  • Canadian Oilsands account for 0.01% of the total Greenhouse Gas Emissions.... Canada accounts for 2% of GHG..

  • FUCK YOU ALBERTA

  • I d also like to mention that the oil sands is not a Canadian project at the base. Its all American funds that lead to build all this . Alberta only stamped approved on the documents, in the idea that it would bring work for canadians. But lets blame Canada for it... Canada is like a fidel dog for the glorious nation of USA. Ahah !

Its weird how everybody forgot about the oil spill, the one that lasted months in the Gulf of Mexico. Oil Sands are dirty lets keep drilling in the sea, much safer

  • I do not approve oil sands impact on nature but it pays my bills. Doesnt mean that I drive a V8 diesel big rig truck... I drive a 4 cylinders and I will most of the time take the bus if its practical. I turn off the light when I leave a room. I do not let the water run while brushing my teeth .. Im very careful not to waste. I ll install solar panels when my debts are paid off. These oil companies hold us by the nuts. You like it or not its reality. Do your best not to be dependant of them.

  • This video paints a pretty bad picture of the Oilsands and Alberta. To bad most of it is not true but I am sure it creates a negative image good enough to be believed by those too lazy to find out the facts.

  • Im an albertan. Ive been up north. Yes the tar sands are pretty wide spread (though i doubt as far spread as the size of england...). But having studied petrol-chemical engineering I can tell you that the bit about it creating more greenhouse gas than traditional oil is horse shit. Alberta is an amazing province in an amazing country. If you still have a problem with the oil sands, stop bitching and start working on a solution.

  • all you mother fuckers hatin on canada can go fuck yourselves, without the oil sands you fucking americans wouldnt have fuck all!!!!! face facts we produce more oil for the world then ur dumbasses ever fucking could!!! and btw thos pics are probly from the fucking states, cuzz alberta dont look like that bitches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its a better place to live than whereever the fuck u are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dylamarr

    I AGREE

  • @dylamarr Americans and myself are telling fuck you, you and your fellow redneck Albertans

  • This video is filled with some serious fear mongering, not to mention unsubstantiated claims. An area the size on England? Over 130,000 square km? Thats an obscene statement, considering Alberta only has slightly over 600,000 square km anyway. In truth, the oil sands occupies about 550 square km, not including 65km of reclaimed land. In addition, the air quality is substantially better than that of los angeles, all the time. I think the points @abacad034 makes are bang on, this vid is extreme...

  • One again Rethink uses graphic images and partial truths if we wanted to put bird deaths as a reason then lets count the piles of birds under the wind power generators

If rethink was really about saving the environment they would be all over the USA coal generated power which dumps 1800 million tons of CO@ per year in to the atmosphere and still growing.... But I know that is not your target only the oil that would help the USA get off the middle east tit just whop is paying for your slander

  • I was thinking of visiting Canada but after watching this video and others on this subject it now is the last place on earth I would visit.!

  • Because NOT visiting Alberta, solves the problem. Good one guys...Really.

  • hey everyone come to alberta its awsome we shoot hippies on sight . go vancouver.

  • hey everyone come to alberta its awsome we shoot hippies on sight . go vancouver.

  • JOIN THE FACEBOOK GROUP

    "STOP THE OIL INDUSTRY "

IT'S TIME PEOPLE WAKE UP TO THIS REALITY WE CALL THE SYSTEM

  • @Masterfilm15 your probbly the same person who bitches about the gas prices too and everything else with high prices, by shutting down the oil sands the Canadian Economy will fold in its self. do me a favor shut the hell up

  • you guys are alll nuts this vid lies i know i live and work hear

  • @kerrmy1 are you brainwashed by stupid canadian goverment?:S Canada is destroying the earth...

  • @Prups stupid canadian government ?not realy bud they do alot for us more than yours oh yeah and we do not have all the social problems like your country does. why? our government . is there a place other than alberta with a carborn credit program in place? no ... ours is and it works. we work every day on solution to clean up and capture carbon. we have clean air. do you ? la has more cars than all of canada think about it the us pollutes more than any other place in the world .well no china .

  • @Prups do you drive? oil sent from canada is closer than from the mid east i wonder how much fuel it takes to ship that over ?

