  • This sucks! i just heard of this movie now!

  • I'm Iroquois :)

  • Disney always creates the most beautiful songs :>

  • at 1:03 when I was a little kid, I seriously was so scared somebody was gonna fall down that hill. I think i cried over it when i was 4. #weirdchildhoodissues

  • I always thought Pocahontas' dad just radiated cool.

  • I would be totally happy living that way. Hahaha

  • I have Native American blood in me, but if you saw me you wouldn't really think it unless I mentioned it... :\

But anyways! This songs been stuck in my head ALL DAY LONG!! Ever sense this morning!

  • Beautiful song... beautiful people. Such a shame that this way of life is gone :'-(

  • @sford605 I agree

  • I wish i was American Indian!! This song makes me.feel spiritual

  • @Delpha77 We DO NOT do that, it's a stereotype. I'm Navajo, and I've never done that kind of call in my life.

  • @Starlightkitty12 That's just what that sound is called, she isn't saying every Native American people did that.

  • The actual movie isn't that great, but it truly is a work of animated art!

  • The Old Disney Movies Were The Best One's The Crap Their Showing Now Is A Bunch Of Bull That Has No Meaning (-_-)

  • My favorite part of this scene was always that guy that says "HEYY!" hahaha

  • Missing this movies :)

  • I wanna learn that Indian yell

  • @Delpha77 I already can that yell hahaha

  • Anyone else want to be one of these people? (=^_^=)

  • Everyone should make a letter to Disney to bring back allthe good channels and all the movies . No. Not Disney. WALT DISNEY. w.Disney forever. Now and days these shows have no morals and they share the same message. Fuck it.

  • BRING BACK THE MAGIC OF DISNEY

  • i Demand Those Disney People To Bring Back All The Good Movies Like Lion King, Tarzan, Mulan, Pocahontas Especially & Not Those Stupid Demi Lovatao, Nick Jonas Crappy Movies

  • @DallasCowboysBiitch

I agree today's children are missing out. I'm going to raise my kids on this.

  • While I think this is on the weaker end of the Disney spectrum, particularly considering that it ended the Disney Renaissance, its portrayal of Native Americans is pretty decent and its songs are generally AWESOME.

  • This has been my favourite film since it came out when I was two, when my mother bought it me I got so excited I spun around, bashed my sister on the head and cut her head open, breaking the film in the process, guess which I was more upset about...

  • I demand that Disney bring back stuff like this..Bastards >.<

  • steady as the beating drum

  • Watch out for those native americans, you might end up with an arrow in the knee...

  • That's a very steep hill x_x

  • Yes, i agree. one of the best in my opinion. the song bring secretive, native, legend,spiritual......... wow....good job!!!

  • I just love it how it transitions into this song. You'll hear the sailors singing, then the silent beat of the drums starts to grow, taking the scene, and bringing chills to my spine. That's what gets the movie started for me.

  • Why can't we have shows like this anymore all there is now is stupid drama on disney that is so stupid I miss the good old cartoons that we had

  • Alan Mencken wrote the score for this, and he also wrote the score for Tangled, and he lost to a terribl, unmemorable song at the end of Toy Story 3...much as I loved Toy Story 3, Randy Newman should NEVER stand a chance against Alan Mencken in a contest for Best Orgiinal Song.

  • polish lirycs

    /watch?v=X5VMcya994w

    (HD)

  • I LOVE this movie

    I hate the second.

John and her had such an awesome relationship. -___-

    Stupid.. whoever.

    I don't even know his name. -____-

  • I just loving the song

  • Steady Aim Pro

  • its my homwork

  • I want more of this kind of music. Do anybody know any that is similar to this? Thanks for posting btw!

  • i agree.. my heart pumps, my chest beats with the drum and i feel a very strong spiritual connection; but u know...whatever...doesn't matter now...school now this later...but i loved this movie...

