That entire scene represents the end of Selena. It's confusing, I know, I didn't get it until I actually thought about why specifically a rose and not a daisy or something. Dropping a rose symbolizes the end of life, in this case, Selena's

She went to sleep and started dreaming of her performing "Dreaming Of You" - a white rose signifies many different things, innocence, purity, or even death. The fact that someone threw her a rose and she wasnt able to catch it could mean that she was almost seeing her dream come true until someone took that away from her - which is why the flower didnt reach her. She music cutting off is a metaphor. She was silenced.

I think this was a creative way to shoot Selena's final scene, one that wouldn't offend the family or fans. They definitely didn't want to show her getting shot and bleeding and suffering from any pain. I think it was euphemistic while still being touching and evoking sadness and respect.

Other singer use electronic help. It's true there are some excellent singers but I find very few memorable at all. Singing needs to get back to basics. A talented singer with a good voice singing a well written and thought out song. Very little need for gimmicks if you have that.