  • @kerrmy1 what facts do you believe are being misrepresented in this video? are you denying the existence of the 42,000 acres of toxic tailings ponds? or disputing the fact that the area affected is larger than the size of england? or perhaps you disagree that poisonous particulates spewed from the industrial activity has any correlation with dead or dieing wildlife or rare cancers of many residents downstream in fort chipewyan? to say, "i live and work hear [sic]", is not a convincing refutation

  • If you really think not going to Alberta for a vacation is really going to hurt the oil company, it's not. Not buying oil products will hurt them.

  • @PiratesoftheNorth78 the point of not visiting alberta is to make the Alberta government rethink the regulations on the Tar Sands

  • I'm a CANADIAN and I think Alberta is evil for tolerating and allowing the tar sands to do so much damage. Every day THEY (Tar Sands Industries) pollute as much as every home, business, and vehicle in the country COMBINED. What's even worse is the rate at which THEY are expanding operations, and increasing this unnecessary pollution. It is truly spitting in the face of our children's future, and their children's future..........BAN, BOYCOTT, or STOP THE TAR SANDS!!!!!!

  • This is an uninformed and naive world view. Get a grip. If you think not visiting Alberta's tourism hotspots is going to impact the oil industry, think again.

  • This is an uninformed and naive world view. Get a grip. If you think not visiting Alberta's tourism hotspots is going to impact the oil industry, think again.

  • hey um alberta, richest province, best province, best place to live in the world :)

  • And make sure to add Dick Reems as a friend (Me)

  • These eco-clowns are still spewing their dribble?!? We really need to rid the planet of these non-working, pot smoking, cousin fucking, wastes of skin.

  • I heard a lot of hypothetical statistics used in this. Maybe these idiots should actually come up here and see first hand what's going on. I work in Fort McMurray and it's not perfect but I'll tell you it's leading the world in technology and getting better everyday. I suppose Nigerian oil is a great substitute where it's slave labor that runs it?

  • @Kapurdy im with ya on that mate my family works there and i live in athabasca and i go to fort mac all the time people are going on how bad it is when it is helping them....they should stop complaining because they would be devistated if they didnt use the products created by the companys up north

  • @spencerbeveridge I hope everyone on this page who doesn't support this bullshit joins the Rethink Alberta's page on Facebook. Please come and help knock these American idiots from bashing our province.

  • Pay attention. This is not a joke. Speak up now before its too late. Write your Member of Parliament to raise the issue in the House of Commons. Lobby the oil and gas companies to expand to green energy sources like solar, and wind. STOP THE DESTRUCTION OF OUR BEAUTIFUL LAND AND WILDLIFE!

  • PEOPLE DON'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE ALBERTA OIL SANDS CAN EXIST WITH LESS ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT THEN THEY ARE CAUSING TODAY. THE GOVERNMENT FOR WHATEVER REASON HAS MISMANAGED OUR DEAR LAND AND DONE A POOR JOB OF REGULATING THE OPERATION OF EXTRACTING OIL. THERE IS TECHNOLOGY AVAILABLE AND RESEARCH DONE TO REDUCE EMISSIONS........ OUR GOVERNMENT SUCKS, BECAUSE IT IS LED MY DOGHNUT EATING GOLF PLAYING PUPPET!!!!!!!!!!!! **** deeeeeep breath****

  • this is pretty silly. produced by people who don't know what they're talking about. Obviously noone supporting this has ever been to Fort Mac. But if you must rethink Alberta, please, invest in the Saskatchewan Tar Sands!

  • The TRUTH is Harper and his high school buddies have removed the laws preventing this type of thing from happening in Canada, and then have created the planet's dirtiest method of producing oil, NOT to provide fuel for Canadians, NO, They are of course exporting it to the Americans' and their unquenchable thirst, for profits that go into THEIR pockets, while EVERYBODY else, their children, and thier grandchildren, etc..... pay for it, and someday, its cleanup. MORONS!!! enjoy your dividend

  • this is sad, true, and brilliant

  • this is sad, true, and brilliant

  • I really hate this video, but greatly love canada.

  • To Sandor's class.. srsly you guys,, everyones arguing over the tarsands and we're all MR SANDOR SENT ME HERE.