  • This song stirs something within me

  • I wish I lived in their time :(

  • yay for paleolithic hunter gather societies. :D

  • @ANBUspecialBlackops

The Iroquois were/are neither Paleolithic (aka Stone Age peoples, who were alive 15,000 years ago, and this movie takes place in the 1600's) nor were they hunter-gatherers (from the clip alone, you can see that they were not nomads and that they subsisted mostly on agriculture with a bit of hunting and fishing on the side). Yay. :D

  • @MiniJumboPancakes lol had to look for my post to know what u were talkin bout, i already learned that in history like a couple a days ago lol thnx tho

  • i used to watch this move all the time. i dont think there are words for how much i love this movie

  • Such a beautiful song =)

I know that no people have ever been quite as perfect as shown here, but it's a beautiful thing to see people acting like this even if it is only fiction.

  • I wish with all my heart that Disney would release just one more movie made like the classics! Animation style, music and EVERYTHING!!

  • @countieshard012 i think what makes them classics because they are from our childhoods

  • I used to drive my parents nuts by demanding to see this movie EVERY DAY and singing Just around the riverbend to myself almost every waking second of the day. XD

  • @Ramarielana OH MY GODRIC I DID THAT TOO!!!!!!! Ahem....I still do. Hahaha

  • @Ramarielana i bet that upset alot of ppl lol

  • Oh I am so proud to be native at seeing this. Though, I live in the West and they live in the east :\

  • @GiGixx621625 and yet they were still brothers i'm from the eastern nation as well (Apache) and i agree with wat Pohcahantas taught to John Smith it's wat drove me to show great respect for the earth

  • @GiGixx621625 That's normal though because the natives were driven west by the settlers. :)

  • @GiGixx621625 Me too!

  • Pocahontas was one of my most favorite movies growing up as a child! I loved every song in this movie!!

  • Pocahontas was my most favorite movie in the entire world as child. I loved it so much. I used to sing to every song out loud and watch the movie at least twice a day.

  • im just saying that was the major religion at the time and it was very influential....

  • @thepuppyandpanda "not all colonists were materialistic like this movie" Well, seeing as the colonists wanted a whole continent already inhabited with people, and used any means necessary to obtain it, I would think that they were pretty materialistic.

  • @Starlightkitty12 I know, I meant that not ALL of them were. That's like saying that all Americans are selfish. Not true. Not all are. A lot of them went, because they wanted religous freedom, and I'm sure that tons of them didn't want to hurt the Natives, it was just many of the leaders and the government that wanted to.

  • @thepuppyandpanda The Powhatan have never sacrificed children to Gods, seeing as my people do not HAVE any Gods. The closest being we have that resembles a God is the Ojibwe Great Spirit, and that is not a God. We don't believe in anything being omnipotent to us, just as we are of nothing else. And you are correct, not all tribes were peaceful, but our wars only consisted of raids and stealing horses, not all-out warfare and destroying civilizations like the early Europeans.

  • @Starlightkitty12 That's what is said in the book I read, but who know I could be wrong. And yeah, that's what I meant when I was talking about wars.

  • my childhood movie!

  • I always smile at 1:33!

  • 1. Quit bitching about Disney. I love the old disney movies, but I move on with my life.

    2. Stop saying how, "Disney is making new kids selfish." Where the hell did that come from? And by now you should realize that your parents, or older siblings were saying the exact same thing about the movies and tv you loves, claiming that theirs was better.

    3. Read a book about the REAL Powatans.

    4. I love Pocahontas, and I listen to the music to bring back memories, not bitch to people on youtube.

  • thumbs up if this song gives you goosebumps for some odd reason

  • @timtheMC187 Who said that you have to worship Christ?

  • I'm Native American and the movie, though I hadn't seen it many times, was a huge part of my childhood. I thought I was Pocahontas <3

  • @AllyxJo Tahnk you so much for being politically and morally correct to use the term Native American instead of Indian like so many ignorant people.

  • Such a good opening scene

  • man whjen i was little i tried to jump like pocahontas into my pool from about a 3 foot jump into the water and i ended up doing a belly flop....

  • i wish that europeans would have been more open minded and treated the natives with the respect they deserved. americas for the win!

  • I'm curious, what are they saying in the opening chant?

  • @Trinity4h "Hega Hega Yam-pi-ye-hega, Yam-pi-ye-he he hega". Unfortunately I don't know what this means lol

  • @BecauseAlexWasBored

    Thanks, have a great day!

  • People, people. You don't need to be Native American, Mi`kmaq... Acadian, Anishinaabe or Haudenosaunee and born back then when the lived in the forests. Girls AND Boys can both experience this time TODAY.

