i have the same set i got it in 2007 its a great set and my kids love it but i never liked how it has such poor smoke out put and the reason why it dosent smoke like it should lionel use a cheap & very small heating element that dosent get hot enough to make a good amount smoke so ordered a a good high qty heating element that should be hear today if it all works out i post a new video of the set

@adythekiller i assume yes because it has 3 rails and all the cars light up because its plugged into the wall the electricity then goes into the remote and from that into one piece of track on the bottom of the engine i betcha a million dollars there's a little wheel the size of a thimble that is what powers the train and lights up the cars. they don't make them like they used to and i cant believe would people replace a like lionel o gauge train with a crappy battery powered one,