  • @shaunevans420 what? wanna explain that one?

  • @zearsocom Block 1-1 FTW :O

  • @erictuisawsum screw u eric this is peter here sayin block 1-4 is da sHIEET

  • @zearsocom same here...have to do this for tmr class..

  • @zearsocom I trust your teacher also sent you to other videos that give alternate perspectives?? or trying to demonstrate bias?

  • @rebelyell1983x He sent us this as a part of a project about enviromental impact.

  • you think were doing such a bad job up here search `Reclamation of industrial sites in Alberta's oil sands`we put 1.4 barrels of oil in the u.s. every day so how how about you stfu, you ungrateful country! how about we stop supplying you with oi!l stop trashing Alberta...stop trashing Canada period!

  • This makes no sense...

Who buys the oil we make? The rest of the world?

Why are you attacking us, when you buy the things we make?

And, uh, the comment about driving two blocks away to the bar, YOU try to walk two blocks in -40C weather. We pollute the most not because of our Tarsands, but our dependence on gas to heat our homes, BECAUSE WE NEED TO SURVIVE IN THE HARSH CLIMATE WE DO. Ignorance. Ignorance EVERYWHERE.

  • @AUsedTampon umm... cause we need to survive in the harsh climate we do? What the fuck do you think people did before we used gas to heat our homes? clearly they didn't die. Put on a sweater you ass. Our obsessive need for excess as a society is what has resulted in these tar sands and the constant need for more, more, more. And the tar sands ARE what is causing us to pollute the most. Ignorance. Ignorance EVERYWHERE.

  • This makes no sense...

Who buys the oil we make? The rest of the world?

Why are you attacking us, when you buy the things we make?

  • As a human, Canadian, and photographer I find the tar sands the single most disturbing fact about Canada.

  • feeling guilty alberta? well you should be, per capita, you pollute more than the U.S., China, AND India combined!!!!!!!! I'm sure you have an excuse for that though too, better just pray to jesus and drive your 1ton pickup to the bar two blocks away, that'll cure the guilt.....

  • @Sidepocket939393

how about you shut your mouth there are so many things wrong with you i dont know where to start first of all you cant blame every Albertan its not like we all work in the oil sands why are you so ignorant narrow minded and have such bigotry are you that ungrateful to your mother as well dam if i was your mother i would beet your ass second we actually clean up disasters when they start unlike the u.s. when they wait till 2 years later

  • @Sidepocket939393 third we only polute a smal area not a country

  • Alberta, and effectively Canada has removed all forms of investigation with regards to impacts on health of wildlife, nearby human populations, social and environmental impacts, and the like. There are no longer ANY hurdles in the way of the Tar Sands and production is not only increasing daily, but the feds have made committments to its growth for the next thirty years. Even the third world countries have impact studies when it comes to these types of things, but Harper is an albertan

  • 254.4 million registered passenger vehicles in the United States according to a 2007 DOT study...never mind the impact of the planet to fuel all these cars, never mind the impact of the planet from the amount of carbon dioxide produced from 254.4 million American autos each and every day, never mind the impact of the planet from all the soap and car wax being added to the worlds water supply to keep all them American autos clean and shiny, rethink Alberta...or just RETHINK

  • get the REAL facts

    oilsands.alberta.ca

  • Fucking hippies.

  • Uhm thats a man made lake not a natural lake, they are not leaking thats intentional.

  • wow, coming from the country with the biggest oil spill, puhleasee .

you americans should start burning calories, rather than burning books .

  • My favorite thing about video comments is 90% of the people on either side are fucking idiots...

Treehuggers, this video is a little extreme.

Rednecks, Alberta is a shithole, almost everywhere else in Canada is cleaner.

  • I believe it is time to shut down the tar sands and repave society with a new era of clean energy that would both stimulate the economy and improve the lives of people in Alberta and the rest of the world.

  • Guy's travel to the Great Bear Rainforest in BC instead. That has a quater of the world's Temperate Rainforests. And it will show that Alberta government that we aint visting there until you fix the problem

  • @Tank1TC - The largest oil spill..... wow, okay yeah because a open pit mine is just as good as a natural habitat occupied by a flourishing ecosystem. We aren't cleaning it we are spreading the poisons throughout the ecosystem. The amount of water it takes to process this stuff alone is a tragedy.

