  • That was really cool of the Whose Line cast to bring out a B-day cake and sing Happy B-day to Mr. Caesar.

  • @armenianesh818 yeah, that was really nice and pretty emotive.

  • I speak German, and his gibberish was pretty spot on. Although, having taken a few years of Japanese, his was pretty terrible, not even close.

  • @greydaze234 I guess he intentionally went for faux chinese. :)

  • Never have I been wowed by someone who can talk utter gibberish as I am now,

  • Who gives a crap about French? Russian is better. :D All the French do is run way from things.

  • Sid Caesar's French accent when he's speaking gibberish is better than most Americans when they're speaking actual French.

  • What he does is use his phenomenal memory for words and stream an effortless series of words and phrases. If you can get the proper pronunciation and not stutter, all you have to do is stay 1 or 2 words ahead of your mouth.

  • His Japanese sounded like chinese...

  • @theblumanta yea and his platinum toilet probably looks like a silver toilet.

  • Ladies and gentlemen, Sid Caesar, the only person in the history of Whose Line to make someone else CONCEDE a game.

  • Trust me. I speak Français. I know he doesn't, so it was a good indication for the rest of the langauges...

  • Sid has such beautiful music in his language.

  • @jaymeeharkeen Actually all he's doing is jiberish while throwing a few french words here and there

  • He's actually speaking French in the beginning.

  • Oh my god! Sid Caesar! He Looks amazing!

  • I'm Russian. He actually started with real Russian words, threw in some nonsensical sounds, and a couple other real words. I'm impressed, it really sounded Russian (except for the nonsensical part). The same for French, he threw in some real french and some nonsensical sounds.

  • Poor Drew that was hard for him.. :D

  • I am quite young but i totally perfer Cid and the Reiners comedy over most recent "comedians"

  • his French is flawed xD but its K its Cid

  • To anyone who enjoys television comedy, you are looking at one of the most brilliant and comedic pioneers of the medium when you watch Sid Caesar. If you don't know who he is, then Google him and you'll discover just how legendary he is. Just because you don't know who he might be doesn't mean he's not worth learning about because the man is HUGELY responsible for shaping the direction of tv comedy.

Caesar was a masterful pro as an entertainer. Most jokers now couldn't do what he did. Go, SId!

  • Just saw this episode last night and thought this part was so funny! xD go Sid Caesar!

  • so is he really talking and making sentances or is it just random words put together? and if it is sentences translations please :)

  • @UsaChan909 I'm Austrian and a native german speaker. A lot of words he uses are actual german, but he says random words in a row which don't make real sense most of the time. At the end of his german part he says "...and up there he stands, and Poland and Czechoslovakia...".

Regarding japanese: The first sentence Caesar says has an actual japanese word at the end - "deshou". But I guess he used random words/made "japanese sounds" again.

  • @UsaChan909 It's mostly random words and sounds with a little bit of the actual language thrown in to help make it sound right. For Caesar, it's really all about getting the general sound and rhythm of the language right. Each language has it's own cadence and accent. That's why French sounds like French and Japanese sounds like Japanese. He then throws in an English word or phrase to give the punchline. He did the same thing on his variety shows when he was in his prime.

  • Lol, for the French he was good at first until he made it obvious that he was saying random shit, and the Japanese he totally butchered and was doing some Chinese impersonation in there lol, and Drew...oh geez.....otherwise I was pretty impressed lol.

  • I just watched this on tv. Frikin awesome! The Japanese part was sooo cool! XD

Thank you samvithvrao for posting this.

  • @matatosuke3791 lmao i just watched this on tv too :P thats the reason im here haha. Caesars amazing!

  • One of the funniest men in the history of television. This is a really fantastic tribute.

  • what a grandeur of a man.... dashing in his old age.... mwwaacchh

  • omgosh i think Colin's a fan of him or something. that part was cute how he laughed 2:49. LOL Drew's japanese thing! im with Colin on that one! 4:32

  • None NONE of these guys are in Sid's league.

  • @doddsino Hence why they admire him... Or at least Drew does.

  • "Kawasakiii."

    LOL

  • Wow he is amazing.

