I remember listening to this particular show somewhere back in the '50s. Shepherd was great. He did this stuff night after night, and every night it was fresh. If you can believe it, his shows were non-political, Never did he back a political philosophy on the air.
I listened to Jean do these bits every weeknight on WOR when I was a kid, with the transistor radio tucked under my pillow. Many times, probably this was one of them...I had to squash my face into the pillow to keep from laughing out loud and alerting my mother to the fact that I wasn't asleep...I was listening to the fabulous Jean Shepherd! Great memory. Thanks.
@Sklarman I think you might have the wrong Jean in mind....this is Jean Shepherd, not Shepard. This is perfectly appropriate footage for the story he's telling.
This reminds me of the way my husband pokes fun at my cousin, who sometimes sings in an "operetic" type of voice. We were laughung our butts off, going "Ahhhhhh", in a high voice, if a falsetto.

You did a great job with the mix on this. Thanks.

What is this recording from? It seems an unusually out of place topic for Shepherd.