  • @killerbandit

The olisands are naturally made. When they were discovered there was oil leaking into the Athabasca river from them. Human resourcefulness found away to recover the oil. Yes is don't look pretty, but this idea that all was good and clean before human intervention is a myth portrayed by environmentalist with their own agenda. People need to understand the facts, before they jump to conclusions.

I wish people would educate themselves about the truth.

  • @Tank1TC Yes there was natural leakage into the Athabasca river before mining started and despite what you may think us horrible environmentalists are well aware of that. The problem is that mining literally opens up the flood gates to contamination.

This sounds like the argument that came in the wake of the gulf oil spill over the summer, they too said that there is natural spillage so this isn't really a big deal.

  • u realise that we are making all this oil because you are demanding it? get out of our country if you dont want us doing this.

  • I'm not a wildlife expert, but I have seen many bears in Alberta, and never once one that looked like the bear at 0:20. What is that, and are these found IN Alberta, or is this a clip form a bear from elsewhere in the world, à la Government of Alberta with its Scottish beach in Northumberland, England's northernmost county which borders Scotland... In any case, the commercial is a low blow.

  • It's all bullshit...this global warming crap is all about scamming money from the public. Your day is coming you freaks.

    ALBERTA RULES!!

  • Silly people, those of you who want to re-think Alberta should do just that. Perhaps you should think about your energy dollar being spent in countries that use their huge profits to plan the build of nuclear weapons so they can drop one on your head. Maybe if that happens you will re-think your re-thinking. Think about it.

  • are u people retarded!, i live in alberta only a hour away from the sands and i dont "suffer" from the sands... and if we did shut down the sands all u enviormental retards who are against us will wonder why the prices of many of your things go up... because if u didnt know alberta is the US's main supplier of oil. our rivers are not gross, our air isnt smoggy. if you have ever been to alberta u would know it is a beautiful place to live, and all u envormental retards i bet have never been here.

  • @spencerbeveridge yep your right i live 20 minutes away and i drink from the water thats "so" poluted. I cant beleive how much bull shit was in this commercial.

  • @spencerbeveridge i live in calgary and i do think alot of global warming stuff is a scam and envormentalists seem to over hype. but everyone in this city and province is retarted and think there cowboys when they live in the city, like pull your heads out of your asses were NOT cowboys so we dont have to be at war with envormentalists. and alot of native people on reserves do suffer from cancers from the sands because they live off the land alot more then you

  • the tar sands are a great big "controlled" oil spill

  • Oilsands produce more GH gas than conv oil.

Yes, you got one fact straight. But why would companies invest tens of billions of dollars developing the oilands if conv oil was still viable?

It's funny that the same people protesting the oilsands are the same ones driving hummers getting 12 miles per gallon and driving the demand up even more.

Don't blame Alberta for the imaginary climate situation, the planet earth is a lot bigger than naive people realize and she handles her own affairs.

  • making this video on is plastic computer, using his plastic mouse, plastic pen for notes, putting his pen back into his plastic pen holder on his desk mostly also containing plastic. everything we use today comes from what they say is so bad, yet the poeple themselves are guilty of using the products that which they attack. so unless you live in a stick house, with nothing but a wood stove, and own only the deer skin clothes on your back that you killed yourself & ate..DON'T BE A HYPOCRITE!!!!

  • @mulisha911 i agree completly exept for the last part, i don't think it has to go to those extemes. i think that we should just be responsable. i mean there are ways of doing everything we do better, and realisticly the tec to completly replace all the harmful stuff we possess. and the retarded thing is we never will not till we have to. what im really sick of tho is everyone saying save the world save the animals, what they realy mean is save ourselves, walking like there shit dont stink baaa

  • @kingneary the other thing people need to understand is the oilsand has been there for millions of years, naturally polluting the area because it is everywhere. its not like it was hauled there and dumped next to the athabasca river, it was already there. the other thing you guys need to remember is this is a video made out of europe, and i highly doubt they have ever even been to norther alberta, which is funny cuz their video footage is from the rocky's, not near the oilsands at all.....