  • I'm really relieved by the fact that such a wonderful veteran actor like Sid Caesar is still respected by a legion of fans

  • Never heard of him before I watched this episode...

  • I worship the ground Sid Caesar walks on. He is truly inspirational.

  • god bless sid... hes amazing!

  • Sid is really awesome!

  • I think he knows words from those languages, but isnt saying them in a correct manner. He would be saying it like "Im telephone running escargo poptart garlic husky dog" :P

  • I'm not too sure, but this might be the only Foreign Film Dub that didn't completely veer off the starting story line.

  • Poor Colin is soo nervous lol. But he made Caesar laugh!!!

  • when was this?? any one know?

  • @Sbazz89 1998-99 around there.

  • @Cavillier1970 no 2003 was when this episode was shot

  • @Sbazz89 2003

was when this episode was shot

  • @Sbazz89 21 nov 2001

  • @denny727 thank you

  • Wow, I feel so sorry for Drew in this, he's so far out of his depth with Sid Caesar on here.

  • @paintballwizard239 Oh hell, this was on the job training for the five of them.

  • Bahaha!!!! KOWASAKI!!!:)

  • Man, I wish there was an actually translation to what he talked about

  • @kmorm his japanese wasnt japanese at least (i have learned very little..), german i am not sure, it made no sense..... but his french seemd ok.. though i both studied numerous years and did not understand a lick of it so he might of just had a good accent..... as for the russian.. i have no idea hahaha never learned that one... but the video desrip says he doesnt speak the languages so... meh

  • @kmorm Caesar was born in Yonkers, New York, to Jewish immigrants from the Russian Empire who ran a restaurant. Caesar would wait on tables and learned to mimic the accents, something he would use throughout his career. He first tried his double-talk with a group of Italians,

  • @kmorm his head barely reaching above the table. They enjoyed it so much that sent him over to a group of Poles to repeat it in Polish, and so on with Russians, Hungarians, Frenchmen, Spaniards, Lithuanians, and Bulgarians. Despite his apparent fluency in many languages, Caesar can actually speak only English and Yiddish.

  • Happy Birthday dear Caesar (a true legend)

  • hey its coach calhoun from the movie grease

  • I would have loved to hear him do Yiddish

  • Sid caesar is amazing and so funny

  • Wow! When he first came on I thought, 'He looks a bit old to be much good at this'. Only goes to show that appearances aren't everything! He was flippin' fantastic! And it's really sweet how the cast, specially Ryan, seem really thrilled and trying to impress him. Aah!

  • @Goodyfan17 The fact that he's old just means he's had much practice =P

  • If anyone is a fan of this clip I urge you to look up videos with Sid Caeser. The man is brilliant and very funny. Remember that comedy is often timeless!

  • If anyone is a fan of this clip I urge you to look up videos with Sid Caeser. The man is brilliant and very funny.

  • Ithought he was actually speaking all those languages. He's brilliant

  • @douchebagcrew9 he kind of was, about every fourth word was real, another fourth was mutations of real words, and the rest was fake but using the same grammar. The Russian was full of reflexives for example.

I can do this with German but not that well.

  • french is very poor

  • lol Drew somehow slipped into a Japanese accent -- he was *so* outclassed here. :P

  • I'm French and I confirm they really are talking gibberish at the beginning, Sid Caesar is only saying "Nos enfants de la partie" at a moment :P

  • To the guy who posted the video...

he actually DOES speak those languages.....!!!

  • 17 people don't know real talent!!!

  • Hahahaha this is damn cool. Though I do giggle at how Chinese his Japanese sounds...xD

  • i really wanna know what he is actually saying? probably food

  • drew carey has NEVER been funny. it irritates me when he joins in for irish drinking song or any other segment for dat matter. he just spoils evrythg he participates in. and the old-timer sid caesar made him look like an ass! good job Pops!

  • This is amazing! I also noticed that Colin seems almost nervous.....but I loved this, one of the best!!!!

  • sid broke into the french national anthem there for a second "les enfents de la patrie"

  • I don't think Sid is faking is he??

  • Sid Caesar was in fightin' shape to begin with, that's why he can last. I heard one time he punched out a horse. A HORSE.

