Hey i was just curious...when your rx8 is idling...does the shift knob shake a bit? Im looking at buying a 2005 rx8 and i noticed that when its idling, the shifter shakes, enough to make your hand move. However, it immediately stops shaking when I step on the gas. Does your rx8 do this as well?

@alfredomnzn I got a new 8, the 2010 R3. I miss the old rims but the new rims are pretty cool too. Got it tinted and Racing Beat exhaust. It's not lowered but looks decent with 19" wheels. Short shifter is standard so don't need to do that mod. No GPS on this. Enjoy your 8.

You know, I never really calculated it. Everybody talks about that but I just dealt with it. Mind you, the 8 sure does use gas (and sometimes oil). Won't stop me from getting an R3 though. Good luck!

By the way, there is only one performance mod you need, the rest can remain stock. That's FI !! I dropped in a Petite Supercharger in my stock '04 GT. Along with my COBB AP I get 305WHP.

Yeah don't really like the new exterior looks of the newer model 8's, mainly the front end, but I guess that can be changed with a kit. Appearently the suspension is a little better then previous models.

Should of got Tein Basic Coil-Over. They are cheap, and adjustable.

Sorry for the delay in writing...I love the MS kit. Good for you. The spoiler is not easily removed at all and it was a bit of a b1tch to install ... caused a few scratches removing the old one. But I like it. I sold that car when i moved out of the country but returning and hopefully getting an R3 which looks like it has the MS sides (or close) and a decent front end.

Of course it doesn't make much difference during everyday traveling on the local roads and freeways. It still functional at speeds above 80 like most spoilers, diffusers, and other aerodynamic goodies. It's either functional or it's not, and the MS spoiler for the 8 is.

Hey I'm 17 and just bought a 2005 rx8 6MT Shinka edition this week and i was just wondering what you might suggest as some of the first vital performance mods i should save up for. i figured prolly a cold air intake and a new exhaust and if you agree, any brands you would recommend???

Hey congrats! That is so awesome. I totally agree with your choices of mods (mazdaspeed for cai to avoid warranty issues and any exhaust you like), consider lowering springs but not too low (that will be excellent for you), window tint (only legal spec though). Definitely write me back when you get pics/vids and drive safe most important. And enjoy!! You did it!

hi there i just got mine yesterday and so can i put any kind of exhaust or will that mess with my warranty and am i able to take the vale stems out of the og rims and put them on after market rims to keep my tire light from going on?

Congrats on getting the 8! I think you can put any kind of exhaust on with no problem ... helps if you have a good relationship with your service people. I don't have tire light here in Canada so don't know about valve stems. Good luck and hope to see your 8 in pics.

Performance edition RX-8, what would that roughly range about in Price? Also, when you put in those Modifications yourself, did you actually do it yourself? or were you able to kind of tell the Mazda Dealers what you wanted and they'd install it for you?

I can't be sure of the price of that but I bet you can find out on-line. Even just to call a mazda dealer and ask. Might be around $35K or so. I did not do the mods myself, wish I had that skill. I got some put on at muffler shop (lowering springs), greddy exhaust at friends shop, all mazdaspeed parts at dealer ... they have no problem with most mods. But mazdaspeed stuff is way over priced.

im assuming your talkin about engine flooding in which case i think there was an ECU update that helps stop that from happening,

check with your mazda dealer if your car has any outstanding recalls.

in any case i have had mine for about a year without doing that and even on/off ignition with no problems.

on occasion it has been a bit reluctant to start (ignition for 3-4 seconds as opposed to immediate start) i dont think its anything to worry about.

I've never had a problem with my '07 but I don't shut it down 2 seconds after start when it's cold or anything like that. Otherwise, no issues.

you should get the oil from the mazda dealer parts department, its specifically for the RX8

Just check the oil every 3 to 4 tanks, if it needs some, add it, otherwise just keep checking and add when needed. Change oil according to the maintenance schedule. Redline when you can, drive hard but safe. Good luck and enjoy!

Yeah, of course but just checking, haha. Went to your channel and left a comment. I change the oil according to the manual, sometimes a bit earlier. 10w20, not synthetic. I buy my oil at the dealer but could get it elsewhere. I check the oil frequently and add when I need it. Not that often. Just check oil every few fill-ups, do maintenance at dealer .. and you're good! What colour/type interior?

If you decide to get an 8, you won't be disappointed. It's a bit expensive to find mods that fit perfect and all but not that bad. And don't be sucked into the whole "it doesn't have enough power" debate. The RX8 is an amazing car, way fun to drive. Good luck!

Right on! Glad you like it. You should see the wheel rash on the nice Axis Halo's from hitting a couple of curbs. Really annoying since they are so light, they easily scratch. Otherwise, the 8 is doing just fine. Thx.

Nice, I like the RX-8 but prefer the mid 90s FD3S RX-7. I have a 92 Miata with a Mazda Speed interior package (From a newer MX-5), a Greddy Ti-C Catback, Work Racing XT7 DMHG Wheels, 2002 MX brake conversion, and was thinking about transplanting one of those awesome 13Bt engines into her! Mazdas RULE!

Good choice, the 8 was/is also my dream car. I haven't raced it and probably won't but it is important to hit the redline frequently. Some ppl feel there isn't enough power but really, I am completely happy with it. I'd like a bit more power but I can live without it (and when would I really need more?), plus the car is dead sexy. It has everything going for it. Thanks for the comment.

i think all that is the interior and under the hood.

i would suggest going for preformance first because you will enjoy the car more, and will satisfy you for the time being until you mod the interior. try to get a little bit of color in there aswell. Black is a good base, if you can try and get some vinyls on there. the classic viper racing strips are simple, and won't look bad either

Some people feel the 8 is already pretty well set for performance (not me, though) so going for appearance mods is okay for some. However, if you do appearance only, that's a bit vain.

I've never been overly happy with the sand (whitish) leather interior, though, and would have preferred black leather. I don't care at all for vinyl or carbon fibre so that's out for me.