  • @kingneary and the picture of the duck in oil is a ocean oil spill film stock, no tailings pond in alberta looks like a toxic waste pool with thick floating oil slicks on top, ahh their in the business to get oil, not dump it into a tailings pond, that would prove to be not very profitable and a waste of the very resource that they are producing.

  • @mulisha911 ya i know im not disagreeing with any of that nor am i taking the side of the vidoe makers, i think its horrible propoganda, but because i strongly disagree on these videos doesn't mean i agree with the big oil companys they are terrable too,

  • @kingneary Not all of them but people need to remember that the oilsand was already there, and for millions of years naturally polluting the water and the area. Thats all I'm trying to say. These are in no comparison to the off shore oil rigs that pollute millions of gallons of ocean water.

  • @mulisha911 Wood stoves also emit carbon dioxide. And these protesters and activists keep breathing it out. Better they just kill themselves and save the planet!

  • @callisdad1 10-4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @mulisha911 even then, they're probably part of peta and would have to grow beans in a garden to make tofu.

  • Remember, the person/persons that made this video, did it from home on their pc (plastic made from oil), or from work where the drove (gas and oil) on tires (rubber, oil), probably wearing shoes (plastic labels, rubber soles, oil) and a tee shirt (polyester, plastic, made from oil), jeans and socks (cotton/denim using large diesel operated machines with large tires oil) to pick the cotton, spray it with liquid fertilizers, then sitting on his plastic chair that rolls around (oil) and......

  • how many people hunt and kill ducks, moose, deer....ect......Canada's economy depends on the oilsands as well the world, so until we no longer require plastics, oil, gasoline, diesel fuel, natural gas, methane, propane.....ect....and want to start riding horses and wearing animal skin for clothes and shoes, and give up all of our electroncics such as your computer and the screen your watching this on (90% plastic made from oil) perhaps visit the place and make your own opinion for yourself.

  • run off troughs, where the water runs down a trough and then can be dried out over a large flat area where dozers can help spread it out and dry it up, thus eliminating the need for the ponds. Secondly, there is not polution in the river, this video is edited to the extreme to convince you all of the exact opposite, THE TRUTH. All the companies work with and comply to green peace, and all government regualations.....the ducks were a freak incident were timing was the issue of the migration...

  • @mulisha911 There was a Freak Snow stomr in late april or early may i cant remeber the exact dates. We got over 3 feet of snow with 48 hours but the temperature was only -2 or -3 C*. The equipment used to scare ducks from landing on the ponds ( BIG sound cannons) were not able to be set up due to the snow sot he ducks landed on the hardly frozen ice. Was a total fluke another day and they would ahve been fine.

  • @Alcan196 I know I remember it.

  • This is so far from the truth it's not even funny, just to clear up the tailings ponds for all of you that don't know what they are....they are ponds of water used to seperate the oil from the sand, then pumped into a tailings pond which is water/clay, the clay particles are so small the they are suspended in the water, and takes hundreds even thousands of years to settle out so that there is just water. some of the companies have developed a way to eliminate these ponds, by having.....

  • Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

  • fuck this shit. alberta rules

  • Everyone should see this video. It's sad that a province is destroying itself just to get rich....

  • @classicklezmer you dont even know what your talking about

  • are the going to rethink Alberta when they or one of their loved ones need surgery at our world class Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute....or when they wuld benefit by research and breakthroughs achieved by the University of Alberta who are known to make breakthroughs in Science, health and disease including cancer...Alberta has so many great things to offer to this country and the World the Oil sands is just a small fraction of Alberta! Target the Oil Companies, not the hard working citizens

  • La planète est mourante et nous continuons à la détruire.

  • These people have been trying to apply pressure on Alberta by getting U.S companies to boycott oil sourced from the oil sands.

Its funny because basically every company that has decided to do it, starts to back peddle big time when they get the real facts and large portions of Canadians threaten to boycott the retailers boycotting the oilfields.

Funny thing is, where the hell else does the USA plan to get it from? Continue invading the Middle East for a trillion a year? Good luck with that.

  • Bullshit, Alberta is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Anyone who doubts it, come visit Banff or Jasper National Parks.