  • Good Lord. I saw Sid on TV about 13 years ago - I think it was on an Emmy Awards Show. I thought to myself that he looked terrible and would not last another month. When I went to work the next day, one of my co-workers opened the staff meeting with, "did anyone see Sid Ceasar on the Emmy's last night? He looked TERRIBLE!" Needless to say, I waited for the annoucement that Sid was dead. It NEVER CAME. God Bless this man. He's still kickin' and so enormously talented. Love him!

  • The Garlic Press. Nice

  • While watching this, Sid Caesar reminds me of The Most Interesting Man In The World from the Dos Equis commercials

  • @Rayla840 YES! such win. :D

  • this is epic!

  • I can't help trying to understand what he says, it sounds so convincing!

  • i could seriously believe he is is speaking all those languages, hes just that brilliant

  • Dudes for his Russian it sounds like REZNOV from BLACK OPS!

  • *gasp* its count dooko!!!!!!

  • @TheMrpotatoes1 Count Dooku is played by Christopher Lee.

  • @SaulAdamTJ1234 A classic comedian from way before your time.

  • As great as this cast is, Sid Caesar is the greatest comedian of all time.

  • Heeeey.. I´m from (Czecho) SLOVAKIA :)

  • its amazing how RYAN COLIN AND WAYNE <--- some of the greatest comedians ever, are bowing in respect to sid caesar. damn he must be a great guy

  • whose is this guy

  • @thechaserv97 a legendary vintage comedian

  • What a legend!

  • did sid really speak french??

  • lol drew is really bad at foreign language..

  • @cruzzo260

No. Just sounds/accents and the occasional french word. His German was actually a lot closer to the mark. Still gibberish though, but half a sentence here and there.

    Commendable gibberish nonetheless.

  • @cruzzo260 No, I speak French, and he only peppered a few french words in otherwise complete nonsense.

  • does anyone else think he looks like charles manson?

  • holy hell it Sid Ceasar!! Legend!

  • @TheRogueCowgirl whos him?

  • @invaderpink He was a HUGE television star in the 1950s. Possibly the greatest ab lib sketch comedian of all time. Google him.

  • KAWASAKI! XD

Sid Caesar was awesome, by the way. I thought he couldn't pull it off, but he did. Awesome!

  • Sid Caesar had a show back in the 50's known as " Your show of shows".It was a variety show with some of the biggest comedians of the day.Including Carl Reiner,"The Dick Van Dyke Show, yes Rob's dad,Howard Morris,AKA Ernest T. Bass from the "Andy Griffith Show",and Imogene Coca, and in later years,Nanette Fabray, the aunt of Shelley Fabares, who is married to Mike Farell of M*A*S*H* fame. Thanks for posting this video.I hope this info was useful.

  • who is sid ceaser actually? never heard before..

  • O_o

  • haha Sid came in all old and stuff, and then he totally went off! what a genius!

  • That didn't really sound very japanese to me... but that's just me.

  • Pure genius!

  • one word....PWNED

  • Wow! What an amazing man! I swear it sounded like he was fluent in every language he was speaking in that scene! Thats so sweet how everyone sang happy birthday to him! :)

  • Sid Caesar even at such an advanced age proved he still owns the media and was able to entertain the audience and fellow show mates in such a way that it was obvious they were in awe and working with a legend. Sid still has it...

  • Colin managed to make Sid Caesar crack :)

  • Indeed!

    Garlic press!

  • @omarelsewefy Of course, Colin can do anything.

  • i think sid caesar is giving snail recipes

  • @ThatSoRandom100 gee that was so Random :P nt really lol

  • That was incredible!

  • Wow, a real star on Whose line!!! lol

  • Wow I didn't even realize he didn't really Speke those languages until the end! Jeeze he's good!!

  • Hahahaha i keep saying Happy Bday wen all of the cast said happy bday lol

  • Damn!! That's really good!! Caesar is really good!!

  • man Sid makes it sound like he's just come back from living in each of those countries after years! Great joke linguistics work

  • Sid Caesar is so great at faking languages XDD You know he isint actually talking the language, when he slips in some english words that sound the language XDD

  • Do you see how eager colin is too make Sid Ceasar impressed? xD

He looks like he just met his idol!