    Remember that <3

  • @askAradia Sadly, not alot would like to.

  • This Movie Made Me Want To Be Full Native American. I'm Already Part Haha :D

  • this is my favorite disney movie

  • Looking back at it, I'm mostly of mandan hidatsa descent with lakota, but when I was little I never wanted to watch this movie.

Mostly because it reminded me of everything in history class over and over again. Except things didn't turn out so well like it did here.

Now ten years later I'm glad that Disney did something positive with my heritage. Just look around and you can find so many racist things teaching children to hate or be afraid of Native Americans.

  • BOO! XD Native Americans never "procrastinated" They simply, relaxed :)

  • i forgot this was just a clip of the song i go so into it when it ended i was like "wha? what did i hit that made it stop?!" xD

  • I myself take pride in my Cherokee Native American ancestry and culture and can't wait to find out more about it.

    Love,

    Dancefreack16/Holly Marie Coeburn.

  • i like how native americans actually cared for the land.... unlike most humans now and days.....

  • This was a very pretty movie

  • @MickeyAnimations Like a boss.

  • I'm not ashamed to admit my very first crush was not, Aaron Carter, it was not some guy from NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, or even Dream Street. I was absolutely enthralled and obsessed with Kocoum!

  • wonder if indians gossiped back in the day

  • @satan163 trust me they did! becuz they do now hahhaaa

  • @ blakesmommy1020 me 2 im also pround 2 say tht im NATIVE AMERICAN or INDIAN which ever 1 u want 2 say an i love this movie an my culture

  • @BlakesMommy1020 me too i am proud to have a native American heritage and i love this movie and anything to do with native american

  • 47 people were born in 2000

  • Such a strong song!!

  • It's really sad what we've done to this country. The indians lived so peacefully, and were so humble. Then we came to America and took over their land for wealth. And now we find it hard to only live by necessities, because we're so materialistic these days. We could NEVER live like the indians use too.

  • @taymaylarae LOL. No. The Indians were not peaceful. And they harmed the land for farming just like the people who colonized America did. It's not like the colonies of America shipped over the idea of corruption and greed, either.

  • @taymaylarae i agree. they were way more peaceful than our ancestors were. our ancestors brought over disease and murdered them for land. the native americans had no understanding of "owning" land. they were fine by themselves before everyone came over trying to hurt them and take. but itd be fun to try to live like they did, although we are not as in tune with nature, we could learn in time

  • @thenaughty001 They were not peaceful. No race was peaceful. I've read many books on Pocahontas, and the Powatans sacrficed children to their Gods. I have respect for all cultures, including Native American, but still, they were not peaceful like Disney portrays them, and not all colonists were materialsistic like in this movie.

  • @thepuppyandpanda They were more peaceful than most colonists. Not every colonist was greedy and uncaring, but many were, enough to make a difference.

  • @thenaughty001 Right, that's what I meant to say : )

  • @taymaylarae

You know them being "peaceful" is a whitewash right? Granted, what the Europeans did was pure douche baggery; but these people were absolutely NOT peaceful.

What you didn't see in Pocahontas was Powhatan already at war with the Iroquois and his half brother Opechancanough leading constant raids against the Jamestown colonists.

  • @gargarensi Hence where he was arriving home from. No, they were not a peaceful people but what race of humankind was? Take a look at history and you'll see what I mean. As for the raids; if you were the native of some land and strangers came to take it over, you'd want to do something about it wouldn't you? So no the natives weren't perfect little angels, they were human. Disney paints things in a pretty light so it's pleasant and enjoyable for children - so no it's not historically accurate

  • @TopazLove1901 Right at the beginning of the movie where the Natives are introduced, the chief mentions that they had been warring with another tribe, so at least Disney throws in there that they had their own domestic issues as well, hehe.

  • 1:32

That gets me every time! That's so cute >.<

  • thumbs up if this movie made you want to be native american when you were younger!

  • @AllyxJo

It STILL makes me wish I was Native American!!!

  • @AllyxJo

It made me happy to be a Navajo! (Native American) :)

  • @AllyxJo

It made me happy to be a Navajo! (Native American) :)
