Actually, you're wrong there. Some people DO have viking blood in them, it gives them characteristics of the vikings like people who are descended from the celts who have characteristically red hair. It may not be as potent as before due to interbreeding but it's definitely there.

"Viking" blood is Scandinavian blood. It belongs to people from Norway, Denmark, Sweden... "Viking" is not a race, just a romantic exaguration of barbarianism. the actual blood is Norse.

For example, I am Danish (Bournholm) and Norwegian (Settled Shetland in the Viking Age) by heritage. That would be a modern example of your "viking blood". I think you need to read more books, and watch less movies.

Yes the meaning of "mark" is pretty much saying it was heavely guraded land, so yes it was the mark of the danes but never belonged to the danes. Example is austria used to be called the Ostmark and it evolved into Oesterreich, which mean Kingdom of the east