  • An absolute comedic genius!

  • "Only horses and cows- Don't ask me why." Colin's awesome at this game sometimes.

  • YAY SID CEASAR!!!

  • i think im still stuck in the french thing.. hahahaha

  • Sid Caesar really is brilliant at this game. I don't think I've ever seen someone completely own a game like this

  • Is he still alive?

  • yes!

  • @musicsonggal101 I think he was in toy Story 3.

  • 4:11 HONDA AND TOYOTA

  • his french isnt even close i know IM a frenchman

  • Who the fuck is sid seaser and who is the guy who took alans place as host?

  • @iWaffulz Who the hell is Alan?!

  • @iWaffulz This is the American Version of Whose Line is It Anyway, hence all the American accents. Sid Caesar is (he's still alive) a famous writer and actor in the United States who did a lot of fake speaking in foreign languages with pitch perfect accents during his career.

  • @wibblesish Oh, yeah we had ryan and colin on the british version ( and colin is canadian! ) lol

  • Sid Caesar has a fear of haircuts.

  • I would lay odds that at least 1/2 the audience had no idea who Sid Caesar is, which makes the camping funnier

  • LOL

    (Fakes Russian) That's some borscht.

"I want you to go up to the giant snail now, look him straight in the eyes and make a soup reference."

  • Apparently this was September, 2001 around his 79th birthday.

  • his Japanese was a little fail but the other 3 languages were Amazing

  • I think he's actually speaking French

  • @JAISE1994 : no he ISNT i KNOW im french(man)

  • I LOVE Collin's interpretation very entertianing!

  • ... who?

  • @stick1903

Let me put it in terms you'd understand. Sid Caeser is to comedy what Miley Cyrus is to music. Only picture Miley as the dog crap on the bottom of his shoe.

  • @ctwomey miley is dog crap on anyones shoe. my god!

he wasnt very funny, i found this clip boring

  • @stick1903

Yeah, I see what you mean. Without the requisite f*ck and sh*t, it ain't funny. Word up, bro!

  • @stick1903

It isn't funny to you probably cause Sid does very good fabrications of accents, while usually it's fun to laugh at how the guys fail to do accents. The funny parts are that Drew's getting shown up, like usual, and the interpretations, especially Colin's.

  • @KHSlider i liked that harry hill guy off britains got talent

  • This had to be such an honor for the Whose Line gang..Sid is reason that shows like this even exist.

  • why does drew stick himself in the games? he's a terrible HACK

  • @dontleademsomuch Seriously! He should asked one of the others to do the part for him.

  • @dontleademsomuch If what I heard is true, it's because ABC wanted him in the games. It wasn't his idea.

  • @dontleademsomuch i agree. he's rarely funny, even as a host.

  • @dontleademsomuch That's the entire point.

  • This is just incredible.

  • wow, awesome

  • sid did pretty well with the languages, not accurate but pretty damn good, bravo!

  • Sid was really getting into it at the end. Good for him :)

  • sid ceasar = genius

  • Haha, this is hilarious!!!!!!!! Love how they both fake the languages!!

  • Ha! this one was awsome! Sid caesar owned them all XD

  • OMG Drew sucks at faking languages XD

  • He is the father of lunatic humor, and still the best.

  • Cid Caesar sounds like someone very important. (Please dont kill me for asking this) but what did he do to get famous? Im not very familiar with him.

  • @Saikex- Sid Caesar is the OG of American television and American humor, and along with such stars Milton Berle and Bob Hope belongs to the "Golden Age of TV". His "Your Show of Shows" and later "Caesars Hour" ran on NBC in the fifties, and had a slew of talented writers and perfomers like Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Neil Simon, Mel Tolkin, Howard Morris, Bill Hayes, Larry Gelbart, and Woody Allen, & influenced so many shows like Dick van Dyke Show and SNL. Drew, Colin, and Ryan are filled with awe

  • I like Caesar but i think he talks too long

  • @joeyayoub he sounded like he was speaking it.

  • his french is VERY bad trust me i AM one.

  • Drew makes himself look like an asshat in this one. :(
