  • I LOVE IT! This is the most exciting finish to a Super Password bonus round I've ever seen. Who can't be thrilled for the contestant? This is classic!

  • Wow monocle ate crazy time off the clock but she made it up.

  • She said it JUST AS the clock struck 0. It's a win.

  • @weatherdan882002 actually to get technical it was about 0.43 seconds before she answered but right as it struck will do. :D

  • Well done one of many close ones!

  • wow they made this show a lot harder now compared to back in the old days

on the new show, they have more strict rules on the clue hinting.

  • @rack12321rack Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of the "one clue followed by one answer" rule.

  • She said it right as that the clock beep sound effect was made... so I would consider that a buzzer-beater.

  • @rickhh1 was it a swoosh?

  • Usually most rules regarding time, they refer to the buzzer as to whether they win or not, like in Pyramid so I assume the same here. Whether or not she beat the visual clock she certainly beat the buzz. Plus, just because it says 00 doesn't mean its really 0, like on a basketball clock they could still be time left on 00 like 00.8 seconds and at 00.0 the buzzer sounds.

  • this one she made no buzzer clock was at 00 but a half a second later the buzzer would sound...

  • There is a delay between video and then audio. She says the word right at zero (watch her mouth) and then you hear it after the fact which makes you think it is too late.

  • I don't give a flip about whether it hit zero or not----MONOCLE??? you've got to be kiddin me! She should've gotten an extra 5 seconds for getting that rediculous word. I know the words have to be challenging, but c'mon! She should've gotten an extra 5 grand for pullin that word out of her you-know-what!

  • I have to agree

  • so true

  • by looking at this video on 1:31 u can certainly tell she has no hisband. and is desperatley in need.

  • All I have to say is look at her facial expression at 1:23. WOW! What excitement!!!

  • were going to check the tape a see if she say theat word before its hit's zero

IM SORRY IS HITS ZERO BEFORE SHE SAID THE WORD

  • She said it in time. If the buzzer did go off and it sounded while the clock was at zero, she wouldn't have won.

  • it was like 0:01 seconds left

  • Almost as close as the bonus round with the final word "inn". But this time, higher stakes!

  • This one was different. She said "Olympics" just after the clock went to zero, but there was no buzzer. In the one you're referring to, the clock was at zero, and the contestant said the word while the buzzer was sounding.

  • About that first part, the oh, mighty sound effects person forgot to hit the buzzer button at 0, but this player still won anyway. And much more than the other!

  • the buzzer doesn't come until 1 second after 00. this was right on 00

  • About that first part, that's one fraction of a second after 0. If it were more than a whole second, it would be a penalty. Besides, it's too late to complain to FremantleMedia now. You should've sent a complaint letter 22 years ago.

  • this was from 1985 rite?

  • Jo Anne Worley is such a FUN person!!

  • They needed a tenth of a second clock, like Scrabble. I don't think she would have won with a more accurate clock.

  • Actually, I think she still would've won - the Super Password clock seems to round off fractions of a second normally (as opposed to always rounding up like a lot of game show clocks), so 0.49 seconds shows as 0 instead of 1. So a tenth of a second clock would probably have shown something around 0.1 or 0.2 seconds left.

  • There is a rule in Password and Pyramid's bonus round that states that as long as the operative word is STARTED before the clock runs out, your answer will be accepted. If the clock runs out while you're saying your answer, you're allowed to complete THAT answer only. And that is what applied in this case. There is a similar circumstance that happened on The $25,000 Pyramid. That clip is on YouTube as well. Search for "Pyramid Close Win"

  • And yes she definitely started to say something starting with "L" but....thats not a penalty according to the rules of the game. As long as she doesn't say a complete word, it's fine.

  • that was the contestant who was saying the start of the words

  • on the buzzer

  • "A" sounded more like "uh" to me. That maybe the reason why she wasn't buzzed.

  • DUH!

  • That came from sometime in the 4th quarter of 1984, when Carla said "Olympics" before the buzzer started to sound. She won the jackpot of $35,000!

  • Hmm...For "Leotard" it sounded like she said "A Dancing," and also started to say the word. I think she should have been buzzed for that.

  • she said "uhh..." as if thinking...but yeah I would have buzzed it lol

  • I wouldn't have, as I know what she's saying.

  • ?? Why's that?

  • I think she said "uh, Dancing."

  • Now that I've listened to it dozens of times, she did say "Uh". Thank you.