  • So I just want to say that I live in Alberta and its BEAUTIFUL, this video is complete horse shit to be honest. The whole of Alberta isn't like this. Alberta is all about the beauty of nature. We have Banff National Park, Lake Louise, Sylvan Lake, Pine Lake, Kananaskis Mountains, and a whole lot more so this video is a lie it shouldn't be called rethink Alberta. Also America is so full of it, I bet if Canada and the US weren't so close they would be at war trying to take our oil. Just saying.

  • I live in this province and it is beautiful, and what is being in Northern Alberta is a catastrophe. It needs to be stopped, but blame the politicians that allow it to happen, blame the companies that are raping the land. Don't blame the citizens of Alberta, there is a lot of us who do not agree what is being done to our province, do you believe that we like our land being polluted and our wildlife and people poisoned. WE DON"T BELIEVE ME!

  • This video has made me so made, not only is it not true, alberta is a beatufil placve to visit. As for the Corporate Ethics International who paid for this video what a joke you are, Bet half of you drive cars, fly to your important Ablerta bashing meetings, omfg, guess how they are powered, gas, guess where that gas comes from. Alberta. Stop driving and flying then you can open your mouth about Alberta and our oil sands.

  • espérons que l'exploitation de schiste au Québec ne se fasse pas, ou au moins de manière plus que responsable, afin d'éviter d'être mondialement stigmatisé par nos voisins les cowboys

  • This is the biggest sham of propaganda I have ever heard. The truth has been twisted so far out of proportion here it makes me sick.

  • man, not to mention Where do all of Alberta's pipelines go to?? (America) And Who is starting this anti-Alberta campaign? (American's, Californian's to be exact) ... And Which country burns more oil and wastes more shit than any country in the world? (_________) So why just target Alberta? What about the rest of the worlds atrocities. We should not be singling out just one of the messes.

  • This is hounestly the dumbest campain i have ever herd of because by destroying the industry that is responsable for the preservation of wildlife and nature in Alberta you are strengthining the people resonsable for its destruction. Its sad to say but money makes the world go around in the eyes of the men who control it. I say let them see the fortunes that can be made off its tourism, and they rely less on its indusrty.

  • As a born and bred Albertan, I can say that this video is complete bullshit. Let me tell you right now, Alberta, in general, nowhere near as bad as this video makes it out to be. I bet the campaign behind this video never spent more than a week in Alberta, because they would know that the oilsands are nowhere near the Rockies.

It's also completely unfair to the tourism industry, that has -nothing- to do with the oil industry.

You stupid bunch of fucks should hang yourselves.

  • Comment removed

  • Rethink California

  • I find it amusing that not so far away from where this video is made is bakersfield California heavy oilfield.... They run at an SOR three times as high as us in their operations... It's funny how they fail to mention anything about that ... Or the fact that the US has the most relaxed environmental regulations of all... Fucking douchebags

  • Oh please, I doubt these people would be complaining if they found Oil Sands in Texas, Montana, or Colorado. How about rethinking visiting southeast Asia, because according to these geniuses, you'll automatically be condoning sweat shops. If you visit Africa, you'd be endorsing the training of child soldiers. The worst has to be of course killing ducks. Killing ducks is apparently analogous to killing the hopes and dreams of America's children.

  • This video is stupid. Everybody uses an oil and we are running out of the conventional stuff. Alberta oil will not help fund terrorists and we should use more of it.

  • There is a place, full of wineries and beaches, called California... But behind all this is extreme crime, drug cartels and murdering... Rethink California.

  • Haha it's called the tar sands for a reason, and it was messy one million years ago and it'll be messy one million years from now. The tar sands are hundreds of miles in the middle of nowhere. And it's no worse then a regular industrial park in any city. People are still going to come to Alberta, just not to the oil sands, even though nobody went there anyways.

  • @NelixJones

i appreciate the groundless immature assumption that i'm a yank.

:) great arguments you've got there. i'm from montreal.

life's going to be rough if you continue taking everything so literally.

  • by attempting to destroy our tourism you are only making us rely more on oilsands and less on the cleanup.

  • I am proud to say that I am a worker up in Fort McMurray dedicated to cleaning up the worlds largest oil spill one shovel load at a time. Mother nature made the mess, and I, along with thousands of other people, are cleaning it up 24/7, 365.

