ka-t setups make MAD power (more than SR) for the money. i build nissan engines *like the one you see powering my hatch ;) many many people get my motor and put a cheap turbo kit put together and put down 300+hp all day and drive the cars DAILY. SR's are glass motors and have no torque...

@PBPsexMACHINE sr20det is very reliable and alot cheaper to do high boost on. ka-t u can do stock boost i've seen at 9psi, but everyone that i've seen go that high spins a rod bearing or throws a rod from running too lean, you'll need a complete rebuild on a ka24de if you wanna go ka...mine as well do sr in that case, seeing as how the sr20det can hold 25 psi in the s13 srs and almost 30 psi in s14+ srs on stock internals, ofcourse you'll need engine management, injectors etc.

@PBPsexMACHINE the ka24de is a shitty truck engine that nissan opted to put into the s chasis for lower insurance rates to encourage sales. i put 120k miles on my sr20det running 15 psi daily...every once in a while turned it up to 22 or so and had no problems out of it...sold it for my rb project, working on it now having wiring issues with the tach...sr are alot easier and alot more reliable for boost for cheap...although if you wanna waste some money and redo the internals on the ka go ahead

@PBPsexMACHINE i'm not saying the ka24de can't make mad power, but look at it this way: sr20det swap with trans (s13) -$1300 with shipping, universal intercooler - $400, exhaust with turbo mani - $400, getting the wiring done assuming you can't do it yourself(pretty easy with swap video...video is $20) - $250, mani boost controller- $15 gets you around 260whp @ 13psi for $2365...you could swap the turbo to gt2871r and get some injectors and be at around 350whp for an extra $1000.. 350whp = $3365

@ryanberry88 a cheap bore/stroker kit is $2,000 and assuming you can bore it yourself AND do all the work you're going to spend $1500 at least at a shop...unless you're just going to put a new crank, rod bearings and pistons in...rods are forged...you could reuse them, but why would you? i don't see getting this thing to over 400whp without redoing internals. its NOT happening, and if it does...bye bye block, seriously. I HAVE THE PICS TO PROVE THIS my ka24de has a hole on eachside.

@ryanberry88 it was tuned by JGYCUSTOMS. no, i don't know how to tune. i'll be honest, but i've maintained an even higher horsepower motor for longer than the lower hp motor...where does your comment make sense in that matter? i was only running 9lbs of boost...which is too much on those stock internals...that had over 150k miles on them, and it wasn't running lean when it threw the rod, it was stoic/rich according to my a/f ratio gauge...and it blew at about 5k rpms...

@ryanberry88 the ka24de-t is GREAT if you have the money to do it CORRECTLY, but since it naturally has a longer stroke, without redoing the internals,it'll throw a rod, and if you don't upgrade on the sr20 valve train, it will fold a valve spring(oh boy, thats way worse than a thrown rod)that being said, the ka24 WHEN bored stroked forged internals COULD spank a sr20det. not saying it can't...not saying sr20det is better, just CHEAPER. more bang for your buck, if you're broke.

@PBPsexMACHINE honestly if you have the motor for the rebuild for the ka or doing an sr...try riding in both first, the ka has radical torque gains at lower rpms(not so bad for drag racing if you have slicks) while the sr typically has a smother torque gain(great for drifting, coming out of corners, etc.). if you want an all out drag car...go with the ka...although in that case i'd personally rather just drop an ls2 in the 240... :D its all in what you want.

180sx and 200sx and 240sx are kinda the same lol their just different names cause ones Japanese, one is USA and one is an European version, with slightly different body parts, but who knows lol naming that car is like naming any type on BMW lol confusing to me like the 270R looks JUST like a late 90's S14. But has a different name, and engine mod (but I'm js how they look)

@poop4256 yes they are if you go sr invest in good rocker stoper's i believe they go on that and ka's if your going turbo at least upgrade to arp studs and cometic head gasket and while your their new timing chain since its all there then you should be able to run 8-10psi no problem, but the correct way is to fully rebuild and TUNE is key dont cheap out on this

these are just 2 american issue 240sx cars. the hatch is a ka24de with a cam tuned with a full rebuild and all new parts. The coupe is a stock single cam with tons of leaks haha
