u guys r trippin, i played football and i understand how these guys made this game. if u run sideways, ur gunna get swooped up, but the more u run straight the more ur gunna out run people. trust me its as real as it gets
Joe Flacco passing for touchdowns "so many times over the years"? You'd think EA could link that soundbite from Chris Collinsworth to non-rookies only so it'd make a bit more sense, but apparently not.
1) Suction tackling is still there: Seriously does every tackle require animation? the times where the def goes in to the tackling animation 2 yards from the ball carrier is terrible.
2) Lack of momentum. I should be able to juke defenders with a basic knowledge of speed and angles.
3) Tackle breaking logic looks so random, it should be based on balance, which is inevitably tied into MOMENTUM, but im guessing that all the animations make that impossible to compute. Less animation =more control.
You're right. If you've heard of it, Backbreaker a football game is adding very little or no animations via a new engine called the Euphoria engine in their tackling system and it looks unbelievably real. The game is going to have to get tweaks over the next years but as a first year football game, it's looking great. Madden has had 20 YEARS of "innovation" and people still hate it. Players take slow steps when accelerating and there is no "push" in their strides for realism.
