@danielxism He died from a multitude of pills, not just sleeping. Some were anti-depressants, anti-psychotics, he also had some for back pain and insomnia. He had VERY poor doctors prescribing him whatever and didn't care, they just wanted to get some cash and didn't take into account what Ledger was already on. The guy was just under so much stress from the Joker role that it literally killed him in the end.

Christopher Nolan said in regards to the look of the Joker that they had given him a "grungy, kind of Kurt Cobain appearence" Kurt Cobain is also one of Ledger's heroes. @piemakesmelol I see some of Sid Vicious movements in the Jokers "swagger" but more than Vicious, the Jokers mimics are often very similar to Alex from Clockwork Orange (another influence).

In my opinion, Ledger could have also taken some of Anthony Zerbes characteristics from "Omega Man", especially in those scenes where you see a mix of spite and sarcasm in his face.
