I have great respect for all those who seek to understand their world by studying the world's religion's and philosophies. I also have great respect for those who stay in one religion for most or all of their lives. I also respect the atheist's and agnostic's of the world who stay as far away from religion as possible.
Wherever you find yourself on you unique journey, know that you have the right to ask question's and not be satisfied with the answers.
They use their rules as a way to manipulate your behavior and the end result is that they control you. These fear based religion's can't be challenged because they are allowed to hide behind unquestionable material. You have been trained to not think for yourself. To always seek the answers from an authoritive outside force. The frustration is realizing that it all has been done under the guise of your protection and eternal salvation.
I understand your frustration with seeing your parent's blindly follow these newcomer's they just met over their own daughter. The difficult part of your situation is that your family has been immersed in Fear Based religious doctrine pretty much their entive lives.
Seventh Day Adventist's or any other spin off of a fear based religion may seem stupid or wrong because it's different from what you have been conditioned to accept as the norm. But the one thing they All have in common is control.
yeah and this group thinks that going to church on Sunday is a bad thing and that people should only go to church on Saturday cause it says in the Bible to keep the Sabbath day holy. And they think that the sabbath day is Saturday. My mom has even changed her freaking diet to the way they eat! I try to tell my parents my concerns but they just brush my thoughts and me aside and don't really care what I have to say. people in my family have made their concerns known as well but they won't listen
it's a difficult situation you find yourself in , alterbridgefann 99, because you are trying to protect your parents but they are looking for your support and probably conversion to their new belief system to protect you.
It's tough when some one you love is involved with a group or organization that uses fear, guilt, and shame as a way of bullying people into doing what they say.
As a human being, we are hard wired for self preservation of our life and our loved ones lives.
These group's are able to force their rules upon us because of our desire to protect anything we can conceive as important to us.
Our belief's/ideas /fears about life after death are vulnerable and easy prey for them because you can't prove either person's theory so they are able to take advantage of our doubt's by offering their answers with certainty.
omg, my parents just recently got involved with the Seventh Day Adventist "church" and they come in my house on a weekly basis and they think they're so amazing and they have completley brain washed my parents. I have such a bad, bad feeling about this "church" that they drove me out of my own house. I'm honestly afraid of these people and they don't give a shit. It's pretty bad when I won't/can't even step inside my own house after a long day of work and school :/