  • @80K25 haha, nice one.

  • @80K25 what an ignorant thing to say. you are not cleaning up anything. you are taking a mess mother nature had contained and spreading it all over.

  • @hotpinkmullet and if the disaster called Keystone XL is allowed to pass, emission will increase by 82%, production 100 X. With a track record of 12 spills in 12 months, this is not the future I want. We are the change.

  • @80K25 Your logic is flawed. Just because mother nature does something it doesn't mean it is the standard for ethics. Volcanoes, earthquakes, and hurricanes kill people--does that mean it is ok to kill people? As humans, we are the last creatures who have the right to accuse mother nature of mistreatment. No creatures abused earth and its inhabitants (even toward each other) as much as humans have.

  • @80K25 What the fuck are you talking about? Does Mother Nature drive bulldozers and operate refineries? WARNING: You are clearly breathing some toxic fumes out there that are inhibiting you from thinking straight, as a medical doctor, I advise you to get the fuck out of the Tar Sands.

  • The oilsands cause ess pollution than a small city of 50,000. Do you think the 3 1/2 million Albertans would allow this if things were as bad as purported in this BS video.

  • @waynewin I wouldn't! I was part of the Oil and Gas sector for a few years, and trust me, I would not be happy if these so called "Facts" were true.

  • I live in Alberta and confirm that oilsands productions does cause some pollution but on scale so small I am having trouble understanding this video and all the fuss. The environmentalist should go after the real polluters such as BP in the Gulf, coal mines in the US and England and so on. This video is pure fiction. Why can't the environmentalist do some good for a change? By the way, CO2 production from the oilsands is 0/00002% of US coal mine pollution.

  • Yah im pretty sure that they're just gunna sugar coat the BP oil spill and focus on a minor part of the oil companies production.

Besides, its only a small part of Alberta and its up to the oil companies to take care of the tar sands. That and im from Alberta and I gotta say this is Bullshit.

  • well isnt that a one sided view, try looking up suncores reclamation of land already processed, not much of an enviromental impact, but i guess these people would never show that. Maybe they could also mention most new oil sands developement is SAGD and leaves minimul impact on the land, but when you have a political agenda you cant tell the TRUTH

  • This is probably just supporters of BP trying to make another place look worse than the BP oil spill... well sorry, but IT'S NOT WORKING!

  • My dying grandmother lives in Alberta BUT HEY OH I GUESS I'LL GO TO BAHAMAS!

  • 1. Northern alberta is waist lands anyways, 7 or even 8 months under snow basically

    2. The size of england? You got it all wrong is more under than around!

    3. 3.4 million gallons of posion in to our water? You think we would kill our sleves by doing that?

    4. Birds also die for a lot of other things, like cats, electricy lines.... windows? hit and run even air plains!

    5. Native suffer? Blame the reservation for the past 100 years, after their abuse! Plus native blood is sensative to alochol!

  • These ads don't make any sense to me. Isn't there a huge demand for oil across the world and especially in the United States? Do the people making these ads walk to work? I beat if other parts of the world had the same resources Alberta has they would be mining it too.

  • you guys are just fucking silly if you think alberta is ALL like this and if you want to "boycott" a piece of land.........sorry to break it to you but we don't bathe our babies in oil then rip out their hearts and sacrifice them to our pagan gods. honestly I'm sorry for any of you who are so fucking ignorant as to believe this scam, you deserve to be able to know better than what these people tell you.

  • @EzPzLemnSqueezy yer stoooopid

  • Boycott Alberta!

  • @JogBird Ur loss Alberta is way better then dirty uk

  • @noobdestroyer1223 I was out in Canmore for skiing last year and it was beautiful... Banff is beautiful as well. But, Tar Sands are Tar Sands. Maybe when the Tailing Ponds have decontaminated in 100,000 years they can turn it into a Park?

  • @JogBird

Suncor Energy has reclaimed its first tailings pond. 40 years. Technology has advanced so much they think they can reclaim a tailings pond in 3 years now.

Smoke some facts for a change.

This video is pure propaganda and the people that believe this are in the same league as the unfortunate Germans who believed Nazi propaganda in the 30"s. We know were that lead. I only can hope people educate themselves about the real facts before believing bullshit like this.

