@TheBardsSongCGS I can assure you that the PAL version didn't have that intro (cuz the PAL version was the first one I played). Nope, it was only in the Japanese version.

God, i love this game. The first level is damn annoying due to the length and lack of checkpoints, but once you get Sasuke, it lets up on you. Its a damn shame there aren't more co-op side scrollers.

my brother and I played this game to death and loved it! when we found out that this game was 2 player co-op those many years ago it was a rap. I can't believe they cut this intro out. it was awesome.

I really wish they'd have left this intro in the US and PAL versions. Even if they didn't bother to provide any subtitles, it still would have been cooler. Still, at least the game was released, and awesome it was too! :)

Indeed, some of the main enemies in the game are shaped like gyroids from Animal crossing lol. yet this game dates back to before the animal crossing for the N64 was released. This game was released in 1999 and Doubutsu no Mori for N64 in 2001.

I also recall that there's another song that was cut from the US/UK version of the game: An updated version of "I am Impact" entitled "Double Impact". Is there a chance that we could ever see that one as well?

Sadly, nothing about the lyrics, but I do have some info on "Double Impact" from Wikipedia:

"The game featured two musical numbers—"SMILE AGAIN", a J-rock theme song, and "DOUBLE IMPACT"[...]These performances were inexplicably cut from the North American release of the game, leaving the title screen silent and eliminating the Impact battle preparation sequence."

This video's pretty clear, so if you're still looking for lyrics I may be able to help you. I didn't see any kanji, so hopefully it won't be too much of a problem. I can always get help from my grandma (a native speaker of Japanese) if I need it.

Yeah, that's him. He sings the opening theme in both N64 episodes. For the reocrd the one who sung the Goemon Inpakuto theme in the first goemon on N64 was the guy who sung the opening of most episodes of the "Grandizer" (aka Atlas UFO Robot) anime series.
