Rich, You have made it impossible to ever get rid of my Saturn. I will never have the same mastery of any other car that you have given me with your videos. Thanks( I thinK)
Sadly, my problem is that my light never comes on. I know the light isn't burnt out because it flickers sometimes. It seems that there is a switch in the trunk latch that wears out.
With the new switch in the "ON" position, opening and closing the trunk lid will allow the light to work as usual, because the new switch is in series with the latch switch.
You said the red/black wire was the ground wire from the latch switch. I thought the frame was the "ground/common" side of car circuits?? Can you explain further?
Did you disconnect the battery before you cut the wire or did it not matter in this instance?
You are right ,the latch switch is the ground for the light.I did not disconnect the battery.Seeing it was the neg side of the circuit i decided not to.
i have honda civic and it has separate switch for the link in the trunk

What if I wanted to add colored lighting that would go on and off automatically with the trunk? what wires would I need to cut?

Why do some people ever want to turn the trunk light off?

My guess is that they want to keep the trunk open for a while without killing the battery.

Great video and a very useful modification!
