  • miss this show so much :)

  • What a delicious and dry sense of humer Bob Newhart brought to tv. IN his original Bob Newhart Show, everyone called him Bob. In his Vermont gig everyone called him Dick. Think about it.

  • @jazzbass6219

I have a friend named Bob Dick!

  • TV fans are funny LOL....they LOVED the dream ending to Newhart but HATED the dream ending to St Elsewhere and the Dallas 'Bobby's Death' was just a dream story line LOL

  • @rtds9fan Don't forget how unsatisfied people were with the Lost series finale, including me. It was a funny ending for Newhart, but in Lost it just sucked.

  • @dooooodman7 Yeah...I'm guessing because Newhart was seen as a more comic show where a funny twist like this could be taken.Where Lost was a serious type show and wouldn't be.Of course I wasn't a watcher of Lost so I can't judge or comment on the show that much lol.

  • Forever my favorite ending to a series!

  • I remember watching it first run, and seeing the end. It was so funny, and loved that they managed to end it with a good joke.

  • Best Episode Ever!

  • I actually never got to watch the last episode. I saw some interviews and wished so badly I had caught it. Finally I got to with YouTube!

  • The funniest accountant in show biz. His monologues were the best part of many variety shows he appeared on before doing his own series.

  • Yes, definitely one of the best sitcoms ever. Hurray for the Button Down Wit of Bob Newhart!

  • Pure Genius!

  • Greatest Series finale ever!

  • Bob ROCKS!

  • one of the best shows ever.

  • that show always crecked me up

  • I remember seeing this when it first aired. I was like, HOLY SHIT!!! :-D

  • The "Bob Newhart Show", in my opinion, is one of the very best sitcoms ever. Bob's next sitcom "Newhart" ended with probably the best final scene ever! Having this great dream sequence end the show was perfect! Ron

  • then they used this bob dreams of owning an inn idea to lead into a "bob newhart show" reunion special. same office, same people, same lighting. then the had howard say he had a dream about being an astronaut, who's friend had a genie.

  • Yeah at the end of newhart it becomes the bob newhart show again.

  • Nobody can play god like George Burns - "Sure I made mistakes, look at the size of the pips in avacado's".

  • I never saw the final episode when it aired, but fortunately my ex-supervisor TOM, did and told me about it. I couldn't believe it when he described it. AWESOME. TV is just NOT as cool anymore...:(

  • Pure Genius. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

  • Greatest last scene in television history!!!

  • I love the ending mostly because I like The Bob Newhart Show better than Newhart... and the ending sort of says, "THAT was the pinnacle of his career, not this." ;-)

  • what prevents those audience members from going off and telling the tabloids before it airs? unless it aired live

  • the turnaround between filming and broadcast was probably short enough that even if someone did, the tabloids couldn't publish it quickly enough. No pesky internet either (in the same fashion as today, i mean)

  • Funniest series final scene EVER DONE - bar none. Right up there with the Mary Tyler Moore Show finale.

Nothing since then even comes close.

Today's 'comedy' writers couldn;t hold a candle to these long-time pros.

  • I remember the last episode, the ending was lousy...

  • the last episode is not only funny but extremley smart! thank you bob and mrs. newhart!!!

  • I still remember the night of the last episode. It was truly one of the greatest moments in television history. Thank you Bob.

  • I saw Bob Newhart last year live. He's still funny. What's sad is that my husband and I were probably the youngest ones in the audience. His humor is so subtle, so beyond what is done today, that many younger people just don't get it. I will always treasure the last episode. Nobody does it better.

  • Bob Newhart is THE MASTER of comedic timing; pure genius and a great talent...

  • I remember watching that episode and being totally blown away by that last scene. It was pure genius.

  • Both of his shows were hilarious and are still funny today. The last episode of "Newhart" was genius!

  • All of Bob's shows always had me laughing aloud. Thanks for the many years of pure comedy.

  • Go Bob!
