingdom is progressive one with a beginning (in christ first coming), and a final phase ( at the second coming). Israel's destruction officially inaugurated the first phase of the kingdom of heaven.
Thanks brother, lets blow the whistle on the wolves. ITs a very dangerous teaching and robs christ of his glory, and complete victory over sin, satan, and the wicked. It leads to lawlessness, as such i say it is one of the frogs that come from the old serpent himself to deceive and cause men to apostasise. That is the very seed of that which causes apostasy and a drawing away after the antichrist. It is an antichrist spirit among us. lets fight it valiently amen!
Thanks for the comments. I'd like to interview some cofC people that have been directly affected by Max King & his son Tim King. Drop me a message if you know how I might get in contact with some people.
@cjnobile Hello, I am eager to hear your experience. Hyperpreterism leaves a lot of destruction in its wake and it is hard to believe that everything was just peachy when Max King began teaching this in his congregations. The story should be told so people can know what a destructive factor hyperpreterism is.
Glad you liked it. Hyperpreterism is rising, often unawares within Christianity. Even the new ESV bible has unwittingly given validity to hyperpreterism. More people need to understand what this heresy is before it sneaks into to hearts, minds, & churches.
follow the link to my website & use the contact form there, I'll email you the info about ESV & would like to hear about your experience with the hyperprets.
You're welcome Mike. I just thought it was time to put out a clear introduction to what this "movement" is about (All glory to God). I know you've been dealing with hyperpreterists for a while & it presently looks like they are targeting you.
The Gospel as the Bible explains it & as Jesus first preached it is this: "Repent and believe" (Mark 1:14). Repent of what? Of our sinful nature, not just individual sins. Believe what? That Christ is God incarnate, died on the Cross to make atonement for our sins & rose again on the 3rd day & ascended to the Father (Dan 7:13) to reign. And that we too are partakers in His resurrection & one day will be with Him in Heaven.
