Simple solution. A Z06 really doesn't need the whole supercharger treatment to be faster than it already is. As a matter of fact more Z06 owners prefer to stay naturally aspirated than relying on artificial horsepower by merely adding a cam/intake combo.
At the end of the day it really all depends on the driver.

Maybe the guy in Z06 is a horrible driver, maybe the GT500 cut a light and hit all his shift points, maybe the GT500 is faster in the 1/4 mile. Everyone just chill. We all know the GT500 is fast. We all know the Z06 is fast. Stop pushing your chest out, your gonna have back problems when you get older.
What's it matter whether the GT500 is modded? He still came out cheaper than buying a Vette which it seems only 50 year old mid life crisis people buy. The GT500 sounds better, can haul twice as many people, has trunk space, etc.
lol you're a moron. Here's the deal. The Z06 has to push 6.28 lbs for each hp. The GT500 KR has to push 7.26 lbs per hp. The Z06 is 745 lbs lighter, with rear tires that are 17.54%wider. The Z06's cD is .34 compared to the GT500's .38, and the Z06 has nowhere near the amount of frontal surface area that the GT500 has. So basically the corvette's engine has to push less weight through the air with less effort. It's obvious.

the terminators hp is way under rated. I got the book John Colletti & Ford's Terminator which reveals everything that went into building the car. It was the 1st time they had ever built a 400+hp mustang & the insurance rate would be to high so to lower insurance rate they stated a lower hp rating than it acutually produced. This was done so people wouldn't be discouraged to buy car due to the insurance rate they would be paying for a mustang & they had taken a big chance on building this car.
It produced about 425hp & the GT500 barely produces the 500hp. u have to take into account that the terminator has an IRS which gives it better traction than the solid axle the gt500 has. the gt500 came w/ 3.27 gears & the termi's came w/ 3.55, the terminator revs up much faster giving it that quicker launch. My friend owns an 07 gt500 and I beat him bad off the line when my car was stock, on a roll he had a better chance but still got beat, now modded he gets smoked just like the viper & Z06

@Sarvoth1 i was comparing the gt500 and terminator. I beat one bone stock and we raced twice. Each time the gt500 would spin out on 1st which was major factor in loss we also did race at 30mph roll and still would lose due to traction. Most high end cars come with irs instead of solid axle. the solid axle can just handle more power without breaking as easily. You can stiffen up irs with chromoly axle shafts,etc., etc.. to handle 1000+hp to the wheels.
@Sarvoth1 , reason why irs in terminator gets better traction off the line compared to gt500 is that you get axle twist off the line and at every shift. This is why you see most cars crash into walls at drag strip. The axle twist to one side or the other and launches car sideways into wall. IRS, no axle twist as it is independent, it will always launch straight. Of course there are ways to stiffen rear axle and suspension too on gt500 but i was referring to both of them stock.

The guy in the Vette must have been his first time out and over 65 Y.O. I have an 07 C6 that can beat a stock GT500 and this was a Z06. Check out the new Car & Driver, C6 Grand Sport vs GT500. The Grand Sport has the C6 LS3 and beat the crap out of the new GT500 that has +40 bhp than this one.
Maybe, but I worked on several 500's for a very reputable Mustang shop, and can attest with only bolt ons... 700HP to the wheels in attainable, streetable and reliable. I've personally taken one 9.4@140 in the quarter with bolt ons, and the stock supercharger. I'm a GM guy all the way but you can make those Modular 4 valves scream.
Have you heard about the possible 2011 or 2012 GT500, they are switching to an all aluminum block and possible twin turbo set up. That thing will be fast. I guess thats going to be there answer to the 2011 Camaro Z/28, Supercharged 6.2 L, 556 hp, 551 lb-ft-tq.

Simple solution. A Z06 really doesn't need the whole supercharger treatment to be faster than it already is. As a matter of fact more Z06 owners prefer to stay naturally aspirated than relying on artificial horsepower by merely adding a cam/intake combo.
At the end of the day it really all depends on the driver.

lol you're a moron. Here's the deal. The Z06 has to push 6.28 lbs for each hp. The GT500 KR has to push 7.26 lbs per hp. The Z06 is 745 lbs lighter, with rear tires that are 17.54%wider. The Z06's cD is .34 compared to the GT500's .38, and the Z06 has nowhere near the amount of frontal surface area that the GT500 has. So basically the corvette's engine has to push less weight through the air with less effort. It's obvious.