  • @Tank1TC reclaiming tailings ponds isn't going to do anything. The damage from them has already been done. Sure they can restore the land and plant some trees on top but the effect on the environment has had 40 years to take place. This video is not bullshit. It may be an extremist point of view but you can't deny that it has some validity. The fact of the matter is no one can really know the long term effects of something like this cause it hasn't been long term yet.

  • the video obviously is vaguely informed about the oilsands. first, the position on the ALberta map was too far West, second, its called the OILSANDS, of course the natives are suffering heart problems ITS CALLED ALCOHOL POISONING, they use a new method where they inject steam into the ground. it can be used to collect the oil with no surface destruction, and no need for tailing ponds.

  • @cclbrules Its called TAR SANDS.. the whole movement towards "oil sands" was a PR stunt done to make it sound cleaner than what is really is.. which is literally sand with TAR.. not oil. The Gulf Coast beaches that are covered with BP oil.. now that is OIL SANDS.

  • All I know is that an area the size of England has been turned into hell on earth, there is no excuse for it, and to stand by and watch it happen to your beautiful land is unforgivable. And all for profit for the oil companies.

  • @nacho1560 Are you friggen crazy. The size of england comparrison is not even relatively close. The area they talk about in the video is actually 0.13% the size of england. The entire oilsands deposit is roughly the size of england. Bu only an extremely small portion of that deposit is being accessed. The strip mining at the big suncor and syncrude plants is only possible there. Most of the oil is too deep to do this. SAGD processes are used for the deeper stuff. much smaller footprint.

  • @nacho1560 sir, how would you like it if a private company began bashing your homeland with false information, in an attempt to wreck its tourist economy? read about the actual facts.

  • @nacho1560 you ever been here and looked around, doubt it. What you beleive right now is from propoganda idiot.

  • For all you Americans who think Alberta is bad with oil, look at yourselves, the B.P oil spill just leaked billions of gallons of oil into the ocean. Much worse than what Alberta has ever done or will do. So please do us all a favor and shutup!

  • @dannymansoccer Two wrongs make a right then? You just made a good argument against all oil.

  • @Sc0rPsX

No no, I'm just pointing out that Alberta is not the only place that has had some oil troubles. Also that people who are from the United States who are complaining about Alberta to look at what just happpened in the USA....

  • @dannymansoccer exactly well said, Also might i add the BP oil spill was in the OCEAN Albertas oil fields are on LAND see the difference on the impact of the environment locally instead of globally?

  • i love alberta it is my fave place to go 2 in canada i lived ther half my life.

the usa goverment r the people who buy all the oil dont blame alberta blame the usa.dont tell ppl not to go 2 alberta if they want 2 go dont try to stop them my parents say that u r crazy if u dont want to go 2 alberta.

  • Why is it so wrong for those outside Canada to care about the environmental mess you guys are making in Alberta? Instead of making excuses for your government speak out against it.

  • @nacho1560 you are totally missing the entire reason most are pissed. Are the oilsands a clean source of energy? Nope. the facts in this video are very false and misleading, that is where I get pissed. Lies are for the gullible. They fail to mention the great strides that have been taken already. These companies are pumping billions into research. Check out Suncor's page on u-tube. You will see the projects they are working on.

  • Exactly the reason I refuse to visit the USA.

The dumbfucks who made that piece of shit are crusaders who don't realize that they're making they're own country look bad.

Most of our oil goes straight down south to feed their hummers and escalades.

The most annoying person in the world is the one who complains constantly, but never offers any solutions.

People of the USA, stop these nutjobs, please! They're driving us crazy!

  • @nacho1560 the only reason u american scum actually care is because u have nothing better to do except drink beer and watch NASCAR. the only reason u hate us is because ur jealous

  • @flyXairXbourne I beg your pardon flyX, me, American? You gotta be joking. I do drink beer, though.

  • This organization including British and American people have no right to pick at Alberta for the oil sands. As far as im concerned rigging oil from land is not near as bad as an environmentally disaster as what happens rigging on the ocean. The gulf is a prime example look what its done to the world ocean compared to a small area on land? seriously.. this is nonsense
