  • I think the lyrics to the song are "this video is fuckin useless, this video is fuckin useless, lalala...."

  • @Isjix Airbags typically have further fasteners under the dash. The video just didn't include that part.

  • @tubeofyoupaste I apologize if I never replied to your question. I thought I had but don't see it here. I have matched color by eye for over 20 years just using primary colors. Only the repaired area and a few surrounding inches are recolored.

  • MINGO MONKEY

  • airbags snap in just like that?

  • i have 2 questions, was there any texture in the dash, if so how did u match it? also did u repaint the whole dash or did u find the same original color ?

  • @tubeofyoupaste Yes, the dash had a typical GM dash texture. I use a spray texture to add grain to my repair area. I only blend a the surrounding area and mix all colors by eye. After 20+ years of color matching I haven't come across a color I can't match within 95% accuracy.

  • Wow awesome job!! If I wanted to get rid of my own little scrap marks all over the hard plastic interior ( dash inbetween the seat unit ) on a DYI budget can I Where do you get that paint you sprayed? Can an individual get this? My Mom is blind and she messed up my car with her can in the passenger side pretty bad I am trying to sell it. Could you tell me what I could do ?

  • @lilywondertwin The paints I get are sold in bigger units to professionals and wouldn't be cost effective for the average consumer. But there are repair kits sold at some automotive supply stores that may work for you. SEM makes nice products and I believe some may be available for purchase by the general public.

  • how would you repiar it if its scratched textured plastic?

  • @jaggass I would repair it in a similar fashion. Depending on the type of plastic, a heat process may be used to minimize the scratch first, then it would be refinished similar to what is shown in the video.

  • @FitnessFRP im referring to the process it self not "you" , sorry if you felt offended

  • @darked777 I guess it's just a matter of opinion. But after 18 years of doing these and similar repairs I've always felt I was helping my customers by saving them money, not by cheating them. I posted this video to show how the repairs are done and demonstrate they are made to last. I see charging around $100 on a repair instead of what could be over $1000 on a new dash and installation as a good service.

  • and thats how you cheat a costumer :)

  • @darked777 If you're referring to the repair as cheating a customer, I only do repairs that are requested to be done. No one would have this repair done and not be aware of it.

  • @FitnessFRP Fuck you, you've been cheating people and ripping them off out of their hard earned cash!

  • @mypalrocco Have I done work for you or are you making a generalization? I wouldn't call saving people hundreds of dollars by doing a repair they asked me to do 'ripping them off'. If you feel I've specifically cheated you in some way please be more specific and I'd like to see what I can do.

  • ok dude i have a 1997 f150 lariat and the dash is cracked in two places from windshield to the stero, and i think that there is one more on the way, can that be repaired or i just have to replace it, and if i have to replace it were can i go i think that the dealer might have it right?

  • @xXEltorroXx1 A repair on your dash is unlikely to last very long. Cracks that develop due to age and sun exposure are not very durable. A dealer would likely have a dash, but I would recommend contacting a body shop, since their labor rates are often lower, and they will be more likely to attempt to find a used dash.

  • Good job, thanks for posting.

  • I have serched all the internet There is so many companys out there selling dash repair kits If its so simple when why can I not find a real company who will do the repair for me ?? Any help here I have a 1968 442 dash with cracks all over the place and they do not repo the pad Any help to point some one in the right direction?? P.S. your dash is going to crack again You must get some kind of support from the back Give it 2 months and ad what happend to the dash

  • @realsschevelle We do all of our repairs in house. But would not attempt a repair on a 68 442. It may repair but not last so we wouldn't agree to do it. I am unsure as to what route to go on that.

As to the repair in the video, we did reinforce the crack from the underside, it is just edited out of the video. We have been repairing dashboards for over 30 years and have learned which ones to do and not do, and the best methods to add to the longevity of the repair.

  • What did you use to patch the crack?

  • We use a combination of automotive adhesives and a backing for strength, along with a heat weld. We do not use a kit, rather items we have experimented with over the years to achieve the best results.