The C6 Z06 outperforms the GT500 but a HUGE margin in every category possible given equal drivers. A C5 Z06 isn't any more a drivers race with a Terminator than a Terminator is with an LS1 F-body. Its DEFINITELY not a drivers race if you meant C6 Z06. A bad driver can screw any race over with almost any matchup.

the terminators hp is way under rated. I got the book John Colletti & Ford's Terminator which reveals everything that went into building the car. It was the 1st time they had ever built a 400+hp mustang & the insurance rate would be to high so to lower insurance rate they stated a lower hp rating than it acutually produced. This was done so people wouldn't be discouraged to buy car due to the insurance rate they would be paying for a mustang & they had taken a big chance on building this car.

It produced about 425hp & the GT500 barely produces the 500hp. u have to take into account that the terminator has an IRS which gives it better traction than the solid axle the gt500 has. the gt500 came w/ 3.27 gears & the termi's came w/ 3.55, the terminator revs up much faster giving it that quicker launch. My friend owns an 07 gt500 and I beat him bad off the line when my car was stock, on a roll he had a better chance but still got beat, now modded he gets smoked just like the viper & Z06

@Sarvoth1 i was comparing the gt500 and terminator. I beat one bone stock and we raced twice. Each time the gt500 would spin out on 1st which was major factor in loss we also did race at 30mph roll and still would lose due to traction. Most high end cars come with irs instead of solid axle. the solid axle can just handle more power without breaking as easily. You can stiffen up irs with chromoly axle shafts,etc., etc.. to handle 1000+hp to the wheels.

@Sarvoth1 , reason why irs in terminator gets better traction off the line compared to gt500 is that you get axle twist off the line and at every shift. This is why you see most cars crash into walls at drag strip. The axle twist to one side or the other and launches car sideways into wall. IRS, no axle twist as it is independent, it will always launch straight. Of course there are ways to stiffen rear axle and suspension too on gt500 but i was referring to both of them stock.

Comparing the zo6 to a gt500 is like comparing a suped up civic to a honda nsx.The chassis of the zo6 is simply better than the ford mustang.the zo6 can hold wider tyres the body is lighter more aerodynamic and so on.The zo6 has a greater potential.And anybody at ford can tell you the mustang was not made to compete with corvette.The ford gt is more of a compitition to the corvette too bad they stop making them.

ya and for all i know the gt500 didnt have the gas down all the way. the only reason the vette pulls away from a gt500 is because the gt500 has way slimmer tires which makes it spin forever from a dig. put 10.5's on it and it wil keep up with the vette, also just because the vette has better handling doesnt mean the gt500 cant keep up. most roads dont exactly have corners that a gt500 cant take just as well as a vette! its not like your gonna be raciong someone at laguna sect!!!

If you have more balls in a gt500 than the guy in the vette then your gonna win. Also the new trac pack for the 2011gt500 slays the vettes. I would know being that i rode in the 2011 gt500 yesterday with a level 3 driver around the international raceway. Handled like a dream. And flew by the vettes.

Maybe, but I worked on several 500's for a very reputable Mustang shop, and can attest with only bolt ons... 700HP to the wheels in attainable, streetable and reliable. I've personally taken one 9.4@140 in the quarter with bolt ons, and the stock supercharger. I'm a GM guy all the way but you can make those Modular 4 valves scream.

Slalom speeds are pathetic and the only reason it has decent grip (skidpad) its only due to its sticky tires. It's one dimensional. If you want a handling Mustang, you get the Roush...

I am looking at the top Nurburgring laptimes right now and there is absolutely no Ford at all other then the Ford GT (which I might add got dominated by the ZR1 by 14 seconds). The only American car that's faster then it is the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR. Once again, look up the facts your clueless dickhead.

However, this video obviously fails to mention that either the GT500 is tuned or the Z06 driver doesn't know how to drag because every car magazine tested the Z06 to be faster.
About the whole track thing... I was just proving to the dickhead germankid that Chevy ('vettes) make good brakes since they are track cars. Nurburgring=source.

As you can see with the ZR1, Chevy is trying this supercharging thing also, but maybe a little too late, huh? Smaller displacement and forced induction seems to be the wave of the future. I think we've seen the last of these big displacement engines (hopefully not).
